1987 Toyota Supra Base Hatchback 2-door 3.0l - No Reserve on 2040-cars
Clearwater, Florida, United States
Thank you for
looking. For sale is a real Japanese classic - a good running, but somewhat below-average condition 1987 Toyota Supra. The 3.0L I6 engine runs very well. Transmission shifts smoothly and properly. Tune-up has been done. Car drives quite well and is in driving condition with all exterior lights fully functional. The gas tank has been replaced and fuel system flush performed. Air-condition (A/C) is not working, blows hot. Removable hard-top drips when raining on the passenger-side, probably a gasket. The interior has some rough areas, particularly due to sun damage and age. Exterior trim around rear window loose. Some exterior door molding on passenger side is loose. The car as a few small dents, scratches, paint is rather faded. The sound of the exhaust also suggests a small hole in the system somewhere (although its a cool exhaust note). So, the car is overall mechanically sound, but has
imperfections in the interior and exterior. This is not a 'good condition' vehicle. It is fair or below average in some areas. Keep in mind it's a 27 year old vehicle. Would make a good first car, project car, or parts car. Opening price is $300 (starting bid) + $199 (admin fee) = $499!!! SOLD AS-IS with NO RESERVE! Bid with confidence!
Please note the following: - Vehicle runs well (engine and transmission). - Suspension and vehicle rides well for its age, condition, and miles. - Gas tank replaced. Complete fuel system flush. - Tune-up has been performed (new plugs, etc.). - A/C is not working. - Interior is fair to below-average, rough in some areas particularly exposed to the sun. - Paint appears to be original but neglected and sun-exposed. - Cracks on dashboard and throughout the interior, sun-exposed. - Drip/leak on hard-top by passenger. - Other imperfections throughout. Vehicle Condition: Average, Below-Average, Rough in Some Areas Outstanding - Exceptional mechanical, exterior and interior condition; requires no reconditioning. Clean - Some normal wear but no major mechanical or cosmetic problems; may require limited reconditioning. Average - May have a few mechanical and/or cosmetic problems and may require a considerable amount of reconditioning Below Average - Several mechanical and/or cosmetic problems requiring significant repairs. Damaged - Major mechanical and/or body damage that may render it in non-safe running condition. Toyota and Lexus recalling 235,000 hybrid CUVs and sedans over separate issues
Wed, 04 Sep 2013When it rains, it pours. Toyota has announced a pair of separate but voluntary North America recalls covering approximately 235,000 vehicles built between 2006 and 2011. The larger of the two recalls targets Toyota's hybridized crossovers, the Lexus RX400h and Toyota Highlander Hybrid. 133,000 units, including 2006-2010 Highlander and 2006-2008 RX crossovers are covered in the campaign. The other recall affects 102,000 IS350 sedans, IS350C convertibles and GS350 sedans built between 2006 and 2011.
With the CUVs, the faults in the parallel circuits of the transistors can cause heat damage in the inverter assembly, triggering an abundance of warning lamps and sending the vehicle into limp mode. The Lexus sedans are being recalled due to loose bolts on the variable valve timing controller. Detected by unusual underhood sounds on startup, the issue can cause the engine to stop while driving. The inverter issue is also triggering similar recalls in Japan and Europe.
At the moment, it's unclear if any of these issues have caused any crashes or injuries. Toyota says it plans to notify owners of the recall via snail mail. Additional information for owners can be found on the recall sites for Toyota and Lexus or by calling Toyota's customer service line, at 1-800-331-4331. Scroll down for the complete recall notice from Toyota.
Toyota sells six of 10 of hybrids in California
Wed, 31 Jul 2013In an apparent shot back at Ford's increasing market share of electrified vehicles and claim that it accepts more Prius trade-ins for its own hybrids than any other car, Toyota has flexed a muscle and played the numbers game to put the Blue Oval in its place.
Leaning on its hybrid market dominance in California, the Japanese automaker stated that six out of 10 hybrids sold in the Golden State are Toyota models. And it keeps coming: Year-to-date through May 2013, Toyota sold five times more hybrids than Ford. One of every two hybrids in California is a Prius model. In addition, Toyota notes that it has sold 1.5 million Prius vehicles in the US, 90-percent of which are still on the road today.

Autotrader picks best cars for 2015's college grads
Sun, May 31 2015Summer is here and the school season is winding to a close. That means millions of students will be graduating college and (hopefully) entering the workforce. For many, that will mean buying a new car suited to the new stage in life into which they will now be embarking. That can be a bewildering choice, especially for someone who's never bought a car before. Fortunately, Autotrader has come up with a short list of recommended cars – new and used – which it recommends to the graduating class of 2015. Among the site's top choices are some compelling crossovers and hatchbacks, including the Buick Encore, Chevy Trax, and Jeep Renegade, as well as the Honda Fit, Nissan Versa Note, Mazda3 and Fiat 500. Can't stretch to buying new, or don't see the point? Autotrader has also identified the Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion and even the Lexus IS as smart buys in the certified pre-owned category. "Any time someone goes through a major life change, such as graduating college, they need to determine if their current ride makes sense for their lifestyle, from both a financial and functional perspective," says Autotrader editor Brian Moody. "For example, while that hand-me-down SUV from your parents was nice when you turned 16, you may want to opt for a safer, more fuel-efficient car as you transition into the working world." Autotrader Names 10 Best Cars for Recent College Graduates ATLANTA, May 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- For many, graduating college is a milestone like no other – it represents a new chapter, a proud accomplishment and, fortunately or unfortunately, financial independence. Luckily for graduates who are in the market for a new car to suit their post-college lifestyle, Autotrader's expert editors say now is a great time to make a purchase, as dealerships are flush with affordable models that are fun, fuel-efficient and thoughtfully designed. Autotrader Logo "Any time someone goes through a major life change, such as graduating college, they need to determine if their current ride makes sense for their lifestyle, from both a financial and functional perspective," said Brian Moody, site editor for Autotrader.
