1991 MR2 Turbo
Title in Hand 5 Speed, adult owned. Never driven in rain or snow. 99% rust free chasis Leather interior 91,xxx on odometer. Power everything More in depth: Engine: JDM Gen 2 3SGTE Starts/runs great. Maintenance kept up with No known issues Only modifications done to it: Greddy BOV, side mount intercooler, walboro 255lph fuel pump, egr block off plate and a megan exhaust. Due to the EGR blockoff plate being installed, the check engine light is on. Comes on during driving and not at idle. I belive to pass inspection all this car needs to be able to pass is safety due to it's age. The engine runs just fine and there is no concern to be had. Drivetrain: 5 speed. Haven't checked if it's the one with LSD or not. Shift smooth, though clutch master feels weaker than it should. New rear wheel bearings. Suspension: Suspension could use an alignment, as the front inner and outer tie rods are fairly new. As it is, it's not too far off. Wheels/tires: Rims are on spacers, and from an RSX. Tires in the front are pretty decent shape, Dunlop SP wintersport m3s. The rear tires are brand new Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSI Body: The body metal wise is in fantastic shape, no rust except on the bottom of the drivers side door. However, the clearcoat is peeling, and the red is faded in a few spots, thanks to the Florida sun. There are areas where the paint is even chipping. This is the only thing that takes away from the car besides the aftermarket front bumper. It still needs aligning, and the corner light is missing. Have a replacement home made one ready to mount. Headlights are HID, and fog lights work perfect. The windshield has a hairline crack in the middle (check pictures) Interior: Interior is in pretty decent shape. The drivers side leather seat is FUBAR, and has a cover on it. The passenger side seat is pretty rough. I have the cover for it, just never put it on. Other than that dash and interior panels are in good shape, minor imperfections. The interior is complemented with a Greddy Barometric Boost Gauge, Grant GT wheel, JDM gauge cluster, HKS Turbo Timer, and an Eclipse CD-3422 head unit. Switch to the electric fans as well. Ttops do leak a little, and come with interior covers. This is an awesome car, that's plenty of fun to drive. However with a family and 2 other cars I'm trying to finish, this is the least practical one to own for myself. I'd like to see it go to a good home, as I've barely driven it since ownership, and have done my best to maintain it. A VIN check on the car shows an odometer discrepancy. I have no idea as to why, as the odometer matches the title, and was not told about this upon registering (usually the registrar will bring this up). The only thing that comes to mind is because of he engine/cluster swap. Also it should be noted with the vin check there is an accident report on it. The front was scraped pretty bad but no frame damage was sustained. The car will come with books to the alarm which needs to be programed, original Toyota books, leather cased thing for the factory jack, and several new parts that were not needed. |

Toyota announces new, more efficient powertrains for 60 percent of its vehicles by 2021
Tue, Dec 6 2016In the face of increasingly strict standards on fuel economy and CO2 emissions, Toyota announced today that it's introducing a new hybrid system, a new 2.5-liter direct-injection inline four-cylinder engine, and two new transmissions – an eight- and a 10-speed. The development of all of these components will be based around the Toyota New Global Architecture, or TNGA. Development of the systems has moved forward and the new powertrains will find their way into vehicles starting next year. TNGA, like Mazda's Skyactiv technology, is a complete design philosophy that focuses on more than just a clean or efficient engine. The first vehicle to deploy the TNGA platform was the current, fourth-generation Prius. With TNGA, Toyota focused on improving handling, ride, and braking performance. The new powertrains are meant to compliment this new platform by being both engaging to drive and fuel efficient. Since TNGA can be adapted for front-, rear-, or all-wheel-drive layouts, it's capable of underpinning a number of potential products. Toyota is arguably the leader in hybrid technology, and taking lessons learned in the development of the current Prius, the automaker has developed the new Toyota Hybrid System II, or THS-II, for rear-wheel-drive applications. Performance has improved versus the outgoing model, and Toyota says efficiency, especially at high speeds, has been improved. In addition, the system's use in plug-in vehicles has been improved. For the first time, the electric motor will be able to provide direct driving power, whereas before it simply acted as a generator. The new, naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder, like the THS-II, has been designed around the TNGA platform. Most notably, the thermal efficiency of the engine has been improved. This means a higher output and improved exhaust and cooling. The new engine, which works in both traditional and hybrid applications, will proliferate through the Toyota and Lexus lineup. Toyota's two new automatic transmissions, like the new engines, are based on the TNGA system. That means a lighter and more compact design relative to similar transmissions. The 10-speed is intended for rear-wheel-drive Lexus products like the GS and LS. The tuning has been adjusted to improve response and smooth out shifts, though it's impossible to say how much it's been improved without getting behind the wheel.
Toyota GT86 convertible on 'indefinite hold'
Sat, 05 Oct 2013Bad news, sportscar fans. According to a new report from What Car?, Toyota has cancelled plans to produce a GT86 convertible, a model based on the FT-86 Open Concept that debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. In truth, Toyota never actually confirmed it would produce the budget-friendly droptop in the first place, but rumors have been flying since last year and Toyota reportedly showed its embattled Scion dealers a FR-S version of the convertible in August. Presumably, this means that a lidless variant of the Subaru BRZ is not in the cards, either.
The reason for the move is unknown, though What Car? reports "one possible cause is weight; Toyota did say that further work would be required on rigidity before the convertible could be launched, and that could have added extra bulk that conflict with the regular GT86's ethos of light weight and agile handling." It doesn't look like that work will happen anytime soon, as "sources now say that the car has now been delayed indefinitely, with no place in Toyota's product plan in either 2014 or 2015." Still holding out hope? What Car? says the project could be "fast-tracked" if management decides it wants to reboot the program down the road.

Toyota tops Consumer Reports best, worst used car values
Tue, 18 Mar 2014We often mock Toyota for building boring, soulless cars, but a new study by Consumer Reports suggests that regardless of whether that's true, the company has some of the best used cars on the market. In its report on used cars from 2004-2013, the Japanese automaker had 11 vehicles among its brands on the list - more than any other automaker.
CR breaks the list down by cost and vehicle size, and Toyota has at least one entry at every price point and in nearly every segment. To score a recommendation, a vehicle had to perform well in the magazine's initial tests and score above-average reliability results. It also tried to only suggest cars with electronic stability control. Of the 28 recommended vehicles, Honda/Acura had the second most mentions at six, and Ford, Hyundai and Subaru managed two each.
The Detroit brands also made it to the list, but not in a positive way. Consumer Reports compiled a list of 22 vehicles it wouldn't recommend because "they have multiple years of much-worse-than-average overall reliability." General Motors had the most unrecommended models on the list at six, but Chrysler and Ford weren't far behind, with five cars each from their brands not making the grade. The full list of recommendations is available on CR's website.
