Incredible One Owner 1983 Toyota Land Cruiser Fj 60 Landcruiser on 2040-cars
Edmond, Oklahoma, United States
Simply an incredible 30 year old FJ60. This Cruiser hums nicely down the highway at 70 mph with no problem. Truly one of a kind Land Cruiser that gets looks and compliments most every day. More than that, this is a reliable Cruiser that I believe is good for another 30 years. The paint is 30 years old and original. The interior is all original except for a Sony cassette/AM/FM stereo with 20 watt Infinity speakers. It is a beautiful, yet aged brown with factory pin-striping. I've seen many Cruisers and none better looking or better performing than this vintage 1983 model. It is with real hesitation that I list this Land Cruiser. I've lost my company truck as I've changed jobs and need to sell this Land Cruiser in order to raise funds to buy a car that will get great highway miles. I waited for a long, long time for this 1983 Land Cruiser. I passed on many Cruisers but couldn't pass on this one when I saw it for sale in May of 2013. I bought it from the original owner. Pics of the original title are included in this ad. The original owner took great care of this Cruiser and used synthetic oils. A new engine and transmission we installed less than 30,000 miles ago.
There are awesome after market parts on the exterior of this Land Cruiser. There is a stout ARB safari bumper on the front of the Cruiser with three HELLA lights. There are side rails on each side of the vehicle that will support a standing adult. There is a rear bumper with spare tire and attachment on the back of the vehicle. These are high end parts that were purchased from Man-E-Fre. They add a very rugged, yet appealing look to the Land Cruiser and offer great protection. This 1983 FJ60 starts right up and drives great with no problems. It is aligned and balanced and ready to go. The dash is perfect with zero cracks or issues. There are no rust issues with this Land Cruiser and no real dings of note. However, since it is 30 years old there are a number of very small paint chips particular at the front of the vehicle. For a 30 year old Land Cruiser, however, the exterior is in very excellent condition. The only "question mark" would be above the right rear tire where the original owner had primed that part for a stainless steel add on but chose not to do so. There is an area that looks like dirt stuck to the priming material. I'm guessing this can be buffed out but I have not attempted to do so in concern of how it would effect the paint. A picture of this area is included. This Land Cruiser does have a very minor amount of oil that will leak. It's not a significant enough leak to where oil must be added between oil changes. The head liner is original and in great shape with no sagging. The interior lights work perfect. Included in purchase is a cork gasket set for the oil pan that would address this minor issue. The four wheel drive works great. This is a vehicle that would get good looks in Beverly Hills or be able to pull through nasty terrain for hunting or exploring. The AC works great. The heater works perfect. I'll now include upgrades and features added to make this Land Cruiser truly one of a kind: *Brand New Tires 31/10.5/R15 with less than 100 miles ($732.99 with records) *Engine and Transmission overhauled at 174,896. Records of this are available as it was a $6,900 job. *ARB Front Winch Bumper *ARB Front Fender *ARB Side Step Rails *Kaymar Rear Tow Bumper with spare tire mount and high lift jack mount. There is a remaining pivot for gasoline can mount. *Rancho RS 9000 adjustable shocks *Old Man Emu greasable springs *Detroit locker on rear right tire. This is an incredibly strong no-spin locker. *Man-E-Fre 2 1/4 Exhaust System *Man-E-Fre 6-in-1 Headers *Man-E-Fre billet cam shaft (has machined in cam ring gear not pressed on like the OEM version. The cam ring gear drives the distributor and oil pump). *Man-E-Fre transmission-transfer connection case hose *Man-E-Fre high output alternator *Man-E-Fre front anti-sway bar *Man-E-Fre intake manifold heater *Mallory electronic LED distributor *Radiator replaced *Rebuilt power steering pump *Power steering pump oil cooler *Tinted windows (beginning to come unloosened) *AMS Oil two-filter bypass oil unit *Hella 100 watt spot light with cover *Two Hella 55 watt fog lights with covers *Hella dual horns *Full synthetic lubricants used in engine, transmission, transfer case, grease fittings, differential, bearings. *Aluminum wheels, 8 inch, including spare. *ALL ORIGINAL FACTORY MANUALS NOTE: Man-E-Fre is a Land Cruiser specialty company in California that imports or manufactures parts for Toyota Land Cruisers. Note: Estimate that after-market exterior parts are over $4,100. Also included in the purchase of this Land Cruiser will be an incredible amount of quality spare parts to get you through the next 30 years. I'm confident that no vintage Land Cruiser has ever been listed that includes such an exhaustive list of parts and service materials. The original owner that I bought this Cruiser from in May of 2013 was an absolute Cruiser fanatic and had purchased the essential spare parts needed to drive this vehicle forever. The original owner was no longer able to drive this Cruiser due to a rugged and developing hip problem. The include parts and service items include but are not limited to: *A remanufactured alternator *A new and complete distributor *Spark coil *New fuel pump *Complete set of front seat belt assembly *One set of cam gears *One bell housing and pressure plate *One used cam *One case of synthetic lithium grease for packing wheel bearings *Sears battery charger attached to vehicle battery that can charge battery via AC plug *One used clutch *One rebuilt differential hogs head *One used exhaust manifold *Five brand new platinum spark plugs *One electronic ignition *One