This did not sell the first time around but had a ton of interest. Since I don't see any other FJ45"s on the auction right now I'll give it one more try. I have lowered the reserve but please don't ask. I do reserve the right to end the auction early.

Well my friends didn't think I would get rid of this but I don't use it enough to warrant keeping it. I bought this 4 years ago with the intention of adding lockers and heading for the Rubicon trail (my back yard) but this is to nice for me to slam into a rock so here we are.

I bought this from Scott at Eco Off Road, it was his daily driver. He had just finished a short bed with a B3.3 and a 5 speed. He had Proffit cruisers install the rebuilt axles, Cummins B3.3 (crate motor) and the TH475 automatic transmission some time around 2005.  It has later model fine spline axles with 3.73 gears, power brakes with front disc, Saginaw power steering, Toyota split transfer case, and 2.5" lift.

I added the Warn 8274 last year ($1500.00) and  5 new tires (33's). Spare wheel not an exact match of what's on truck but close enough. I also have pipe doors that go with the truck (great when you take the top off). New battery last week. Tool box lid is dented and key is broken off in lock so it stays locked all the time and I use a screwdriver to unlock. High lift jack stays with truck.

Truck was originally red and someone did a great job on the green paint. Some body filler in a couple of spots if you get out a magnet but not much and great for the age of the truck. Some places are a little faded but some wax will brighten it up. Drivers door has a hole cut on the inside to help get lower hinge bolts out. The original metal holder that held the nuts had rusted away. One bolt is broken off on the passenger door lower hinge. Wipers work but need replaced and the arm on the passenger side does not match correctly. Both door vents have been sealed closed since I bought it and the drivers door is missing the hardware. Heater box and hoses are rough but work well enough for California for I was planning to add vintage air some day.

Less than 10,000 miles on the motor (new crate) since installed. I do not have any idea of original mileage on the truck it's self.

If I was going to keep it I would get the fuel tank sealed. When filled up the seams get wet. No big deal because I use it so little so I have not done it. Both seats need repair or recovered at sometime also. I have not checked but I do not think it has a thermostat in it. Runs between 160 and 180 degrees on the flat with the electric fan off. On a long hill temp may rise to a little over 200 degrees before the fan kicks in then the temp goes down as you are going up hill. Great cooling system, aluminum radiator with dual fans. If I lived in a cooler area I would add the thermostat.

Glass has no cracks but there are some scratches. Windows roll up and down a little stiff.

Will cruise 65 all day long but will only get around 20mpg at that speed.  I get 22 to 24 mpg cruising around town.

I can send more pictures and take some more if needed.

Currently registered in California and is available for inspections. Please come take a look.

Bidders with less than 5 feedback please contact me before you bid or it will be removed.

It runs great, drives great and will last somebody a very long time. This is not a trailer queen or a gussied up import just a great all around truck.

Just realized that cruiser fest is next month. If the buyer is interested after payment I can keep the FJ at my house and if you fly into Sacramento I'll pick you up take you to your truck so you can head to cruiser fest.

Had a couple of people ask about the stereo system. None, I find that singing is better for the soul. Dash is uncut, holes where old 4 wheel drive handle was and misc. from factory. Good places for toggles for added accessories in the future. Went to town this morning and remembered that the emergency brake is hooked up but needs adjustment. Right now it won't hold do-do.

Truck now shows 9750 miles as of 8/10/13.

Watch this video diary of a 900-hp Toyota Supra build

Sat, 08 Jun 2013

If you've ever looked at a car with nearly 1,000 horsepower and wondered why anyone needs that amount of thrust, you may want to take a look at the video below. In it, one gentleman details his descent into Toyota Supra madness, starting with a pristine factory example and stumbling down the rabbit hole of modification. What makes this particular clip interesting is just how honest the owner is as he explains the evolution of his car. He doesn't just prattle off a list of parts like he's reading the menu at an IHOP.
Instead, he painstakingly pulls us through the car's growth, detailing each iteration and what pushed him to the next stage of the build every time. From this point of view, it looks less like someone walked into a shop and lit a massive stack of $100 bills on fire and more like a quasi-logical progression of events. Or at least it does to me. You can check out the build in the video below, complete with plenty of Fast and the Furious references and racing. Win, win, win.

Foreign automakers pay from $38 to $65 per hour to non-union workers

Sun, Mar 29 2015

As leaders for the United Auto Workers gather in Detroit for their Special Convention on Collective Bargaining to work out the negotiating stance for this year's new labor agreements with the Detroit 3 automakers, what they most want to do is figure out how to eliminate the two-tier wage scale. However, the lower Tier 2 wage has allowed the domestic automakers to reduce their labor costs, hire more workers, and compete better with their import competition. As it stands, per-hour labor rates including benefits are $58 at General Motors, $57 at Ford, and $48 at Fiat-Chrysler – a reflection of FCA's much greater number of Tier 2 workers. The Center for Automotive Research released a study of labor rates (including benefits) that put numbers to what the imports pay: Mercedes-Benz pays the most, at an average of $65 per hour, Volkswagen pays the least, at $38 per hour, and BMW is just a hair above that at $39 per hour. Among the Detroit competitors, Honda workers earn an average of $49 per hour, at Toyota it's $48 per hour, Nissan is $42 per hour, and Hyundai-Kia pays $41 per hour. The lower import wages are aided by their greater use of temporary workers compared to the domestics. Automotive News says the ten-dollar gap between those foreign camakers and the domestics turns out to about an extra $250 per car in labor, which adds up quickly when you're pumping out many millions of cars. That $250-per-car number is one that, come negotiating time, the Detroit 3 will want to reduce, as the UAW is trying to raise both Tier 1 and Tier 2 wages. Another wrinkle is that the domestic carmakers are considering the wide adoption of a third wage level lower than Tier 2. Some workers who do minor tasks like assembling parts trays kits and battery packs already make less than Tier 2, but the UAW will be quite wary about cementing yet another wage scale at the bottom of the system while it's trying to fight a bigger battle at the top. Toyota holds onto crown of World's Largest Automaker

Thu, Jan 22 2015

Although there were hints and allegations that the Volkswagen Group might have taken the global sales crown for 2014, the final tally puts Toyota at the top with 10.23 million sales in 2014. We should really say it keeps Toyota at the top, since that makes three years in a row the Japanese company has been No. 1. Volkswagen Group came in second with 10.14 million units sold, General Motors in third with 9.92 million units sold. This the first time for both Toyota and Volkswagen to pass 10 million sales in a single year. Toyota, including its Hino and Daihatsu divisions, did it with a three-percent increase in company-wide sales on the back of strong demand in Japan and the US. Its strength in developed markets might be the reason it loses the title this year, though; Toyota forecasts a two-percent gain in sales outside of Japan, but a nine-percent drop in its home market because of a new consumption tax that encouraged buyers to purchase before the end of last year. On top of that, turmoil in Southeast Asian economies like Thailand and Indonesia depressed sales in 2014 and they're facing more headwinds. The company envisions 10.15 million sales in 2015. Volkswagen, on the other hand, "has a jet engine strapped to its back called 'China,'" where Toyota is out-of-sorts. Volkswagen Group sales fell 2.9 percent in the US last year, while Toyota gained 6.2 percent here. But Volkswagen roped in 3.7 million sales in China, a 12-percent increase. Toyota enjoyed a huge bump of 12.5 percent in China, but that only got it to 1.03 million units, missing its yearly target and leading to trouble with its Chinese dealers over unsold inventory. With Toyota on the Chinese sidelines while Volkswagen guns for No. 1 status and pledges more production capacity in China – sales there are expected to top 25 million units this year – it looks like this could be the year the VW Group takes over the lead. That would be three years ahead of its original target of 2018. An analyst in Japan said Toyota is more focused on "keeping profitability than chasing numbers" – profitability is an issue for VW right now – so Toyota might not be back at the top "for [the] coming years."
