1986 TOYOTA MR2 SUNROOF, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. FLORIDA CAR. I bought the car in 2008 in original, unmolested condition. I replaced the headgasket, timing belt, tires, muffler, brake rotors, tie rods, and moldings (eyelash and "C" pillar moldings with factory new one). I did not get the car registered till 2012, because I lived in Europe and I just moved back in 2012. The car still has the original paint except the bumper covers and rear trunk lid, because the paint was fading badly. After the paint job of the bumpers the factory stripes were reproduced and reinstalled to the bumpers. The rest of them are the original.  No accident. The original paint has now started to fade on the front trunk and engine lid. There are 2 small dings on the right door and one crack on the rear bumper (see pictures). The paint looks better on the pictures then in real life. The car has some scratches (it is 28 years old). The interior is very nice and clean. The floor carpet and seats looks like new. Everything works and is original. I paid more than $ 350 (at the dealer) for the eyelashes and rear moldings. I believe those are not available anymore. The A/C works but not icecold. Still has the factory cassette player. It also has the factory case for the sunroof panel. The only thing that is missing the sunshade. Tires has 95% of the tread.
It can be your daily driver, but I believe the first series MR2s are one of the near future hot collectible cars. The MR2 is one the few classic/collectible car that is useable and enjoyable for everyday driving. Hard to find an unmolested original car in this condition. After a nice repaint it can be a showcar. Or you can keep the original paint because some collectors likes the original condition.
The trunk and interior looks almost new. No rust anywhere. I drove the car less than 1000 miles because I wanted to keep till it will be 30 years old.
I list the car only once (with NO reserve). If does not sell I'll keep it till it will be 30 years old. Yesterday I bought a manual transmission car from Arizona, and that is the only reason to sell.
I can help with shipping (usually around 40 cents/mile).
If somebody want to ship the car to Europe he can save the custom duties because it is already paid (custom fees and VAT). I paid when I worked in Europe.
The car is located in Sanford, Fl. You are welcome to inspect or test drive. Larry 407-558-5362

Details about next-gen Toyota Prius emerge

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

The Toyota Prius is undeniably the king of the hybrid market in the United States, with a 39.4 percent market share in 2013. With the next-generation Prius likely to go on sale in 2015, Toyota is trying to build an even more efficient hybrid to keep its control of the market.
Keeping cost down will be one of the major concerns of the new Prius. The next generation will ride on the new, modular Toyota New Global Architecture platform. The lighter underpinnings will improve efficiency and will reduce production costs by allowing for more shared components among vehicles. Toyota will not reveal how many vehicles will use the new platform. But even with the cheaper platform, price will remain a concern. Toyota is still deciding whether all versions of the next Prius will use lithium-ion batteries or whether some models will stick with the heavier nickel-metal hydride batteries to keep cost down.
Of course, the reason most people buy the Prius is because of its great fuel efficiency. Toyota will aim for at least an 8 percent improvement in fuel economy in the next Prius, which would increase it to 58 miles per gallon city and 52 mpg highway.

Has the auto industry hit peak hybrid?

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

Hybrids are known for their great fuel economy and low emissions, but it looks like given current market conditions, only about three percent of new car consumers are willing to pay the premium for them. A new study from IHS/Polk finds that the hybrid market share among overall US auto sales are falling, despite more models with the technology on sale than ever before.
The study examined new car registrations in March from 2009 through 2014. In that time, the auto industry grew from 24 to 47 hybrid models available to consumers, but market share for the powertrain remained almost stagnant in that time. As of 2009, hybrids held 2.4 percent of the market; it fell slightly to 2.3 percent in 2010 and grew to 3.3 percent in 2013. However, 2014 showed a drop back to 3 percent. Overall hybrid sales have been growing since 2010, but they just aren't keeping up with the total auto market.
According to IHS/Polk, this isn't what you would expect to see. Usually, each new model in the market brings along with it a boost in sales. The growth in hybrid models 2009 to 2014 should have shown a larger increase in share for the segment.

2015 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro priced from $41,285*

Fri, 29 Aug 2014

Just a few weeks after announcing pricing for the first two members of its TRD Pro Series, Toyota has finally dropped the final pricing details on its new Tundra TRD Pro. Like the Tacoma TRD Pro, the Tundra will be available in two different body styles, with a more affordable Double Cab and a roomier Crew Cab.
Prices start at $41,285 for the former and $43,900 for the latter - not counting a hefty $1,100 destination charge - effectively slotting Toyota's off-road-ready model between the $41,730, Double Cab Limited and $46,465, Crew Cab-only 1794 Edition trucks.
As we've covered previously, the TRD Pro models come with a raft of off-road gear that should help combat just about any terrain a driver may stumble across. TRD-tuned Bilstein shocks and TRD-tuned front springs add two inches to the big truck's ride height while the black, 18-inch TRD wheels and available Inferno Orange paint add a bit of visual sass. A new TRD dual exhaust system is also standard, which can confirm sounds great (review coming soon!).
