I am the original owner of this unmodified, non turbo MR2, purchasing the car in July, 1990 from Boulder Toyota, it was one of the first of the new body style to be sold in the Denver Metro area. The MR2 has always been the third car in our family, always garaged, only caught in freak late summer snow twice, about an inch each time, and rarely driven in the rain. Never driven by anyone under 40, except for mechanics. The MR2 has been serviced at Boulder Toyota for everything to include oil changes, with the exception of a few oil changes done at other dealerships, and receipts for all work accompanies the sale. When the car was nearly new, a person backed into it from a distance of about 10 feet in the parking lot of the dealership , nothing was dented or replaced, the paint behind the driver's door was scuffed up some, requiring some touch up to the paint, this accident does not show on the car's CARFAX report, which shows as clear. I have maintained this car in a meticulous manner from day one, and it shows; the body is straight, the paint is excellent, the interior is free of stains, tears and excessive wear. Of course there is some wear evident, the car is 23 years old, and with just over 71,000 miles, it has been driven regularly, even if it is somewhat of a garage queen. There are four or so small chips in the paint, one on the front lip of the hood, one on one of the side vents, one on the passenger side roof at the rear, and another on the hood; these are not very noticeable unless you look for them, or while you are waxing the car, mainly they are stone chips. The Super White paint still looks like new. The blue interior is in extremely good condition, the driver's seat bolsters and cushions have not lost their shape, there is some fading to the side bolsters from getting in and out , but there are no stains or tears and overall the seat presents very well. The passenger seat looks like new, as does the carpet which has always had mats on it, and no muddy, wet shoes. The dashboard looks great as well, no fading or cracking, an inside windshield cover has always been used to minimize the impact of the Colorado sun. The door panels look great, there is no scuffing or soiled material on them, the cup on the driver's side is loose, which means it seats as it should however if you pull up and in while closing the door, it comes out, while if you pull straight in it stays put. The headliner looks great, no stains or tears, this has always been a non smoker car. The lights work as they should and all lenses are in excellent condition.
The engine runs great, and even though it only puts out 130 horsepower, it moves the little coupe along really well, it will cruise at 80 all day long, and get 30+ miles to the gallon while doing it. I replaced the spark plug wires, distributor cap, air filter and spark plugs two years ago, and the timing belt was changed out with just under 60,000 miles. The oil/filter has always been changed every 3,000 miles. The transmission runs through the gears as it should, and the clutch engages/disengages properly. The air conditioning will freeze you out. The brakes stop the car exceptionally well, discs on all four wheels. The tires, with about 4,000 miles on them, have excellent tread. New front struts and boots were installed last year, and of course the car was aligned at that time as well; this was done professionally, and the invoice is included. The power windows go up and down properly, and the cruise control works as it should as well, and it has a tilt steering wheel. The car came with an am/fm cassette player with 6 speakers, I added a used cd player a few years back, which works ok, but has an indentation in the face; I wanted to use only stock parts, so that is why I bought a used player rather than installing an after mart unit. The door locks work properly. The car is equipped with a pop-up/removable sunroof, I have driven with it popped up, but I've never removed it. The only other options are the color keyed rear spoiler and the alloy wheels, which are free of dents and rash, and the center caps are in excellent condition as well. The MR2 tackles Colorado's mountains with ease, and provides an entertaining drive through the winding mountain roads; it doesn't have power steering, and I have never felt the need for it. A look under the front hood reveals a spotless compartment with a one year old battery, and the spare tire, which is in excellent condition, the original tire tool kit is there as well and is in excellent condition. This compartment will easily hold a hanging overnight bag or small duffle bag. The rear trunk will hold a couple of small suitcases or a set of golf clubs, the carpet is in excellent condition as are all painted surfaces. The mid engine compartment does not look like a 23 three year old car, there are no leaks, and everything shows extremely well, no scratches or scuffs to the paint, and the original stickers are still present. I won't say you can eat off the engine, but as you can see from the pictures, it is very clean. Underneath the car is completely finished from the factory to provide less wind resistance, and all panels are in place and in excellent condition. Factory repair manuals and the original window sticker go with the car, as does an extra set of carpeted floor mats and a new shifter boot. There are no leaks with this car, the garage floor is spotless under it. Nothing special was done to prepare the car for the accompanying pictures, it has always looked this way on any given day, thanks to my care and Colorado's climate.