master cylinder *One slave for the master cylinder *One distributor shaft with counter weights *One smog pump *One case of 75/90 100% synthetic gear lube *FIVE original factory RIMS (15x8 with lugs) *One carburetor rebuild kit *One PCV valve *One new Air Conditioning Compressor *Complete set of belts for alternator, water pump, AC compressor *One cork set gasket for the oil pan *Two vacuum actuators *One new thermostat *Miscellaneous gaskets, O rings and new light bulbs NOTE: My mechanic estimates that there are over $3,000 in spare parts and service materials. Again, this is a unique offer with so many after market exterior add-ons to this Land Cruiser AND the valuable spare parts that should keep this Cruiser going for another 30 years. This vehicle drives and handles great. The tires are brand new with less than 100 miles on them. There are several folders full of records of work and service performed on this Land Cruiser. There are service and repair manuals included. The original owners manuals from 1983 are included. I will include a number of pictures that should answer most questions. Additional questions may be emailed to pauljasongibow@gmail.com. I'm not a mechanic but will try my best to answer any and all questions with honesty. |

Junkyard Gem: 2010 Pontiac Vibe
Wed, Apr 17 2024Just over a month before filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June 2009, General Motors announced that the 83-year-old Pontiac Division would be "phased out" by the end of 2010. Only three Pontiac vehicles were sold as 2010 models in the United States: the Solstice, Vibe and G6 (new G3s were sold here during 2010 but they were all 2009 models, while the G5 was available as a 2010 model only in Canada and Mexico). Today's bit of junkyard automotive history is one of the very last Vibes ever built, found in a yard near Denver, Colorado. This car is significant not just as one of the final vehicles to bear Pontiac badges but also as one of the last cars built by the New United Motor Manufacturing Incorporated GM-Toyota joint venture in California, better known as NUMMI. The NUMMI factory began life as GM's Fremont Assembly, which built its first vehicle (a C-Series pickup) in 1963 and closed in 1982 after building its final vehicle (an Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera). Rebooted as NUMMI, the first 1985 Chevrolet Nova (an Americanized AE82 Toyota Corolla Sprinter) rolled off the line in December of 1984. A quarter-century and better than eight million vehicles hence, NUMMI shut down production after its last Corolla was finished on April 1, 2010. While there was some noise about the Oakland Athletics building a new stadium on the site at the time, Tesla ended up buying most of the site soon after that. Tesla now builds more vehicles per year there than NUMMI ever did. The Vibe was co-developed with Toyota and based on the same platform as the ninth-generation Corolla. The Toyota Matrix was mechanically identical and was built in Canada, while the Japanese-market version (known as the Toyota Voltz) was built on the same NUMMI line as the Vibe and shipped across the Pacific. The Vibe/Matrix/Voltz got a redesign for the 2009 model year, but few noticed due to all the turmoil in the GM world at the time. The final Vibe was built in August 2009. This car was built in July of 2009, just before the end. It was living in West Texas just prior to coming to Colorado. El Paso is about a ten-hour drive from this car's current location. Once in the Centennial State, it got parked somewhere it shouldn't have been and ended up being auctioned to Pick Your Part. An occupant of this Vibe had time to sample some of the local agricultural products before that happened.

This 1,000-horsepower, rear-drive Toyota Corolla iM could be yours
Tue, Feb 19 2019We were amazed last year when we learned that Papadakis Racing built Fredric Aasbo a rear-drive, 1,000-horsepower 2017 Toyota Corolla iM for drifting. Now we're amazed that the car could end up in the hands of an average person, because the car is currently going for auction on Bring A Trailer. Just as a quick recap for those that might have missed hearing about the car last year, the little Toyota hatch features a turbocharged and nitrous-injected 2.7-liter 2AR-series Toyota four-cylinder. Variants of that engine are found in older Toyota RAV4s and Camrys. According to Bring A Trailer, the engine hits 1,000 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque when running on E85. Power goes through a four-speed dog box manual transmission to the rear wheels. Now there is the question of what you would do with such a mad machine. One possibility is to run it again in the Formula Drift series the car was built for. Bring A Trailer reports that it should be legal for the 2019 season, and with extra parts and wheels, you would be in a good spot to get started. The seller does note that all the graphics and sponsor decals would have to be removed if it's entered again. Even if you didn't run it in a professional drift series, it would probably be a fun car to use in more grassroots drift events or even just as a track car of some sort. There's also one more potential option that would be totally absurd. You see, it appears Papdakis Racing started with a factory-built, street legal Corolla iM that could have easily gone on to see a life of ferrying a young couple or family around in efficient, affordable style. As such, it should have a VIN that could be used to register and insure the car without too much trouble. It even still has functional lights. As long as you're in a state that doesn't have modification or emissions restrictions, it could be possible to make this a street car. Now we're not positive on this, so do your due diligence before plunking down cash for it, but it does seem possible, and it would be crazy and awesome. Related Video:
