****  Awesome 1986 FJ 60 *****

Here is your chance to own an amazing Cruiser with a really cool history.

This Cruiser was purchased by a retired Toyota manager along with 19 other FJ-60's and taken to Costa Rica where it was completely restored 5 years ago.  18 of the Cruisers were sold to folks living there, as they are an ideal vehicle for the place.  This particular FJ was one of his 2 personal Cruisers (one for him and one for his wife) and was used regularly in Costa Rica for about year after being finished.  Once a week, he would pick up the local veterinarian, and take him out through the country to service those that did not come to town.  When they decided to move back home to Oregon, they were not ready to part with their personal FJ's, so they shipped them both back.  For the past 3 years, they had been sitting side by side in his garage, only being driven on rare occasion.  We went to look at one for sale, and ended up buying both of them as a package deal (My wife thought this one would be her daily driver, but she found out that she doesn't like driving a standard transmission in town every day).  Deciding we really don't need two toy's, we have decided to part with this one before we too, become overly attached.

As you will see from the photo's, the FJ is in fantastic condition both inside and out.  As the restoration was done over the course of restoring several others, he didn't bother keeping detailed documents, but as mentioned, this was his personal FJ, so he didn't spare any expense on it.  He did tell me that even buying parts for the projects in bulk, he figures he invested nearly 30k into the project.  Engine, and drivetrain was re-built, all springs and shocks were replaced with new, all body panels were taken apart, painted and put back together, interior was re-done with carpet, custom rubber mat in the back for cargo, and new Kenwood CD player with IPOD connection in glove box.  All the chrome emblems, grill, lights, etc. were replaced.  All window regulators were replaced and properly lubricated so the windows work great.  Custom rear sliding windows were added.  Custom tow hitch and wiring for trailer was installed.  Custom ultra wheels and 33x12x15 BFG mud terrain tires were installed, and are still like brand new.  Custom roof rack, and an ARB bull bumper with Warn 8000 LB winch was installed.  The A/C system was converted to R-134A and we just had it re-freshed so it blows Ice Cold.

All in all this is an amazing Cruiser that gets tons of looks and compliments.  It looks beautiful from any distance, and would look great in any exhibition, but would likely not be consider "show quality".  It rides and drives great at 5 mph, or at 65 mph out on the hi-way.  Everything works as it should and it is ready to be your every day driver, or your weekend warrior.

I believe that someone is going to get a fantastic deal on this Cruiser.  We are setting our reserve price at less than half of what has been invested just so we can use the money for our other project, a custom 1983 convertible FJ 60.

We live in Southern Oregon, and we would prefer local pick-up.  If FJ will be shipped, we will help with arrangements for shipping, but all shipping costs, and insurance will be the responsibility of the buyer.  Will will not release the vehicle until payment has bee received in full and verified.

Thank you for looking and good luck!

*** NOTE Regarding Title:  The Cruiser  has a clean and clear Oregon Title that is currently in the process of being transferred into our name through the Oregon DMV.  We have all documentation showing that we have paid for the transfer.   Vehicle will come with a bill of sale, and if title has not yet been received at time of transaction, it will be sent immediately overnight at our expense after we have received it.

