Thank you for your interest in our auction. We are selling our family car that has served us very well. We are the 2nd owners, having bought this car at around 30,000 miles. This is a great little SUV, super gas efficient, and very stable in any road conditions due to the 4 wheel drive. Awesome car to drive on the beach, you will never get stuck! Rear windows have  a factory tint which is great for kids or anyone traveling in the back seat. Our family is growing this year, so we have to part with this car to accommodate more children. We have taken many long road trips in this RAV4, including driving from Texas to Florida for vacation, and we just loved it, no one was fatigued from driving, it was so comfortable!

This RAV4 has been dealer maintained and serviced, and we have all the records available. The AC compressor was changed very recently, and a gasket between the engine and transmission was replaced (with original Toyota parts) by our local Toyota dealer. Tires are in good shape, with the rear ones having less than 1,000 miles. Car is current on state inspection/emission in Texas. Brakes were done less than 3
months ago. About 2 years ago car was backed low speed into a hydrant, which dented a panel in the rear cargo door, but the panel and all scratches were replaced and repaired by a Toyota dealer, and no sign of damage remains . We have all records of this repair available. Car is mechanically sound and needs NO repairs of any kind, drives very well.

This 2007 RAV4 is very clean, in very nice shape inside and out. There are few small stains on the rear floor mats, and small discoloration or stain on the back seat, not very visible and hard to capture in pictures. There are no dents on the body of the car, but there are small rock chips on the front of the hood from normal driving. These can be seen in pictures. All these tiny chips have been filled with touch up paint to prevent rusting, as shown in pictures.  There are small scratches in places on the front and rear bumpers. Overall the car is in a great shape

We welcome questions, test drives and any inspections BEFORE the auction ends,  at a mechanic/dealership near where we live.
Please do not bid if you plan to try to re-negotiate the price after winning the auction. Negative feedback will be left and will report to ebay.
Winning bidder  pays a non-refundable $300 deposit in cash within 24 hours or $500 non-refundable deposit via paypal,  unless otherwise agreed. Full payment in cash or certified US bank check is expected within 7 days of the auction ending. Checks need to be cleared before anything is released, no exceptions to that at all.

We reserve the right to terminate this auction early in case our Toyota RAV4 is sold locally.

Toyota finds 10% MPG improvement in hybrid PCU

Wed, May 21 2014

Keeping up its from-all-angles approach to efficiency, Toyota has found yet another way to eke out up to ten percent more precious MPGs in its hybrid vehicles, this time electronically. The automaker has announced the development of new silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductors for use in power control units, which it will begin testing on Japanese roads within the next year. The PCU using the silicon carbide compound offers less electrical resistance, which improves efficiency when passing current between the battery and electric motor. It also loses less power after shutting off, and can operate at a higher frequency. The net power loss of the new PCU is just one-tenth of the current silicone-only version (the latter accounting for 20 percent of total electrical power loss in today's hybrids). The result, so far, is a claimed five-percent improvement in fuel economy in test vehicles, with the potential of ten percent by the time the new SiC power semiconductor comes to market. Additionally, the carbide wafers allow for smaller a power module, coil and capacitor, thus allowing the entire PCU to be 80 percent smaller (see the side-by-side comparison in the accompanying photo, which you can click to enlarge). We've got a while to wait before we start to see the carbide technology to start making a real-world impact. Toyota aims to begin using the SiC units in 2020. By then, with improvements in the company's other key efficiency factors - engine technology and aerodynamics - cars like the Prius will likely see significant gains in fuel economy. Read more in the press release below. Toyota Develops 'Diamond-like' Computer Chips to Boost Hybrid Mileage May 20, 2014 Toyota City, Japan – Toyota is using one of the hardest materials in nature after diamonds to develop a semiconductor chip it hopes will improve the fuel efficiency of its hybrids, such as the Prius, by as much at 10 percent. The company and its partners announced today that they have developed a silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductor for use in automotive power control units. Toyota plans to begin test-driving vehicles with the technology on public roads in Japan within a year. The chips, made from carbide - one of the hardest materials in nature, theoretically have superior characteristics such as one-tenth the electrical power loss and 10 times the drive frequency. Toyota said the chips would also allow it to reduce the size of current automotive power control units by 80 percent.

Next-gen Toyota Tacoma to debut at Detroit Auto Show

Thu, Dec 4 2014

Toyota's confirmation comes on the heels of General Motors' successful launch of its own midsize pickups. The next generation of the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck will be revealed in January at the Detroit Auto Show, a top executive confirmed Thursday. Bob Carter, senior vice president of automotive operations for Toyota, offered no other details, but the new version of the pickup is expected to have significant upgrades compared with the aging model on sale now. Our spy shooters caught a prototype testing this summer, and rumors of the new generation have been swirling for months. We've also previously reported that Toyota is planning to ramp up production next April at a factory in Mexico that builds the Tacoma. Toyota's confirmation comes on the heels of General Motors' successful launch of its own midsize pickups, the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, which have garnered awards, positive reviews and solid sales since they arrived in showrooms this fall. It's unclear how large the new Tacoma will be, especially considering that the Canyon and Colorado flirt with fullsize territory. The Tacoma was last updated in 2012, and the segment has changed dramatically since then with the addition of the GM trucks. Another Tacoma competitor, Honda's aging Ridgeline, is also expected to re-launch in 2015, which would leave the Nissan Frontier as the oldest truck in the field. Tacoma sales have slipped 4.1 percent to 140,757 units this year, though they posted a 3.3-percent gain in November. Meanwhile, Carter also said Lexus will reveal two performance vehicles, though he didn't elaborate. "I'll leave it at that, but I promise you'll enjoy it," he said coyly. Lexus just showed the LF-C2 convertible concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Toyota's $1.6B unintended acceleration settlement approved

Sat, 20 Jul 2013

Toyota is now one step closer to putting its unintended acceleration woes behind it as it has received approval from the US District Court for the Central District of California to settle loss-of-value claims to vehicles associated with the 2009-2010 recalls.
As we reported back in May, the Toyota settlement is worth $1.63 billion, which, according to Bloomberg, includes a payout of $757 million to affected owners, $227 million to attorneys and an additional $875 million for vehicle upgrades. (We did the math, too, and that totals $1.859 billion, but there is no justification for the discrepancy. Fuzzy math, eh?)
Based on the estimated 22.6 million vehicles said to be included in this suit, that would make the average payment about $33.49 per vehicle, but the article says that owners, lessees and even renters will receive varying amounts ranging from $9.74 up to as much as $10,000. This settlement does not affect suits filed for personal injury or wrongful death.
