1987 Toyota Supra Turbo Hatchback 2-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Encinitas, California, United States
My Clean Title AT 87 Supra Turbo runs, but won't pass smog in Ca. Might be due to old gasoline, but I'm not certain. Replaced the oxygen sensor and the neutral safety switch went out so it sat for 10 months before I bypassed it.
Has a remanufactured engine with no more than 30,000 miles on it and a 30,000 mile trans that I only put about 10,000 on. Heater core and AC compressor replaced within 5 years. Stock alarm is malfunctioning & either needs to be replaced or a start button needs to be installed so that the car consistently starts. All the electronics work (power locks, windows, mirrors, seats), minus cruise control (stopped after the buttons came off). All fees are paid (on a Planned Non-Op) through February of 2015, so no worry about penalties in Ca. The interior is in great shape for a 27 year old car, upholstery is perfect minus a small hole in the back seat, dash is cracked on top from time in the sun, the clear coat has started coming off and there is a dent on the left rear fender. Other than that, it's a California car. |

Autoblog Podcast #317:
Toyota gives up more information on Frankfurt-bound Yaris Hybrid-R concept
Mon, 19 Aug 2013Toyota has undeniably carved out a niche for itself as the industry's leader in hybrid propulsion. What started out with the original Prius in 1997 has, over the past sixteen years, ballooned to what Toyota reports as a global hybrid portfolio of 23 models. But few (if any of them) are particularly exciting.
That's where the Yaris Hybrid-R concept comes in. Set to be showcased along with the rest of Toyota's hybrid and fuel-cell lineup at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show next month, the concept starts with one of the Japanese auto giant's least exciting models and upgrades it to more enticing territory. Toyota Motorsport GmbH - the same Cologne, Germany-based division that operated the company's F1 team, currently runs its Le Mans program and gave us that bonkers 650-horsepower Lexus LS - has slotted in a version of Toyota's new 1.6-liter Global Race Engine and paired it with a couple of electric motors for hybrid propulsion and through-the-road all-wheel drive.
Like the TS030 Hybrid LMP1, the Yaris Hybrid-R concept uses a super capacitor (instead of a conventional battery) to store the regenerated brake energy and give it upwards of 400 horsepower. That's about all Toyota is revealing at this point, but this is the first time it has confirmed the project is based on a Yaris, of all things, and the confirmation comes with the solitary teaser rendering you see above. Check out the press release after the jump and watch this space for more as Frankfurt fast approaches.
Unifor may establish local union for Toyota's Canadian plants
Thu, 17 Jul 2014Union tactics apparently translate across borders, as Canada's Unifor may take inspiration from the United Auto Workers' recent move at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN, and establish a local for the Toyota factories in Cambridge and Woodstock.
Unifor last attempted to organize the workers at the two factories, which are responsible for production of the Toyota Corolla (above), RAV4 and Lexus RX back in April, but that vote was eventually delayed. According to that report, 3,000 of the two plants' 7,500 employees signed union cards, but that apparently wasn't enough for Unifor to force a vote.
Because of this, the union is looking at the local approach, like what the UAW is attempting with VW.