Autoblog Minute: UAW and FCA avoid strike, Clarkson teases new show

Fri, Oct 9 2015

FCA avoids a worker strike, a former Top Gear host teases us with a picture from Amazon's new car show, and Toyota predicts autonomous cars by 2020. Autoblog senior editor Greg Migliore reports on this edition of Autoblog Minute Weekly Recap. Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] FCA avoids a worker strike, a former Top Gear host teases us with a picture from Amazon's new car show, and Toyota predicts autonomous cars by 2020. I'm senior editor Greg Migliore and this is your Autoblog Minute Weekly Recap. A UAW strike of FCA was avoided thanks to a zero-hour tentative agreement reached this week. Worker concerns that were renegotiated in the new [00:00:30] deal include adjustments to the two-tier wage scale, health care costs, and production outsourcing. Now check-in with Autoblog as we update our reports on this evolving story. Shooting began on Amazon Prime's new automotive show starring the former Top Gear crew. That's Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May. Now Clarkson threw out a tweet from day one of filming on location at Algarve Motor Park in Portugal. The picture features the show's [00:01:00] three stars and crew posing with the holy trinity of hyper cars. That's a McLaren P1, a Ferrari LaFerrari, and a Porsche 918 Spyder. This Prime show is being called Gear Knobs though the name is unofficial. Now if a tweet is any indication of what we can expect, who cares what it's called this is gonna be awesome. (Eds Note: Clarkson tweeted Friday that the show will not be called Gear Knobs.) Toyota predicts drivers could be obsolete on highways as early as 2020, with technology dubbed the Toyota Highway Teammate or THT. Toyota is using a modified [00:01:30] Lexus GS to show what this is capable of. THT is already able to create a driverless freeway car that's capable of changing lanes, making passes and taking curves. Plus, it can keep safe distances from other vehicles. Toyota is currently testing this on Tokyo's Shuto Expressway. Those are the highlights from the week that was. Be sure to check out my full recap this Saturday. And I'll have some added insight on the BMW M4 GTS. For Autoblog, I'm Greg Migliore. [00:02:00] Show Logo Autoblog Minute is a short-form video news series reporting on all things automotive. Each segment offers a quick and clear picture of what's happening in the automotive industry from the perspective of Autoblog's expert editorial staff, auto executives, and industry professionals.

Car theft skyrockets thanks to rising parts prices

Mon, Feb 19 2018

Cars and trucks today have achieved a high level of average quality, with safety and technology features that keep occupants safer than ever and meet consumers' high expectations. But the National Insurance Crime Bureau finds that those components come with a rising price tag, leading to expensive repair bills — and rising vehicle thefts to support a thriving black market for parts. The nonprofit NICB said it looked at the cost of replacement parts for the top 10 stolen 2016 models, with average OEM part prices pulled from a database of more than 24 million vehicle damage appraisals generated for 2016 and 2017 insurance claims. The list did not include major components like engines or transmissions, only easily-stripped components like bumpers, doors, hoods and headlights. It found that: The 2016 Toyota Camry, which had a used market value of around $15,000, had 15 commonly replaced parts that added up to almost $11,000, not including labor, with quarter panels alone costing almost $1,600 a pair and a set of alloy wheels tallying more than $1,600. The Camry was also the top stolen vehicle in 2016 at 1,113 thefts. A 2016 Nissan Altima had 14 standard parts worth more than $14,000, including a single headlamp assembly that costs just over $1,000. The Altima was the second-top stolen vehicle in 2016 at 1,063 vehicles stolen. And the 2016 GMC Sierra pickup, which was No. 7 on the 2016 top-stolen list, rang up $21,000 from 20 standard components, including an $1,100 headlamp assembly and an $1,100 rear bumper. "For the professional theft ring, stealing and stripping vehicles for parts has always been a lucrative business," Jim Schweitzer, NICB's senior vice president and chief operating officer, said in a statement. "On today's cars and trucks, the parts are often worth more than the intact vehicle and may be easier to move and sell. That's why we see so many thefts of key items like wheels and tires and tailgates ... there's always a market for them." Check out the NICB infographic below. Vehicle thefts in the U.S. rose by more than 4 percent in 2017, based on preliminary FBI data, after rising 7.6 percent in 2016, though the overall trend has been down since vehicle thefts peaked in 1991, according to the NICB. Car thief caught in McDonald's drive-thru after placing order with owner

Mon, 20 May 2013

If you're going to drive a stolen car in a town of roughly 77,000 people - about the same size as Scranton, Pennsylvania or Ogden, Utah - you want to be very careful about where you drive that stolen car to eat. That's the lesson Katherine York of Kennewick, Washington learned when she was arrested for being in possession of a stolen Toyota 4Runner that also happened to have a bunch of stolen clothes from JC Penney and Sears in it.
Virginia Maiden woke up Tuesday, May 14 to find her 1995 4Runner - that she thought she forgot to lock - swiped from her apartment building. At 3 PM that afternoon, while working her shift at the drive-thru at McDonald's that day, she saw her truck in line. York hadn't even gone far - the McDonald's is not even five miles from Maiden's apartment. Maiden called the police, they showed up just as York was leaving, and York made another vehicle switch, this time into a black-and-white for a trip to the Benton County jail. They don't have McDonald's there, but she won't have so far to go to eat.
