Hello I have a 1965 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER FJ45LV for sale. The FJ45LV version is one of the rarest Landcruisers ever made. The IH8MUD.com  FJ45LV registry has less than a hundred of these trucks accounted for. The few that have been professionally restored and gone on the market have sold for as much as 82500$. (check  http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?ln=1556&aid=283 If youre looking to build a vintage Landcruiser and want something that will stand out more than the common FJ40 have a look. Its going to take time and effort to correctly restore this truck but the restored value of the truck will be well worth the investment. This is the one to restore. The best part of this truck is that its an unmolested nearly complete truck as it was sold in 1965. Imagine how cool it would have been to see this truck sitting on a car lot brand new! It comes with a title. NO RESERVE       Thanks Rich

The truck comes nearly complete, the only parts I saw missing were
light lens, one of the seats, rearview mirror, rear emblem, couple broken window cranks,
Comes with one original (at least that is what I was told) bench seat, not sure if it is the front or rear seat
Comes with the heater that goes where the wiring breaker is in the center below the dash
Comes with a original spare tire holder and original split rim
All glass is there and in good shape
The dash is in really good condition
I have found no collision damage other than the hood has a dent
The engine appears to be original and complete

The truck has rust that needs to dealt with. The worst part is the front floor under the seats, the rear sill, and the rear lower quarter panels. The front part of the floor under seats will need to be replaced.  I have found zero bondo, basically what you see is what you get. I pulled out the headliner and carpet to expose as much as possible.

I have not tried to start the engine and am not going to try and start the engine. I dont know if it runs or not.

I have a nice set of Landcruiser split rims with tires that I am willing to sell separately if the buyer wants them.

Its located in sunny San Diego and you are welcome to stop by and have a look in person. I will help with loading the truck for shipping but the shipping details are the buyers responsibility please do not ask me how much it will cost to ship it to you.

On Mar-03-14 at 23:10:42 PST, seller added the following information:

I never see FJ45LV Landcruisers up for sale basically anywhere so I was shocked to see two other ones for sale on Ebay. I was really interested to see high the bidding would go but both guys closed their listings before the auction was completed. As a regular buyer on Ebay its really annoying when people pull their trucks early, especially when they have it advertised with no reserve price. Ive been getting offers to sell my truck outside of Ebay as well but Im not going to do that. Im going to let it ride til the end of the auction. So if youre genuinely interested throw in a bid... by the end of the week someone will be buying this FJ45LV.

Expedition drives from Russia to Canada over North Pole...

Tue, 21 May 2013

No, a Ford Expedition did not drive from Russia to Canada via the North Pole, but that's exactly what a team of intrepid explorers accomplished recently. Using specially-modified buses with massive tires, the group slowly drove 2,485 miles in 70 days over drifting ice, occasionally using a pickaxe to clear a path and staying on guard for chasms that could open up and plunge the team into the frigid arctic waters. Average speeds were about 6 mph, "at the speed of a (farm) tractor." While the big tires technically allowed the buses to float if the need arose, the team preferred to stay out of the water to keep the suspension from getting coated in thick, hard ice. Falling in on foot would mean almost certain death.
According to Phys.org, the buses were powered by Toyota diesel engines, but were built with prototype parts from a previous driving expedition to the North Pole. Right now, the machines are parked in a garage in Canada's Resolute Bay while the the team rests up with family back home. They plan to continue their trek to back across the Bering Straight to Russia. If successful, the team may eventually offer a version of their buses for commercial sale.

Brand new cars are being sold with defective Takata airbags

Wed, Jun 1 2016

If you just bought a 2016 Audi TT, 2017 Audi R8, 2016–17 Mitsubishi i-MiEV, or 2016 Volkswagen CC, we have some unsettling news for you. A report provided to a US Senate committee that oversees the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and reported on by Automotive News claims these vehicles were sold with defective Takata airbags. And it gets worse. Toyota and FCA are called out in the report for continuing to build vehicles that will need to be recalled down the line for the same issue. That's not all. The report also states that of the airbags that have been replaced already in the Takata recall campaign, 2.1 million will need to eventually be replaced again. They don't have the drying agent that prevents the degradation of the ammonium nitrate, which can lead to explosions that can destroy the airbag housing and propel metal fragments at occupants. So these airbags are out there already. We're not done yet. There's also a stockpile of about 580,000 airbags waiting to be installed in cars coming in to have their defective airbags replaced. These 580k airbags also don't have the drying agent. They'll need to be replaced down the road, too. A new vehicle with a defective Takata airbag should be safe to drive, but that margin of safety decreases with time. If all this has you spinning around in a frustrated, agitated mess, there's a silver lining that is better than it sounds. So take a breath, run your fingers through your hair, and read on. Our best evidence right now demonstrates that defective Takata airbags – those without the drying agent that prevents humidity from degrading the ammonium nitrate propellant – aren't dangerous yet. It takes a long period of time combined with high humidity for them to reach the point where they can rupture their housing and cause serious injury. It's a matter of years, not days. So a new vehicle with a defective Takata airbag should be safe to drive, but that margin of safety decreases with time – and six years seems to be about as early as the degradation happens in the worst possible scenario. All this is small comfort for the millions of people who just realized their brand-new car has a time bomb installed in the wheel or dashboard, or the owners who waited patiently to have their airbags replaced only to discover that the new airbag is probably defective in the same way (although newer and safer!) as the old one.
