Wife's 2003 Toyota Rav 4 - Compact Suv - Awd - 4cyl Auto Look on 2040-cars
Adamstown, Pennsylvania, United States
In late 2003 we decided on purchasing this Rav-4 because it was consumer Rated at (8.7), the second best compact SUV that could be purchased at the time (Honda being first). Used exclusively by my wife for every day errands, country driven it has less than 10K miles a year on it (which included our yearly trip to Fl) It has proven dependable both in summer and especially with it’s AWD during the PA winters. Now 10 years later we have no regrets in our decision, and have decided to purchase a new one. Always garaged it has been regularly maintained (engine and trany fluids changes, filters, etc) with new batteries, tune ups, brakes and tires as needed. The 4 cyl engine is very economical, and is rated at 22mpg city and 27mpg highway, using regular gas. We have had no mechanical or electrical problems with it, and there were no factory recalls on this model. Other than your typical parking lot scratches, the body has never been damaged or repaired. Just the two of us, non smokers, no children, grand children or pets, the interior is very clean. Plenty of cargo space with the rear seats folded down and even more if you pop them out completely. Fully equipped with many convenience options, it has always been safe, comfortable and reliable to drive. Also includes original owner’s manuals. Recently serviced and the inspection is good until 5/14/14. Additional photos are available upon request. Vehicle located 8 miles north of the PA Turnpike, Exit 286 (Reading-Lancaster). This vehicle is being sold as-is – where is, with no warranty expressed written or implied. Toyota Tacoma helps stand up to your girlfriend, mimes, magicians and the Grim Reaper
Mon, 26 Aug 2013It takes a lot to get a product noticed in today's fast-paced world, but one avenue that's always seemed to grab the eyeballs of consumers has been humor. Toyota knows this rule well, and has put together a quartet of spots called "Tacoma Wins," in which the midsize pickup's features and specifications best a number of seemingly worthy competitors.
Whether it be sobbing girlfriends, a circus magician, a grim reaper or the scariest thing of all, a mime, the Tacoma looks well equipped to deal with it. Take a look below for all four of Toyota's newest spots.
Toyota hangs on to title of world's largest automaker for first half of 2013
Fri, 26 Jul 2013General Motors and Ford can have all the success they please, but it doesn't seem like America's two largest manufacturers are going to topple Toyota in the first half of 2013. According to Reuters, Toyota moved 4.91 million vehicles in the first six months of 2013, representing a 1.1-percent drop from the same period in 2012.
GM is on the rise, though, with a four-percent increase in global sales, to 4.85 million. Volkswagen, still sitting in third, saw a 5.5-percent jump to 4.7 million vehicles in the first half of 2013.
If this pace continues for Toyota, it'll finish 2013 in the top sales spot for the second year in a row. The manufacturer fell to third, behind GM and VW, in 2011 after earthquakes and tsunamis ravaged its production capacity.
Toyota retires robots in favor of humans to improve automaking process
Sat, 12 Apr 2014Mitsuru Kawai is overseeing a return to the old ways at Toyota factories throughout Japan. Having spent 50 years at the Japanese automaker, Kawai remembers when manual skills were prized at the company and "experienced masters used to be called gods, and they could make anything." Company CEO Akio Toyoda personally chose Kawai to develop programs to teach workers metalcraft such as how to forge a crankshaft from scratch, and 100 workstations that formerly housed machines have been set aside for human training.
The idea is that when employees personally understand the fabrication of components, they will understand how to make better machines. Said Kawai, "To be the master of the machine, you have to have the knowledge and the skills to teach the machine." Lessons learned by the newly skilled workers have led to shorter production lines - in one case, 96percent shorter - improved parts production and less scrap.
Taking time to give workers the knowledge to solve problems instead of merely having them "feed parts into a machine and call somebody for help when it breaks down," Kawai's initiative is akin to that of Toyota's Operations Management Consulting Division, where new managers are given a length of time to finish a project but not given any help - they have to learn on their own. It's not a step back from Toyota's quest to build more than ten million cars a year; it's an effort to make sure that this time they don't sacrifice quality while making the effort. Said Kawai, "We need to become more solid and get back to basics."
