For sale is a super low mileage White Edition 1990 Toyota Supra Turbo Targa Rolling Shell. It has 69,259 original miles, and a CLEAN title. A car like this comes around once or twice in a lifetime.

The Exterior is very clean, with the only blemishes being a small area of missing paint on the rear bumper, a crack in the driver side tail light, and some minor "webbing" in the paint on the nose piece. It is a white edition so it comes with the factory white wheels, and matching white trim. It is equipped with the Targa top which makes it perfect for those summertime cruises. Overall it is in excellent condition.

The interior is Maroon and also in very good condition. There are no tears in the leather seats, the carpets are in fantastic condition, and the panels all look great.

The 7mgte motor was pulled and does not come with the car. However the stock A340E transmission does come with the car but it is currently out of the car. It is also missing the ECU, but the wiring harness is still in the car (2 or 3 wires were cut during engine removal, however the rest of the harness is in great condition with all the connections). Everything else comes with the car and is factory. This car was never modified.

It really is in fantastic condition for its age. This car is destined to become a collectors car and go up in value. It is the perfect project car. Feel free to contact me for more information, or if you would like pictures or videos of any specific part of the car. Buyer must arrange their own pickup or shipping from the car's current location (Draper, UT). The car will not be turned over to the new owner or any shipping company until the final selling price is paid in full. Once paid in full the title will be turned over to the new owner, and the car may be taken. I also reserve to end the auction at any time.

Autoblog Podcast #317:

Sports 800 is a progenitor of Toyota performance

Tue, 18 Nov 2014

There's an automotive axiom that claims it's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow. If that's the case, then pushing a Toyota Sports 800 around must be one of the most exhilarating experiences behind the wheel in the world. With just 800cc of displacement from a two-cylinder boxer engine, the focus is on finesse over outright speed. Still, it's a fantastic page in Toyota's performance history, and Petrolicious takes a ride with a man who owns a meticulously restored 1967 example in its latest video.
The Sports 800 used the classic cost-saving strategy in the auto industry of taking parts from a standard model in the lineup and modifying it into a sports car. In this case that meant borrowing the engine from the plebian Toyota Publica, beefing it up for more power and clothing the whole thing a in beautifully shaped, wind-tunnel-honed body.
The look of these lithe, targa roadsters is the exact opposite of the rather dull styling sometimes associated with Toyota today. Everywhere you look there are louvers, vents or curves to draw the eye. Check out the latest Petrolicious video for a detailed look at the history of this rare model that's largely unknown on this side of the Pacific.

Mazda ad showing Facebook updates while driving criticized by Senate committee [w/video]

Sat, 08 Feb 2014

Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller, D-WV, held an all-day summit on Thursday to discuss the dangers of using modern technology while driving, during which an ad that Mazda aired during the Super Bowl was used as an example of the worrisome future towards which we're headed. While seemingly innocuous at first glance, the ad, which can be seen below, shows a brief glimpse of a driver using the Mazda Connect infotainment system in a Mazda3 to check/update his Facebook page while driving down the road.
Officials from major communications companies like Samsung, Google and Apple attended the summit, as well as representatives from automakers including General Motors and Toyota. A representative from Mazda was not present despite the company's own currently available technology being used as the poster child for the issues being discussed.
According to Automotive News, Senator Rockefeller warned the automaker and communication execs on hand that he will propose legislation to regulate the use of technology while driving if they don't work together to implement their own standards more quickly. Michael Robinson, GM's vice president of sustainability and global regulatory affairs, argued that his company has had distracted driving guidelines in place for 15 years since the advent of its OnStar system, noting that the technology in question has also helped the automaker save lives through automatic crash detection and calls to 911.
