This is a mechanics special!! If you are willing to reseal the front cover and valve cover gaskets and seals, replace the rear shocks and replace the water pump, this car should last another 100,000 miles. Here are the details:
- I am the second owner of this car. I bought it in 1996 with 47000 miles and an extended warranty from a Toyota dealer.
- The body is in excellent condition - NO RUST. There is a scratch on the rear driver side bumper and small scratch on the passenger door. Car has a sun roof, spoiler, and chrome tube side steps. Stereo with CD player.
- NEW Firestone FR710 TIRES - 2 with 1130 miles and 2 with 20,000 miles on them - 65,000 mile tire warranty.
- New front struts and a New battery - all replaced in 2013.
- The engine oil is leaking on to the exhaust manifold causing smoke in the engine compartment. I brought it to an independent mechanic and the toyota dealer to confirm the problem and both agree that the engine needs to be removed from the car in order to complete the required repairs. The engine compression is GOOD! Grossinger toyota (Chicago) may be contacted to get complete details of the good and the bad on this vehicle.
- This will have a clean title. It is free and clear, no leans.
- This is an Auction, not a classified ad. You must register with ebay and bid on the auction to buy this car.
- Area bidders are welcome to stop by for a personal inspection prior to bidding. Please call ahead, and I will be happy to let you take it for a drive.
- This car can be driven, but may overheat. Long distances are not recommended. Shipping is the buyers responsibility.
- Car is offered "AS IS".

Toyota Mirai offers promising tech, unfortunate looks
Fri, Nov 21 2014Is there some rule that all cutting-edge, ultra-efficient or emissions-free vehicles need to look, uh, weird? No? Then would anyone care to explain the Toyota Mirai, a vehicle that for all it's hugely, wildly promising technology, will forever be pigeonholed based on its odd styling? Looks aside, the Mirai represents a big gamble for Toyota, which isn't only selling a hydrogen-powered car – a risky venture in itself – but teaming up with Air Liquide to build 12 hydrogen filling stations across the northeast. And once that's done, it plans on leasing the $57,000 sedans for just $499 month, a figure that includes free hydrogen (there is a reason for that, though). Like we said, this is a big gamble. Of course, we still can't get over its looks, which you can more closely analyze in our live gallery, available above. Have a glance. This content is hosted by a third party. THE FUTURE HAS ARRIVED, AND IT'S CALLED MIRAI President Akio Toyoda announces name of fuel cell sedan in web video CEO Jim Lentz announces expansion of Toyota fuel cell infrastructure investment to five-state Northeastern corridor NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., (Nov. 16, 2014) – Akio Toyoda has seen the future, and it's called "Mirai." That's the name of Toyota's new fuel cell vehicle, which the company's president announced in a video released the night before the car's official launch. Mirai, which means "future" in Japanese, represents a turning point for the automotive industry. The groundbreaking vehicle can travel up to 300 miles on a single tank of hydrogen, refuel in less than five minutes and emits only water vapor. Expanded Support for New Hydrogen Stations Of course, the car of the future won't become a reality without the hydrogen stations to support it. That's why Toyota North America chief executive officer (CEO) Jim Lentz announced a new commitment to drive the development of a hydrogen refueling infrastructure in five northeastern U.S. states. To support Mirai's introduction to the region in 2016, Toyota is collaborating with Air Liquide to develop and supply a phased network of 12 state-of-the-art hydrogen stations targeted for New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. The states and locations have been strategically selected in the greater New York and Boston areas to provide the backbone of a hydrogen highway for the Northeast corridor.
Scion FR-S Convertible (in Toyota GT86 form) spied in South Africa
Fri, 15 Feb 2013Though the eventual existence of a convertible version of the Toyota GT86 (and its Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ versions for America) is a no-brainer, we've yet to get a glimpse of the real-deal car until now.
Spotted in Cape Town, South Africa, of all places, this completely undisguised GT86 convertible seems to be in a remarkably advanced state of development. The image seen here was obviously sniped from quite a distance and without the aid of a powerful lens, but we can still make out a production-ready looking piece of rear bodywork for the convertible top to hide away in, as well as a functioning trunk lid. It's hard to make out with any certainty, based on this evidence, but there does seem to be space retained behind the front seats for two, small rear chairs.
With the first car spotted, we'd expect to seem some more and better images of it flow through in the near future, and if not, Toyota has already confirmed a concept version for next month's Geneva Motor Show, dubbed FT-86 Open, so stay tuned. For now, click through to the FT86Club.com forum to have a slightly closer look at the images.
