Hi. Thank you for looking at my auction.  I'm selling this beautifully restored 1978 fj40 for a lady friend of mine.
It has been a southern vehicle all its life.  It has a stock rebuilt 2F motor, roughly 4,000 miles ago.  This is a frame
off stainless nut and bolt restoration.  It also has been rhino lined inside and underneath. It is always garaged, never off road, and never in the rain.  This fj was taken to local car show events and driven locally in town.  This restoration took place about five years ago.  Here is a list of the upgrades.

  • 4 Wheel disc brakes and calipers with an added proportioning valve.
  • Stainless steel brake lines on rear.
  • GM power brake booster.
  • Power steering
  • Brand new suspension with shocks and greaseable shackles that were purchased at TPI (4 inch).
  • 1982 fj40 rims with bfgoodrich all terrain KO's. 33x10.50, with less than 4,000miles.
  • Professionally installed Sony digital media player with Blue Tooth that is hooked up with JBL speakers front and rear that is ready for your iphone or droid. (high quality sound).
  • Best Top bikini top.
  • Porcelain header.
  • New complete exhaust.
  • Electronic ignition.
  • Rear lamp guards.
  • New OEM sun visors.
  • New stainless steel mirrors.
  • All new OEM emblems.
  • Rear seat is covered in black leather.
  • Superwinch lockout hubs.
  • Optima red top battery.
This fj40 was done in base coat, clear coat Sherwin Williams paint. It shifts like new, drives straight and turns easily with a finger.  This vehicle does not have a hardtop or doors. I found several that I could have bought but never took the time to go and look at what was available. I did notice when this vehicle sits for a period of time, it has a slight wheel seal leak and light radiator leak which can easily be fixed. To fully appreciate the quality of the build, one should see this fj40 in person.  It looks mint and is always highly complimented. I would prefer the new owner to view this vehicle in person before payment if possible.  I require a $500. non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of closed auction.  The remainder is bank to bank wire transfer(must clear first) within 7 days of the closed auction.  After the deposit is made, you can surely look and inspect the vehicle in person before you pay the remainder.  I welcome any third party inspection during the auction, done in my shop under my supervision over a pit in my well lit garage.  Serious inquiries only. The fj40 is sold as is. No warranty. I will not ship the Toyota but will assist in arranging same.  If you have less than 10 feedbacks please contact me before bidding. Thank you for looking at my fj40 and good luck bidding.

Customers want wireless charging in next-gen Prius Plug-In; they might get it

Tue, Jul 8 2014

Could 2016 be the year prospective Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid buyers are waiting for? Why, yes, says an unidentified Toyota spokesman. That's according to Plug-in Cars, which reports that a wireless plug-in vehicle charging system may be less than two years away for the Prius Plug-in. WiTricity has, for a few years, been developing its magnetic resonance wireless charging system for the model. This type of system allows for more distance leeway than other wireless setups when it comes to how close the car and its on-board receiver need to be to the floor-mounted system. That allows for smaller, lighter on-board receivers, which is key for any plug-in vehicle. Toyota spokeswoman Jana Hartline confirmed in an e-mail to AutoblogGreen that the company has conducted wireless charging tests in Japan "with hopes to bring that technology to market in the near future" but declined to provide more detail on the company's plans to offer wireless charging for plug-ins. Toyota's Satoshi Ogiso said last summer that the Prius Plug-in would eventually offer a wireless charging system in response to prospective customers' demand for it, though he wasn't specific on a time frame. Toyota started discussions with WiTricity regarding wireless charging system development more than three years ago and said late last year that it had reached a licensing agreement with the Boston-based company. WiTricity has also worked on developing wireless-charging systems that are compatible with Audi and Mitsubishi vehicles. WiTricity grew out of MIT back in 2007, back when we could barely imagine how it would work.

2017 Toyota 86 Drivers' Notes | Fun, even with an automatic

Fri, Aug 25 2017

The Toyota 86 is a car that enthusiasts begged Toyota to build for decades. It's small, lightweight and rear-wheel drive. Thanks to a partnership with Subaru that resulted in the BRZ, this stylish coupe hit the streets in 2012. In the U.S., the car was originally known as the Scion FR-S but was rebadged as a Toyota after Scion was axed last year. Along with a new name, the 86 received updated styling both inside and out as well as a revised suspension and a slight bump in power, at least for the manual models. This Hot Lava-colored car doesn't feature Toyota's slick six-speed manual. Instead it rocks a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. While some enthusiasts may look down at that, automatics make up more than half of 86 sales. Still, the bones are there, and some people don't think the automatic is all that bad. Either way, we can't encourage enough people to buy these cars, as we want Toyota and Subaru to keep building them. Senior Editor, Green, John Beltz Snyder: When I first slid behind the wheel of the 86, I was surprised to see the gear selector and paddles. It's one of those cars that you don't think of as having anything but a manual transmission. Also, in an interior where all the controls and displays are underwhelming, a set of paddle shifters stands out as one of the few tactile objects in the cabin. I ended up using the paddles quite a bit, and found that I actually enjoyed using them, so much so that I'd actually consider opting for the automatic transmission were I to buy an 86. Despite shifts that aren't as razor sharp as they could be, the car's high-revving engine means that it still feels great to use. Riding an engine like this up to its redline, filling the cabin with noise, is the sort of thing that'll give you goosebumps. Being able to keep both hands on the wheel while shifting is a good thing for engagement in this car, based on my time with it. Plus, when I got stuck in traffic, I didn't have to wear out my left leg. The other brilliant thing about the Toyota 86 is its sense of balance. I loved the way it communicated its load distribution when cornering, whether on or off the throttle or brake. The fact that the nose of this car snaps right to where you want it when you start dialing in steering angle is satisfying. And its low stance and good view out the windshield make it really easy to place on the road.

Toyota recalling select 2014 Camry and Avalon models

Thu, 06 Nov 2014

Toyota has announced a rather small voluntary recall, affecting 5,650 Avalon and Camry sedans from model year 2014. Both gas and hybrid models are included in the action.
This recall focuses on the left front lower suspension arm, which may have a bad bolt connecting it to the ball joint. If the car hits a big enough pothole - a real concern as we head into winter - or suffers a major impact, the two components could separate, at which point steering control would more or less vanish.
According to Toyota, there have been no crashes, injuries or deaths due to this problem. Toyota is notifying owners, who will need to report to dealers for a free replacement lower suspension arm.
