1989 Toyota Supra Turbo-low Miles, All Stock And Original! No Reserve!! on 2040-cars
Spokane, Washington, United States
This is a rare opportunity for someone to adopt my "baby". The difference between this car and all the other ones you have seen is simple: This is the nicest, cleanest, most well-kept example you will find. PERIOD! This '89 Supra Turbo is in astonishing original condition for its age. It has been garage kept 24/7, unless it was being enjoyed on a sunny day. NOT driven in bad weather of any kind. NO smoking, NO pets, NO eating, and probably most importantly, NO ABUSE. This car starts, runs, and drives as it should. It doesn't leak any fluids, it doesn't use any oil, and there are no strange knocks or pings. It has not been modified in any way, with the exception of a Kenwood CD player and a washable, re-useable air filter. The exterior of this car is painted in pearl white, and it shines beautifully. No rust anywhere, and no dents. The interior is burgundy cloth, and the seats, carpet, dash, etc. are almost like brand new. A major benefit of being in the garage so much... Even the original floor mats are still in place!! Under the mats, the carpet is perfect.
As you can see in the photos, this car has only 77k miles on the clock. Yes, the miles are original and accurate. The tires have less than 500 miles on them, and are mounted to the original Toyota aluminum wheels, which have NO damage or curb rash. I am not the original owner of this car, but I am INCREDIBLY particular (and old). This car clearly shows that it has always had proper care and maintenance. I have spent tons of money on this car making it right, so you don't have to. Items just replaced this year include the valve cover gaskets, plugs and wires, oxygen sensors, thermostat, alternator, and several hoses under the hood. Everything was replaced at a Toyota dealer, using genuine Toyota parts. All maintenance is up to date. These cars are going up in value, as they are slowly becoming more difficult to find. NADA blue book value is $9900. This car is priced very fairly for the condition that it's in. No, it's not brand new, so there are some very minor imperfections. Still, I'd call it a 9.5 out of 10 for a 25 year old original sports car. This car has been well-loved, and it shows! It is ready to be driven and enjoyed. Only ever had premium fuel, and washed/waxed every couple of weeks. This car is an absolute joy to drive, and I get compliments on it often. I am only selling it because I bought a newer one. Well, that and I have 3 other cars and a truck... I have had a few people say that they'd be interested in the car if it had a manual transmission. Let me assure you: the automatic in this car is awesome! It shifts firmly and quickly, and has a "power" mode selector for even better performance. It leaves NOTHING on the table- the car is fast! The windows have a nice aftermarket tint, professionally installed. No bubbles or other weirdness. The spare tire and jack are in place, and the original owner's manual is included. Clear title in hand. Check my feedback score, and bid with confidence. The photos I have included do NOT do this car justice- in person, this car looks 3 years old, not 25! It matters to me who gets this car, so please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I will respond promptly. Also, I will assist with shipping. DO NOT bid if you don't have the money, have a low feedback score, or you are "kicking tires". I will work with you as far as payment goes, however I will expect payment in full within 3 days of auction close. If you have specific questions, feel free to call me. I'll be busy during the week, so questions sent via ebay messaging might not get answered right away (best to call if you're serious). The car is located in Spokane, Wa. Auction is no reserve, so someone's about to get a beautiful car. For info., the pics were taken on 5/31/14. Bid away! Good luck, Chris (509)389-2771 |

PickupTrucks.com's latest test results in a familiar winner [w/video]
Wed, 19 Jun 2013PickupTrucks.com has gone and thrown the latest batch of half-ton pickups into a cage match to see who would come out on top. The site put the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2013 Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan through a battery of tests. Those included 0-60 miles per hour acceleration, 60-0 mph deceleration, fuel economy, a hill climb, and payload and towing. They even threw the rigs on an autocross course to evaluate overall handling. Each truck was given points based on how it scored in each evaluation.
Who came out on top? Somewhat surprisingly, the 2013 Ford F-150 walked away with the gold, though fewer than 50 points separated first and fourth place. Head over to PickupTrucks.com to read the full evaluation and the final results. You may be shocked to see exactly where some of the segment's newest additions placed. You can also watch a video on the test below.
The next steps automakers could take after sales drop again in April
Tue, May 2 2017DETROIT (Reuters) - Major automakers on Tuesday posted declines in U.S. new vehicle sales for April in a sign the long boom cycle that lifted the American auto industry to record sales last year is losing steam, sending carmaker stocks down. The drop in sales versus April 2016 came on the heels of a disappointing March, which automakers had shrugged off as just a bad month. But two straight weak months has heightened Wall Street worries the cyclical industry is on a downward swing after a nearly uninterrupted boom since the Great Recession's end in 2010. Auto sales were a drag on U.S. first-quarter gross domestic product, with the economy growing at an annual rate of just 0.7 percent according to an advance estimate published by the Commerce Department last Friday. Excluding the auto sector the GDP growth rate would have been 1.2 percent. Industry consultant Autodata put the industry's seasonally adjusted annualized rate of sales at 16.88 million units for April, below the average of 17.2 million units predicted by analysts polled by Reuters. General Motors Co shares fell 2.9 percent while Ford Motor Co slid 4.3 percent and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV's U.S.-traded shares tumbled 4.2 percent. The U.S. auto industry faces multiple challenges. Sales are slipping and vehicle inventory levels have risen even as carmakers have hiked discounts to lure customers. A flood of used vehicles from the boom cycle are increasingly competing with new cars. The question for automakers: How much and for how long to curtail production this summer, which will result in worker layoffs? To bring down stocks of unsold vehicles, the Detroit automakers need to cut production, and offer more discounts without creating "an incentives war," said Mark Wakefield, head of the North American automotive practice for AlixPartners in Southfield, Michigan. "We see multiple weeks (of production) being taken out on the car side," he said, "and some softness on the truck side." Rival automakers will be watching each other to see if one is cutting prices to gain market share from another, he said, instead of just clearing inventory. INVESTORS DIGEST BAD NEWS Just last week GM reported a record first-quarter profit, but that had almost zero impact on the automaker's stock. The iconic carmaker, whose own interest was once conflated with that of America's, has slipped behind luxury carmaker Tesla Inc in terms of valuation.
Scion rules out roadster, turbo versions of FR-S
Tue, Nov 25 2014Ever since Toyota and Subaru released the sports car alternatively known as the GT86, 86, BRZ and Scion FR-S a couple of years ago, rumors have circulated that even more exciting variants could be in store. But at least as far as Scion is concerned, those rumors are apparently nothing more than wishful thinking. Speaking with WardsAuto at the LA Auto Show last week, Scion chief Doug Murtha said that the prospect of an FR-S roadster has been taken off the table entirely. Apparently Scion lobbied parent company Toyota to produce just such a model, but after failing to find other markets interested enough in the model to put it into production, corporate HQ said no. "I think we were pretty aggressive on our (submitted plan), but we looked at what we would have conceivably lost on the product and said, 'We're not going to even push it further,'" Murtha said, going on to note, "Nobody was more disappointed than we were." Murtha further shot down the idea of a turbo version of the FR-S, dismissing it as a prospect the blogosphere (that's us) wanted to happen but "that's not something that's coming." Either variant might have helped Scion and Toyota boost sales of the model (which are predictably dropping after their first two years on the market), but the investment also might not have paid off their development, tooling and marketing costs. Of course, Murtha can only speak for Toyota, but we'd be surprised to see Subaru go it alone on either model, as costs would be that much more prohibitive without a partner. Bummer.
