I will start off by saying this is one of the most rare toyota mr2 that you will see out there ! I bought this car from an auction in winston salem, nc where it was kept in a climate controlled garage for approximately 25 years. The car was not running at the time and had a layer of dust on it. It was a sight to see with just under 48k original miles on it. It was the highlight of the auction "THE CAR THAT EVERYONE WANTED". I was the winning bidder at 5,000 cash. I had to have it because of it's rarity and couldn't wait to get it running. I have spent a lot of time and money to now make it perfect ! Brand new timing belt, tensioner and water pump, NEW RADIATOR STRAIGHT FROM TOYOTA $500 ALONE, new tires, fuel injectors where flushed and cleaned, gas tank was completely removed cleaned professionaly with new fuel pump and sock installed, new battery, new belts, new altinator, full tune up, fuel filter, air filter, new door lock actuators, complete coolant flush, complete engine flush and more. The car runs and looks just like the day it came off of the showroom floor ! It spent all of it's life down south and has NO RUST ANYWHERE. The paint is original and in almost flawless condition aside from a couple of paint chips as seen in pics. There is only one tiny dimple on the hood that i tryed to take a picture of but it is so small it's hard to see in the pictures. The interior is impecable with no fade and no cracks anywhere !! The car is all original with factory cruise control that works perfect ! Power windows, door locks, mirrors, removable sunroof and even the original stereo. This is a prime example of what a first year of the first generation mr2 should look like. It gets nothing but compliments everywhere i go with it. You can be proud to show this car at any car show. I'm offering this car for auction only one time. If it does not meet my reserve i will keep it for another 2 years where it hits it's 30th anniversery. There will be a $500 pay pal deposit required within 48 hours of auction close. The remaining balance will be CASH IN PERSON ONLY !! NO EXCEPTIONS.. Please fell free to ask any questions you may have. IF YOU HAVE NO FEEDBACK ON EBAY YOU WILL NEED TO CONTACT ME FIRST BEFORE BIDDING !! I have great feedback and would like to keep it that way... Good luck and happy bidding :) Notes: The vehicle now resides at my home in nj where it is gargae kept. It is not driven in rain or snow !

Vote to unionize Toyota Canada plant faces delay
Fri, 04 Apr 2014Volkswagen isn't the only automaker with high-profile unionization efforts afoot at one of its North American factories. Unifor, Canada's largest private-sector union, is attempting to organize Toyota's factories in Ontario, reports Reuters. A vote was originally set for next week, but Unifor has apparently found more workers eligible to vote, delaying the proceedings. It hasn't rescheduled the ballot yet, but claims there are 7,500 employees with the right to vote, with over 3,000 having already signed union cards.
Toyota is pushing against organizing, saying that workers already have a payment and benefits near the top of the industry, and noting that it has never laid off a permanent employee in Canada. Unifor has reportedly countered by saying that about a quarter of the workforce is operating under a temporary contract, which receives lower benefits.
The automaker has three factories in Ontario - two in Cambridge and one in Woodstock. To form a union, a majority of eligible employees must vote to join Unifor. If successful, they would be the first wholly owned Toyota plants in North America to be organized. Previous attempts to unionize the Japanese automaker's Canadian factories in 2001 and 2008 failed due to lack of support.
Renault Scenic EV takes first place as (European) Car of the Year
Mon, Feb 26 2024The automobile awards season may not be over, but two of the more prestigious annual races came closer to a climax this week. One might need a scorecard to keep track. We’re focused here on two events: the World Car of 2024, now reduced to three finalists in six categories. Then thereÂ’s the Car of the Year, known in some quarters as the European Car of the Year. Except that the car doesnÂ’t have to be European to win, only sold there. Got that? Winners out of the way first: At the Geneva Motor Show on Monday, the Renault Scenic E-Tech all-electric has been voted Car of the Year 2024. The Scenic is a fairly compact, somewhat stylish SUV for Europe only, and is the seventh vehicle from the French brand to win the award. It sells in the United Kingdom for about $47,500. The other six finalists that had made the first cut of voting in November were the BMW 5 Series, BYD Seal, Kia EV9, Peugeot E-3008/3008, Toyota C-HR, and Volvo EX30. The trophy winner was chosen by a jury of 59 motoring journalists from 22 countries. Scenic came in first place with 329 points. The Seal was the first Chinese-made car to make this awardÂ’s shortlist; it finished sixth out of seven, just up from the Toyota. One judge explained his decision to grant the Seal zero votes. Writing in Top Gear, Paul Horrell wrote this entertaining critique: “It looks good and is well specified, so makes a strong market entry. The advanced electric system and cobalt-free battery are commendable too, and it's enjoyable enough to drive quickly. That's undermined by an agitated ride over bumps, and the logic of screens and switches is pretty eccentric.” Recapping the World Car of the Year 2024 update, the sponsors shared the stage at Geneva on Monday with the Europeans as well, although they revealed only the top three finalists in six categories. For the ultimate prize, they are the Kia EV9, the Volvo EX30 and the BYD Seal. The winners will be announced March 27 at the New York International Auto Show. Here's more on the World Car finalists. Toyota GT86 engineers explored shooting brake and sedan variants, are they still in the cards?
Wed, 13 Mar 2013According to the Toyota UK blog, engineers for the automaker were so excited developing the GT86 coupe that they investigated producing a whole family of models based on the rear-wheel drive sports car. And at least one engineer - product chief Tetsuya Tada - still hopes it can happen, even if not everyone at Toyota is onboard. Tada: "Actually we tried to do this secretly but the executives found us out. They said: 'What are you doing? Will you please focus on the coupe.'"
Those mooted variants included both a four-door sedan and a shooting brake. Why? Aside from the pure excellence of a lightweight, brilliantly handling hatchback, Toyota was keenly aware of the fact that it may need to spread the cost of development out across several models. Tada says that's part of the reason why it was so easy to create the convertible. The company knew from the outset that a softtop version was in the cards, and built the machine's structure to accommodate having the roof sliced off.
Tada also made mention of the already-announced collaboration between Toyota and BMW. The engineer said that the GT86 was particularly helpful because it demonstrated just how successful a product conceived and designed by two different companies can be. While he didn't say exactly what Toyota and BMW are up to, it's clear the two are looking into a number of possibilities. It's an interesting read with a lot of
