We are looking to sell our 2010 Toyota Prius IV that we purchased new from Anderson Toyota in Lake Havasu City in September 2010. It was originally my wife's car, and she always wanted a red car with tan interior, so we specifically went to that dealership to pick it up with these options. As you can see from the window sticker, it's pretty much as loaded as you can get a IV, with the Solar Roof package, including the Remote AC system, Voice-Activated touch-screen DVD Navigation, JBL Premium audio with XMNavTraffic and Bluetooth integration as well as iPhone/iPod/iPad/USB integration, Toyota Safety Connect, the Cargo Organizer (underneath), Cargo Net, Read Bumper Applique (says Prius in light letters), Door Edge Guard and carpeted front/rear/cargo floor mats. There are currently about 35,335 miles on the odometer, and I drive it about 20 miles RT each day, so the number will slowly increase. It is still under the new car 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.
My wife drove the car for just shy of 2 years, but now she's in a Sienna and I've taken the Prius. I used to drive a Cadillac CTS-V (which I also sold on eBay) and have had a lot of fun with this car. It's like a game to get the highest gas mileage I can. My best full tank so far is 59.2 MPG! We've cleaned the car really well (since it used to have kids travelling in it) but now it's just myself 98% of the time. You'll see that the condition is very good, there are no serious stains on the interior, no tears or rough wear. I only drive about 6-7,000 miles a year now, so I'm not getting the maximum benefit out of the Prius that we used to, or that somebody who drives more would be able to. That's basically why I'm selling it. It has given us no problems, all service has been performed at Larry Miller Toyota and we recently had the 30,000 service done. Both front seat covers have been replaced because the plastic brackets which help hold both of them on were broken somehow. The dealership says it could use some new tires shortly, but everything else is in great condition. We just had it serviced 3 weeks ago, and the seat covers replaced a week back. I wanted to have everything done before I tried to sell it, save for the tires which I will do if it doesn't sell and we end up keeping it.
I think the pictures speak for themselves. The car is clean and we've had no issues with it. It's a great car, with a lot of great features. The Solar Roof really helps keep the car at a decent-enough temperature in the summer (or really year-round here in Phoenix). The sound system is great and the Apple device connectivity is super helpful. Surprisingly there is a lot of storage space in the trunk, especially if you fold the rear seats down. I've fit way more back there than I could have in my old CTS-V. There is a small ding on the driver's door from a neighboring car door, and the door edge also has a small chip from when we opened it into the Sienna door once (oops). There seems to be some light automatic carwash abrasion near the gas cap that I think happened last week. The passenger-side of the lower front fascia has scratches from pulling too close to a curb in a parking space. The wheel covers are scratched (I like the look without them, but wanted to preserve them), one of which has a small crack from rubbing a curb on a slow turn. There's also a thumb-width crack on the passenger side of the front windshield when somebody pulled in front of us at an onramp and went over gravel. There's some light chips on the front bumper from that too, but nothing that I would consider outstanding. There's also a black mascara mark on the headliner in the rear from my sister-in-law not being careful enough when applying. I have a clean Carfax report that I can provide the new owner with that I obtained earlier this year.
I've tried to be as upfront and honest with describing the vehicle as I can, but I may have missed something. I am not looking for a trade, and have priced the car very fairly for the condition it's in, with the mileage and at least some factory warranty remaining. Again, I'm not in any urgency to sell, so I will not be compelled to accept low offers. We live in Phoenix, and welcome any inspections within reason at your expense. If you need help shipping, again, I can drive it to any facility that is local to the Valley. $1,000 non-refundable deposit due via PayPal within 24 hours, remaining balance to be paid within 7 days of auction end via cash (I witness you withdraw from the bank and have the teller hand the cash to me - which is how we transacted the sale for my CTS-V) or direct transfer into my bank account prior to you obtaining the vehicle. The title is currently with Toyota, so the remaining balance will need to be paid off and the title can then be sent to you. Any other arrangements must be worked out prior to auction end. All deals must be made through eBay, for both of our protection. I don't mind paying the eBay fees to ensure we both have a smooth transaction. If you'd like to use an online escrow service, we can with you covering all fees and agreeing to no refund/no exchange/no return. All sales will be final. I do reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
100% feedback, and I've sold a car here before, so you can bid with confidence. If you have any questions or need to see other pictures, please feel free to ask away.

What's in a trademark? Sometimes, the next iconic car name
Thu, 07 Aug 2014
The United States Patent and Trademark Office is a treasure trove for auto enthusiasts, especially those who double as conspiracy theorists.
Why has Toyota applied to trademark "Supra," the name of one of its legendary sports cars, even though it hasn't sold one in the United States in 16 years? Why would General Motors continue to register "Chevelle" long after one of the most famous American muscle cars hit the end of the road? And what could Chrysler possibly do with the rights to "313," the area code for Detroit?

10 automakers sued over keyless ignitions
Thu, Aug 27 2015Keyless ignition has rapidly proliferated throughout the auto industry to become a fairly normal feature on new cars. It's supposed to offer the convenience of keeping the fob in your pocket and just pressing a button to drive away. However, ten major automakers are now being sued in US District Court over claims that the system is dangerous, Reuters reports. The suit alleges that people are forgetting to shut off the engine, and the lack of an idle timer is the cause for 13 deaths by carbon monoxide poisoning and multiple injuries. The suit currently includes 28 plaintiffs, according to Reuters, but the lawyers are asking for class-action status to potentially add many more. The case goes after a major swath of the industry, including BMW, Daimler, FCA, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen, plus their related brands like Acura, Infiniti, Mini, and Lexus. In all, over five million vehicles are affected. The assertion here is that people walk away from their vehicle without shutting it off because they believe the engine shuts off automatically. If parked in a garage, carbon monoxide can build up, leading to poisoning. The lawyers claim automakers know this is a problem and also cite 27 complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about the issue, according to Reuters. The plaintiffs are asking for an automatic shut-off and damages from the companies. These concerns have come up before, though. Toyota previously faced a lawsuit over a carbon monoxide death after a woman accidentally left her Lexus running. Also earlier this year, GM recalled 64,186 examples of the 2011-2013 Chevrolet Volt because owners weren't shutting them off. The problem resulted in two injuries, and the company released a software update to limit the idling time.