My reason for selling is that I am getting kind of stiff in the joints to lower and raise myself into or out of the car, I am a 67 year old retired engineer who has to face the reality of time taking its toll. I now see an Avalon or something comparably sedate in my future. I just sold my two motorcycles on eBay, a very nice 1970 BSA and an impeccable 1978 Kawasaki KZ1000, both of which I bought new, thinking that I would move on to a Corvette or something similar; however, 'Vette's are too low like the MR2, so I must face reality. I bought the MR2 when I was 44, I thought of trading it in once when it was about 3 years old, but on the way to the dealership, my wife and I decided we just couldn't part with it, and traded in our 4 Runner for a new 4 Runner instead, and yes that black '97 4 Runner is still sitting in our garage, and it looks as good as the MR2.
This MR2 is an exceptional find, and while my price isn't cheap, it is very fair given the condition of the car. The new owner could fly in and drive the MR2 home without a worry. After all of my bragging about the condition of the car, alas there is no warranty of any kind for this 23 year old car. I require a $500 deposit to my PayPal account within 24 hours of the end of the auction, with the remainder to be paid by direct wire transfer from your bank to mine within 5 days of the end of auction. The buyer is responsible for arranging and paying for shipping, and no shipping arrangements are to be made until I notify the buyer that the funds have cleared my bank, that is not to say the buyer can't talk to shippers, simply that no set date for pick up can be made until I provide notification. The deposit is non refundable. I don't make any threats about non paying buyers, I expect everyone to act in the same honest manner that I do. Even if the buyer decides to fly in and drive the car home, the funds must clear my bank first. I will keep the car in my garage for up to 7 days after the funds have cleared. As with my motorcycles, parting with the MR2 will leave a big hole in my life, but hopefully, it will fill a void in someone else's life, someone who will appreciate the wonderful original condition of this great little car. Mileage will change as the car is driven once or twice a week.

Jeep rear-mounted fuel tank controversy
Watch a Camry driver in full road rage
Mon, 29 Apr 2013There are vehicles that, fair or not, will forever be associated with jerky drivers. But as this very recent footage from an in-car camera shows, even the most mundane of sedans can be piloted by an ass.
In this video, the driver of one very beige Toyota Camry is driving like a person choked with rage. Though we don't see which (if any) actions by our camera car might have lead up to the tirade, we do see the Camry driver swerving from lane to lane, in multiple attempts to get in front of and brake check the couple in the recording.
According to the text associated with the YouTube video, the offending incident took place last week, on a section of I-880 near Fremont, CA. The uploader has gone so far as to include the date, time and license plate number of the Camry driver, in hopes, we guess, that some kind of legal action can be taken against him. Take a closer look for yourself in the video below.
Recharge Wrap-up: Ford Fusion and Toyota Highlander named Best Hybrids for Families; Funky Prius motorhome

The charger will allow drivers to charge their Tesla anywhere, without having to search out a Supercharger when out in the wild. It allows Model S drivers a bit more freedom and helps alleviate worries about traveling too far from home. It could also help sway potential customers who suffer from range anxiety. The charger will be free to new and existing customers when it becomes available this summer. Read more at Car News China. Audi plans to give its electric vehicles looks that differentiate them from the rest of the lineup. "In early 2018, we will launch a battery-powered sports activity vehicle in the large premium segment with a range of more than 500 kilometers," says Audi's head of development, Ulrich Hackenberg. "It will have a new, very attractive design, which we are developing especially for the E-Tron range and for battery-electric vehicles." According to analysts, part of the reason the Toyota Prius was so successful was because it was easy to distinguish from other Toyota models with conventional powertrains. James Lawler used mostly scraps to build the tiny house – complete with tin roof, chimney, and stained glass window – for just $150 Australian. It took him about a week to finish. Lawler made use of his creation at the Meredith Music Festival so he didn't have to sleep in a tent. He was, however, fined by police for driving the makeshift motorhome.
