Please Read Carefully:

Up for auction in this listing is a completely customized, total frame off, every nut and bolt, and extremely detailed, restoration!   A restoration to a level “above and beyond” most restorations you’ll ever see.  It is important to understand, the FJ40 shown, is not the one for sale in this listing.  It is only a representation of what’s being offered.

Please read on:

Hemming’s Motor News, the April 2014 issue, predicted a “sharp rise in Toyota FJ40 values for 2014”. It also mentions the FJ40 as being one of the top investment values you’ll find.  Imagine if you could purchase one of these FJ40’s, have every inch of it showroom condition,  -and-  with all your favorite options.  An absolute show stopper!! That’s exactly what I’m offering in this listing. A custom built Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 to your specifications.

**********************************************************************************************************

I’ll start with a straight and totally rust free FJ40 in great condition. From there, I'll completely disassemble every nut and bolt, have the frame and parts sandblasted, frame powder coated, and then begin the build according to your own blueprints. Absolutely no short cuts!  Obviously, this is not something that can be completed overnight. It will take approximately 8 - 12 months, depending on the options you choose. In most cases, I’ve been able to finish my projects much sooner. It’s tough to give an accurate completion time until I know exactly what the build is to include.  Either way, it’s not an FJ40 you’ll purchase that’s put together to what someone else liked. It will be an FJ40 built to what you wanted!  Huge difference, and in my opinion, well worth a few months wait.

Keep Reading:

The photos in this listing are of an FJ40 I sold here on Ebay a few months ago using this same exact format and as I'm offering here, it was built to the purchasers chosen specifications. He made the choices, the decisions, he chose the accessories, and he’s enjoying his FJ40 knowing it’s exactly what he wanted. The exterior color, lift, custom tires and wheels, four wheel disc brakes, high performance V8, automatic transmission, all power leather interior, three point belts, the newest digital gauges available, air conditioning, awesome stereo system, 9500 lb thermo-protected winch, all polished stainless hardware, family roll cage, custom half doors, hard top and full doors, all tinted windows, and on, and on, and on.  These were the choices this buyer made. Your choices might be different, however, the photos should give you a good example of the quality work you can expect, no matter what options you decide.

*****************************************************************************************************

I also have a link of over 150 photos showing this entire build from start to finish. That link will show you in great detail the quality  and time invested.

This is an auction.

It does not have a "buy it now" price.  It does have a reserve price not shown. I won't tell you what that reserve is, however, I will let you know it's very high for good reason. I don't do this for a living and don't make a lot of money doing it. I've simply been playing with FJ40's since I bought my first in 1973. It's a passion and a love that keeps me restoring these awesome vehicles.

At the same time, I do need to cover my expenses and building an FJ40 to the level I'm offering is costly. As an example, I have over $60,000 in receipts alone for the white FJ40 shown. It is as mentioned above, literally a new cruiser!

******************************************************************************************************

I'll require 50% down payment and the balance upon delivery. If the restoration isn't exactly what you want when it's finished, I’ll give your money back. No questions asked!  Please don't hesitate to ask any questions if you're interested.

A spotter's guide to Super Bowl LIV car commercials

Fri, Jan 31 2020

Set to kick off on Fox at 6:30 ET on Sunday, February 2, from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, the big game will feature the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. Throughout Super Bowl LIV, viewers will see about 50 commercials, each of which costs as much as $5.6 million per 30 seconds, according to AdWeek. Originally, there were more than 77 ad slots, so several companies could be paying well more than $10 million for a single, longer commercial. Numerous car companies have already announced their commercials, or their intentions to show commercials, during the game. Here's a roundup of the ones we know about so far. During the game on Sunday, we'll be livestreaming and adding links to the new commercials as they become available, so check back with us for that post.  Audi: E-Tron Sportback Maisie Williams has experience wearing many faces, and in Audi's Super Bowl commercial, she does her best Elsa impression. In the spot, titled "Let It Go," Williams faces the rigorous task of getting through L.A. traffic, but she's alleviated by the comfort of the Audi E-Tron Sportback electric crossover. The commercial is meant to signal the company leaving its gas past behind and moving forward to a sustainable future.  Genesis: GV80 Genesis makes its Super Bowl debut with a commercial that will show its all-new SUV, the GV80, to viewers around the world (many of which will be seeing the vehicle for the first time). The ad features Chrissy Teigen and John Legend as the purveyors of "new luxury," while "old luxury" is left for the birds. GMC: Hummer General Motors is bringing back the Hummer nameplate as a premium electric GMC truck. GM says it will have 1,000 horsepower and will be capable of going zero to 60 mph in three seconds. GM brought in NBA legend and Hummer fanboy LeBron James for the debut commercial. Hyundai: Sonata Hyundai is known for bringing in the big-time celebrities for its commercials, and 2020 is no different. A new advertisement called "Smaht Pahk" features John Krasinski, Chris Evans, and Rachel Dratch, all three of whom are from the Boston area. The trio gets into full character as they discuss the new high-tech parking feature on the redesigned 2020 Hyundai Sonata, and David Ortiz makes a cameo at the end. Even when New England isn't in the Super Bowl, New England is in the Super Bowl.

These are the 'Greenest' and 'Meanest' cars in 2015

Fri, Feb 6 2015

As has become tradition, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) has come up with a ranking of what it refers to as the "greenest" cars of 2015, and, by way of contrast, a list of the so-called "meanest" cars, so those who value eco-friendliness over all else can choose which vehicles they should or should not consider buying. As you may expect, electric cars make up the majority of the greenest cars on the list, but, perhaps surprisingly to many, the Tesla Model S didn't make the cut. It's worth noting, too, that where the electricity an owner uses to charge their electric vehicle has a big impact on its overall environmental impact. "A car that is charged using electricity generated from natural gas or renewables is going to have significantly less impact on the environment than one charged on a coal-heavy grid," says ACEEE lead vehicle analyst Shruti Vaidyanathan. The ACEEE's list for 2015 looks very different than it did in 2014. It's an interesting collection, though – and we're sure this goes without saying, really – we'd recommend doing a bit more research into each vehicle and how it might fit into your daily life before making any purchase decisions. Lexus planning a hydrogen fuel-cell LS by 2017

Sun, Jan 4 2015

Toyota's Fuel Cell System will certainly migrate to other vehicles in the carmaker's lineup, but Australian car site Motoring reports that one of the models at the head of the queue is the Lexus LS. According to its sources, the executive barge powered by hydrogen will be released by 2017 and take the top spot in the range, rolling in above the LS Hybrid. We're told that Toyota engineers will find a way to slide two hydrogen tanks into its bodywork with the same general setup as on the Mirai – one under the rear seats and another under the rear parcel shelf. The 150-kW fuel cell stack will be placed under the front seats. Motoring says the resulting sedan and its 220-kW electric motor would come in "at around 2,100 kg," which is 4,620 pounds; that's a ginormous 539 pounds less than the listed curb weight of the current LS Hybrid, and 387 pounds more than the standard LS. Assuming all goes as planned, it would have a range of roughly 238 miles, a few dozens less than the Mirai's range of about 300 miles. It would look slightly different, too, the front end getting larger intakes to cool the power unit. It wouldn't surprise us if Lexus does have a hydrogen LS planned – it would be a statement car, and the company likes making statements, even if few heed them; it has stuck with its LS 600h for the past seven years, yet of the 7,539 LS models sold through the end of November this year, only 61 of them were hybrids. The timing would be intriguing, however; by the time the LS hybrid came out, Lexus had already worked over its filet-and-potatoes models. And if the hydrogen version is going to come in above the $120,440 hybrid, well, that will be a statement indeed.
