Restored 1989 Red Toyota Supra Turbo Targa Top on 2040-cars
Houston, Texas, United States
I have put allot of "labor and love" into this car. It has been restored almost completely. The condition is excellent. I have replaced the following. Fuel Injectors, Starter, Water pump, Brakes, Radiator(duel core),Turbo release valve, Head Gasket, Struts. Tires and new paint job.
This car has features that I do not think any other supra in the United States has. It has the original 1989 car phone in it(keeping everything original). It has a 2012 push button Start with automatic locking and unlocking when away from the car. It has a rear release. Interior lighting panel, custom antenna, custom front end cover, special halogen lights and fog lights. Heavy Duty Duel core radiator(less than 200 miles old). I bought this from a friend of mine and made it my project once I saw the condition and the car phone. It is important for the potential buyer to know that I am not going to sell this car to somebody who wants to go drag racing even though it is much faster than stock. I am looking for a collector or a supra lover who will cherish this car and take great care of it as I have. I only drive this car maybe 2 times a month for a Sunday drive , and believe me its a head turner. I have had the car almost 5 years and only put a total of 4,000 + miles on it. The rest of the time it is in my garage and covered. The payment terms are that the potential buyer and I meet and he/she test drives my supra before any transaction will occur. The payment will be in a wire transfer or pay pal and once the money is cleared then I will release and transfer the title into the new lucky owners name |

Toyota responds to video of Highlander ramming house [w/video]
Thu, 18 Apr 2013There are, as they say, two sides to every story, so after we posted a video on Monday showing what an owner claimed to be a case of unintended acceleration causing her Toyota Highlander to crash into a house twice, Toyota reached out to us revealing some additional information about the incident.
Following this crash, which took place back in November, Toyota had this Highlander inspected and pulled data from its Event Data Recorder (EDR), or Black Box as we've come to call it. Not only was this the first time we've seen a claim of unintended acceleration like this caught on video, but now, also a first, we have actual data showing what the vehicle itself recorded during this frightening ordeal.
Brian Lyons, Toyota Communications Manager for Safety and Quality, first gave us some information about the Highlander in question, including the fact that it was a 2012 model. The 2012 Highlander came from the factory with a brake override system, meaning it was not part of the company's initiative in 2010 to add the system to all 2011 models. Also, after looking at the data from the EDR, he said - as many of you pointed out in the comments for the previous post - that the "brake pedal was never touched." In the video, you can see that the crossover's brake lights never come on, and the EDR's data backs this up.
Watch the Muppets go for ice cream in a Toyota
Tue, 25 Feb 2014Do Muppets drive? We're not sure it's necessarily a good idea, but it's been known to happen. Fozzy called his hibernating uncle's Studebaker a bear's "natural habitat," and Doctor Teeth wouldn't get the Electric Mayhem very far without his band's psychedelically painted school bus. But how about Rolf in a 2014 Toyota Highlander?
That's what we got a glimpse of in the run-up to the Super Bowl, and the same combination (plus one Rizzo the Rat) that features in this adorably ordinary video below. Ordinary because it's just a couple of guys going out for an ice cream. Adorable because, well... they're Muppets. See what we mean in the surprisingly entertaining two-minute clip below.
Toyota reveals new versions of FT-1 concept at Pebble Beach [w/video]
Thu, 14 Aug 2014Toyota certainly caught our attention when it unveiled the FT-1 concept at the Detroit Auto Show last January. Coming from the same people who gave us the Lexus LFA, Scion FR-S and Toyota Supra, the FT-1 concept looked striking in its bright red livery. But the Japanese automaker isn't quite done with it yet.
No, we're afraid we don't have a production announcement to share at the moment, but Toyota has revealed two new versions of the FT-1 concept that cast it in different light. Most notable is the graphite version pictured above. Replacing the bright red paintjob and two-tone red and black interior of the original concept, this second iteration - presented in the metal at McCall's Motorworks Revival in Monterey, California - goes for a more upscale and refined graphite exterior and a tan leather interior with exposed metal elements.
Both versions of the virtually road-going FT-1 concept will be playable in GT6, but at the same time Toyota also revealed (in digital form, at least) a virtual racing version of the concept called the FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo. Looking like the original concept was prepared for Japan's Super GT series, the FT-1 Vision GT is retuned for racing, with wider fenders, more extreme aero, competition-spec alloys on slicks and the like.
