Only 69,194 Miles! 1985 Toyota Mr2 *sunroof* *5-speed* *mint* on 2040-cars
Barberton, Ohio, United States
Check out this sweet "barn find!" We just found this great 1985 Toyota MR2 with only 69,194 ORIGINAL MILES! Back in the 1980s, if anybody mentioned the name MR2, people got excited! Now they are known as great mid-engined sports cars and for good reason! This particular vehicle was last registered in 2005 and has been sitting quite possibly longer, rumors that it hasn't been out of the garage since 1997! Well now it is found and lives again here in beautiful 2013! The vehicle was owned by an older Gentleman who no longer is driving so several of his cars were sold off and this is one of them. This car has just had the gas tank drained, cleaned and filled with fresh new gas, also had a new battery installed, and it started right up! Love the Toyota reliability! The car will need a few things to be perfect or enjoy as a completely original car. The few things it could use is new tires, the current tires have good tread but are flat spotted. Also, the car does smoke a little. I believe this to be a combination of some oil leaking from the cam cover(easy fix) and simply from not being run in many years. Once it gets a few more miles on it, the smoking problem may disappear without doing anything to the vehicle. Even with the 10 or so miles we put on it, there was a noticeable reduction in smoke to the point of when I parked it I could barely notice any but just wanted to make sure we note it so the bidders know. This will be a great investment vehicle because of the originality of this vehicle.
I hope you're as excited about this MR2 as I am! Good Luck with your bidding! Have a Fantastic Day! Check out the Video Below!!! Toyota recalls slew of models for possible airbag calibration defect
Mon, 28 Jan 2013Toyota is recalling sixteen models from the 2009 to 2013 model years over a potential issue with passenger seat airbag calibration. In spite of the large number of different Toyotas covered by the recall, just 3,235 units are included. These were vehicles installed with accessories like leather seat covers and headrest DVD systems by Southeast Toyota Distributors, and during the modifications the passenger seat occupant sensor system might not have been calibration tested. If the sensors aren't set up properly, the passenger airbag might not work as it should.
Affected models include: Avalon, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Corolla, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Prius, Prius V, Rav4, Sequoia, Sienna, Tacoma, Tundra and Venza. Scroll down for the relevant model years for each.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall will begin this month. Southeast Toyota will inform owners, at which time they can take their Toyotas to dealers for testing and repair. The complete bulletin from the NHTSA with more information is below.
Unintended acceleration settlement hits Toyota's Q4 bottom line
Fri, 09 May 2014Depending on how you want to look at things, the US Attorney's Office $1.2-billion dollar settlement with Toyota in March over its unintended acceleration recall was either a big blow to the company or completely inconsequential. From January to March, net income fell five percent to 297 billion yen ($2.89 billion), compared to 313.9 billion yen ($3.05 billion) a year ago. However, the automaker still posted record full-year profits worldwide.
Operating profit also fell in the US by 9 percent to $498.1 million for the quarter, but sales were up by 6 percent to 581,261 vehicles. According to Automotive News, global revenue was still up from January to March by about 13 percent and vehicle sales were up 6 percent to 2.58 million units.
However, the payment to the feds did little to hold the company back last year. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014, Toyota had net income of 1.82 trillion yen ($17.7 billion), compared to 962.1 billion yen ($9.5 billion) in the last fiscal year. Total vehicle sales were also up.
Jim Lentz exposes more details behind Toyota's move to Texas
Fri, 02 May 2014Toyota's North American CEO Jim Lentz has already given us a rough idea of what prompted the company's surprise move to the Dallas suburb of Plano, TX from its longstanding headquarters in Torrance, CA. A new story from The Los Angeles Times, though, delivers even more detail from Lentz on the reasoning for the move, what other cities were considered and why the company's current host city wasn't even in the running.
Of course, one of the more popular reasons being bandied about includes the $40 million Texas was set to give the company for the move, as well as the state's generous tax rates. According to Lentz, though, the reason Toyota chose Plano over a group of finalists made up of Atlanta, Charlotte and Denver, was far simpler than that - it was about consolidating its marketing, sales, engineering and production teams in a region that's closer to the company's seat of manufacturing in the south.
"It doesn't make sense to have oversight of manufacturing 2,000 miles away from where the cars were made," Lentz told The Times. "Geography is the reason not to have our headquarters in California."
