Very Nice Condition 1972 Fj40 Toyota Land Cruiser on 2040-cars
Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States
Thanks for all the inquires to date! I have only owned this vehicle for about 2 years. I don't know origonal milage beyond what odometer has on it? A few updated pictures coming soon!
In almost stock condition. Has a decent paint job from previous owner in California. Drives well with all systems operational. I had planned to set up as a lifted, tuff truck, but no time. I cleaned up but have left all blemishes to be seen for your knowledge of true condition. I put an Electronic ignition all in one distributor in it (a DUI mechanical advance version, all vacuum lines disconnected but left in place) new plugs, wires timed and tuned. Original 3 speed, trans and transfer case, engine all well with headers on it... locking hubs and 4x4 all working well! Drum breaks all around, runs, drives, stops, turns all well! All electrical working, lights, wipers... Has a spare rear gas tank and is not fully connected but all seems to be there. Seat material almost perfect, 1 small tear. No rear heater. As seen there is no door molding on the truck now (allows for a better view of condition). Minimal rust especially underneath, I have attempted to show all know bad spots. Video available of running/driving. Nice FJ40 needing a good home. I do have another set of almost new 31" tires and aluminum wheels (these pictures and others available upon request as no more room for images here) I will sell separately off my Orange FJ40. THESE DO NOT COME WITH THE BLUE FJ40 in auction price...
What is needed?
I would suggest replacing the stock carb w/ the Weber kit to eliminate the old linkage and the no longer needed vacuum connection. Weather stripping for doors. I would put an add a leaf on the real to eliminate the stock body roll. All just recommendations, not really needed for this nice FJ40 to be a fine addition to your fleet! All part available from
.man-a-fre. and other great resources for your fine Cruiser!

Oh, Kei Go: Toyota set to enter JDM minicar market?
Fri, 01 Oct 2010Toyota is looking to get bigger... by going smaller. The Japanese automaker is looking to enter the kei car market, a popular segment in its homeland. Kei cars are small vehicles with restrictions on length (11.15 feet), width (4.86 feet), engine size (660 cubic centimeters) and power output (63 horsepower). Currently, Toyota is the only Japanese automaker not producing vehicles for this segment, but that is set to change, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.
Thanks to its relationship with Daihatsu, Toyota can jump right into the kei car game. Daihatsu is one of the largest producer of kei vehicles and it is currently owned by Toyota.
Although kei cars are restricted in terms of size and power, they are not restricted by technology. Automakers utilize different drive configurations, powertrains and amenities to keep their cars fresh. Daihatsu and Toyota plan to work together to produce Toyota-branded kei cars. The two companies will utilize Toyota's knowledge of electric and hybrid systems to produce efficient little vehicles for the Japanese market.
Toyota sells six of 10 of hybrids in California
Wed, 31 Jul 2013In an apparent shot back at Ford's increasing market share of electrified vehicles and claim that it accepts more Prius trade-ins for its own hybrids than any other car, Toyota has flexed a muscle and played the numbers game to put the Blue Oval in its place.
Leaning on its hybrid market dominance in California, the Japanese automaker stated that six out of 10 hybrids sold in the Golden State are Toyota models. And it keeps coming: Year-to-date through May 2013, Toyota sold five times more hybrids than Ford. One of every two hybrids in California is a Prius model. In addition, Toyota notes that it has sold 1.5 million Prius vehicles in the US, 90-percent of which are still on the road today.

JLR shares backstage 'No Time to Die' Range Rover Sport SVR carnage
Sat, Sep 18 2021James Bond's latest adventures will take him to Norway and Scotland, as seen in the trailer for the upcoming "No Time to Die." Somewhere along the way, the British spy encounters a pair of Range Rover Sport SVRs, the ultimate high-performance SUV from JLR's Special Vehicle Operations division in one of the movie's centerpiece car chases. Now, the company has given us a behind-the-scenes look at its filming, and the automotive carnage that ensues. The filmmakers wanted to take a Bond action sequence off-road, and chose the Range Rover Sport SVR as the the bad guys' pursuit vehicle. Armed with a JLR product placement deal (Bond drives a new Defender in another part of the movie) the henchmen had no qualms picking one of the most expensive things on the menu. Unfortunately, that also makes is a bit hard to watch when machines that start at $115,000 are totaled as they careen through the air or roll onto their roofs. The SVRs share a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with the Jaguar F-Type SVR and are the most powerful vehicles in the Land Rover portfolio. With 575 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque on tap, translating to a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds, they're the perfect weapon for chasing a super-spy down a dirt road. As for Bond himself, 007 makes his escape in a decades-old yellow Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Specifically, it's a 90-series, a smaller version built from 1996 to 2002 that was never sold in the U.S. but remains popular in other parts of the world. The most powerful engine had just 190 horsepower from a 3.4 liter V6 shared with the similar-era 4Runner. Despite the power discrepancy, Bond manages to dispatch the Range Rovers in spectacular fashion. Wait, this is a Range Rover promo, right? "All the stunts are for real, there's nothing that's CGI'ed," said Neil Layton, the film's action vehicle coordinator. "So to make the cars more dramatic on the screen, we had to turn off a lot of safety feature aids that's on there." Interestingly, another non-JLR product shows up in the video as well. The camera car is a blacked out (to minimize reflection in other cars) Ford F-150 Raptor outfitted with a massive rooftop boom. "No Time to Die" is hits the screens on October 8.
