They don't get much nicer than this 2005 Toyota Prius. It is just as clean as the day it was new. It has had one owner, runs and drives 100%, has a clean Autocheck and is being sold with no reserve. The 1.5L four cylinder electric/gas hybrid engine purrs along without a miss, smoke, fluid leaks or any issues. The hybrid system works perfectly. It charges and assists as necessary and the autostop engages when stopped. No "check engine" or warning lights of any kind. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly without hesitation. The brakes, suspension and steering work like new. No exhaust leaks. The exterior is a glossy silver with no dents, dings or scratches. There are a few tiny stone chips on the front of the hood. The lights and lenses are bright with no cracks. The tires, on factory alloy wheels, have about 50% tread (see pic). No windshield cracks but there is a chip behind the passenger side wiper. The overall appearance should be considered way above average. The interior condition is equally as clean. The carpet is very clean with no stains, holes or wear areas. Same thing with the cloth seats. All the power options such as cruise control, side mirrors, windows, etc. work as designed. There is a factory sound system with CD and steering wheel controls. The heat is hot and the AC is cold. The interior looks hardly used. This was obviously a well maintained Toyota Prius. We think that there are many more years of reliable service with this car. There are no mechanical problems and no indication of any impending issues. The new owner will be able to drive home, with confidence, no matter where they live. Toyota prices TRD Pro Tacoma, 4Runner
Fri, 01 Aug 2014Toyota is finally all set to drop more details about the upcoming off-road ready TRD Pro Series models of the 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra after first revealing them in February. These trucks and SUV might not get the big engine and other mods that desert-stormers like the Ford F-150 Raptor have, but they are still a nice step up over the stock versions. All of the TRD Pro vehicles come as 4x4 models with Bilstein shocks with remote reservoirs in the rear, TRD front springs, skid plates, black wheels, retro-inspired "TOYOTA" badging and TRD-branded floor mats and shift knobs on the inside. They're available in three colors: Inferno, Attitude Black Metallic and Super White.
The Tacoma hits the market first in early August with prices starting at $35,525, plus $885 for delivery, processing, and handling, for an Access Cab V6 with a six-speed manual. Opting for a five-speed automatic brings things up to $37,390 after the destination fee. A Double Cab with a manual goes for $37,320, or $38,300 for the automatic, after the delivery charges. The 4Runner follows in September with just a single trim priced at $41,110 - $41,995 after the charge - for the V6 and five-speed auto.
Toyota is holding off on revealing more about the Tundra for now. It's coming in the fall, but the company isn't announcing prices yet. We don't have to wait long, though. "Within the next month we'll reveal that," said Toyota spokesperson Sam Butto to Autoblog about the TRD Pro Tundra's price.
What would you drive in 1985?
Wed, May 6 2020Bereft of live baseball games to watch, I've turned to the good ship YouTube to watch classic games. While watching the 1985 American League Championship Series last night, several of the broadcast's commercials made its way into the original VHS recording, including those for cars. "Only 8.8% financing on a 1985 Ford Tempo!" What a deal! That got me thinking: what would I drive in 1985? It sure wouldn't be a Tempo. Or an IROC-Z, for that matter, despite what my Photoshopped 1980s self would indicate in the picture above. I posed this question to my fellow Autobloggists. Only one could actually drive back then, I was only 2 and a few editors weren't even close to being born. Here are our choices, which were simply made with the edict of "Come on, man, be realistic." West Coast Editor James Riswick: OK, I started this, I'll go first. I like coupes today, so I'm pretty sure I'd drive one back then. I definitely don't see myself driving some badge-engineered GM thing from 1985, and although a Honda Prelude has a certain appeal, I must admit that something European would likely be in order. A BMW maybe? No, I'm too much a contrarian for that. The answer is therefore a 1985 Saab 900 Turbo 3-Door, which is not only a coupe but a hatchback, too. If I could scrounge up enough Reagan-era bucks for the ultra-cool SPG model, that would be rad. The 900 Turbo pictured, which was for auction on Bring a Trailer a few years ago, came with plum-colored Bokhara Red, and you're damn sure I would've had me one of those. Nevermind 1985, I'd probably drive this thing today.  Associate Editor Byron Hurd: I'm going to go with the 1985.5 Ford Mustang SVO, AKA the turbocharged Fox Body that everybody remembers but nobody drives. The mid-year update to the SVO bumped the power up from 175 ponies (yeah, yeah) to 205, making it almost as powerful (on paper, anyway) as the V8-powered GT models offered in the same time frame. I chose this particular car because it's a bit of a time capsule and, simultaneously, a reminder that all things are cyclical. Here we are, 35 years later, and 2.3-liter turbocharged Mustangs are a thing again. Who would have guessed?
