1993 Toyota Supra N/A (2jz-GE). It is an automatic transmission.  It is a rare hard top model, so no targa top problems.  The interior is in great shape except the front 2 bucket leather seats are worn, which is to be expected.  It has been used as a daily driver.  It runs and drives well.  Body is in good condition for 20 years old.  I originally was going to make it into a show car and change it to a twin turbo with 6 speed, but I am now selling my house and moving, so I need to sell the car.   I recently performed some upgrades: brand new D2 racing coil-overs installed, new front splash gaurds, new gel battery, 1998 tail lights, custom cat back system with greddy canister exhaust.  The car only has 140,200 miles on it.  I really hate to sell this car, but I need to at this time.  I do not want any trades or low ball offers.  Serious buyers only.  I live in Spartanburg, SC and I have it listed locally, so first come first served.  I am willing to show the car in person if I am contacted by anyone.  I don't want to ship the car out, so I want a person to person meeting to buy the car.  I am not the original owner.  If you have any questions or want to see additional photos, feel free to email me: reblsoccer2@yahoo.com

Toyota hangs on to title of world's largest automaker for first half of 2013

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

General Motors and Ford can have all the success they please, but it doesn't seem like America's two largest manufacturers are going to topple Toyota in the first half of 2013. According to Reuters, Toyota moved 4.91 million vehicles in the first six months of 2013, representing a 1.1-percent drop from the same period in 2012.
GM is on the rise, though, with a four-percent increase in global sales, to 4.85 million. Volkswagen, still sitting in third, saw a 5.5-percent jump to 4.7 million vehicles in the first half of 2013.
If this pace continues for Toyota, it'll finish 2013 in the top sales spot for the second year in a row. The manufacturer fell to third, behind GM and VW, in 2011 after earthquakes and tsunamis ravaged its production capacity.

Toyota tops Consumer Reports best, worst used car values

Tue, 18 Mar 2014

We often mock Toyota for building boring, soulless cars, but a new study by Consumer Reports suggests that regardless of whether that's true, the company has some of the best used cars on the market. In its report on used cars from 2004-2013, the Japanese automaker had 11 vehicles among its brands on the list - more than any other automaker.
CR breaks the list down by cost and vehicle size, and Toyota has at least one entry at every price point and in nearly every segment. To score a recommendation, a vehicle had to perform well in the magazine's initial tests and score above-average reliability results. It also tried to only suggest cars with electronic stability control. Of the 28 recommended vehicles, Honda/Acura had the second most mentions at six, and Ford, Hyundai and Subaru managed two each.
The Detroit brands also made it to the list, but not in a positive way. Consumer Reports compiled a list of 22 vehicles it wouldn't recommend because "they have multiple years of much-worse-than-average overall reliability." General Motors had the most unrecommended models on the list at six, but Chrysler and Ford weren't far behind, with five cars each from their brands not making the grade. The full list of recommendations is available on CR's website.

First Toyota unintended acceleration case headed for trial

Mon, 22 Jul 2013

Toyota is going to be back in the spotlight, as the first of its unintended acceleration lawsuits is headed for trial. This case covers a Los Angeles sushi shop owner, Noriko Uno. According to the what the family told The Detroit News, Uno only put about 10,000 miles on her 2006 Toyota Camry in four years. Uno was apparently afraid of high speeds, avoiding the freeway and taking a route home along LA's surface streets to avoid them.
On August 28, 2009, Uno's Camry suddenly accelerated to 100 miles per hour, eventually striking a telephone poll and a tree and killing her. The family contends that Uno attempted to step on the brakes and pull the emergency brake, neither of which brought her speed under control, while Toyota maintains that improperly installed floormats and driver error have been behind the majority of the 80 cases expected to be heard in court.
In Uno's case, The Detroit News is expecting the trial to focus on the lack of an override if the gas and brake pedals were pressed at the same time. Brake overrides were installed on Toyota's European fleet. The Uno family attorney will need to prove to the jury that it wasn't driver error that killed Noriko Uno.
