This is the FINEST FJ40 I have ever seen in my life which is why I bought it back in 2008.

SERIOUS COLLECTORS READ ON.....

I have owned 5 LandCruisers and currently own four.  I have never seen an FJ40 in ABSOLUTE SHOWROOM CONDITION that is better than this one.

AGAIN LET ME MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR - THIS IS A MUSEUM QUALITY 100% ORIGINAL FJ40.  Nothing has been cut, Americanized, or molested in this truck.   This truck is plated in Wisconsin as a "Collector" plate.   This means it is only legal for me to drive it to and from storage and to and from car shows.  During the summer months I would go get an ice cream with my wife on Sunday afternoons in it just to keep everything lubed and the battery charged.  Obviously it was stored in a climate controlled environment over the winters.

In fact, speaking of car shows, this truck was accepted by the Iola Car Show in 2009 as one of 50 "Under the Tent" vehicles.  This was the year the show was titled "Imports and Foreigns".  Due to a family issue, I had to cancel and did not bring it to the show.  But the mere fact that it was accepted gives you an idea of the level of perfection of this vehicle.

There are many very nice FJ40's out there that have been restored by excellent shops.  But this is the only one I have ever seen that was restored by a bona-fide Toyota Dealer!  I bought this from a dealership owner in Illinois in July of 2008.  I have driven it about 250 miles during the last 5 years.  I would be happy to discuss the dealer who restored it with you over the phone, I will even give you his number if you want.

The pictures tell the story.  You could literally lick this vehicle in almost any spot without worry.  It is impeccable.

RAREST OF THE RARE FACTORY PTO WINCH.....Check out the MINT AND FULLY FUNCTIONAL FACTORY PTO WINCH!!!!  Finding an FJ with a functioning and beautiful factory winch is like seeing a Sasquatch for crying out loud.   For the uninitiated, the FACTORY PTO WINCH is why this vehicle has three separate sticks on the floor.  One of the stick shifters diverts the transmission to the PTO.  Once that is done you go to first gear to deploy the winch line, and you go back to second gear to pull in the winch line.  As you can see, the winch line is coiled perfectly.  I only used it once to make sure it worked.  I let out about two feet of line and immediately pulled it in.  I did not want to ruin the perfect coiling on the winch spool.

If you look closely you will notice the engine even has the required pollution control equipment under the hood.  Like I said, BONE STOCK.

The only thing that I have ever had any issues with since buying the vehicle is that the transmission "weeps" a little bit after driving it.   Probably could be fixed by tightening the bolts but I didn't touch it for fear of over torquing.

I have clear Wisconsin title to the vehicle and the mileage is listed as exempt.  This is because the truck came to the restorer from Canada.  The engine was completely redone by the restorer and runs perfectly.

Feel free to call me if you have any questions.

WHY AM I SELLING THIS VEHICLE?  It is very simple.  I like to DRIVE my vehicles.  This vehicle is NOT a daily driver.  It is a Barrett Jackson level restoration and should be owned by a serious collector.

You wont find one better than this one, maybe you will find one as nice, but not better.

BUYER - THE VEHICLE WILL NOT LEAVE MY POSSESSION UNTIL I HAVE CERTIFIED GOOD FUNDS IN MY BANK ACCOUNT.  Also, I am a very busy person and I travel frequently.  Once you have paid for the truck I will accommodate your shipper in any way I can.  If I am traveling I can arrange to have my father in law meet you to ship the vehicle.

Good luck and email me if you want to ask any questions.   My name is Dave.

2014 Toyota Tundra to debut at Chicago Auto Show

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The fullsize pickup market is dominated by trucks from Ford, General Motors and Ram, but this segment could get some hefty competition in coming years. We've already reported that Nissan is planning a redesign of its Titan truck for 2015, and now Toyota has announced that it will be revealing the 2014 Tundra next month at the Chicago Auto Show.
In the brief press release posted below, Toyota says that the 2014 Tundra will be "redesigned," but it's unclear as to whether this means we'll be seeing an all-new truck or just an extensive refresh. The current Tundra design has been around since 2007 and sales are hardly worrisome to the Big Three, so a new design would be a logical guess.
In any case, we only have to wait a couple more weeks for the new Tundra to debut on February 7, and we'll be on hand to bring you plenty of live coverage from the show.

Recharge Wrap-up: Toyota FCV wears silver, Foxconn's $15K EV, solar power at GM

Mon, Jun 30 2014

The Toyota FCV made its North American debut at the 2014 Aspen Ideas Festival, and this time it's not sporting its usual blue sheet metal. This silver paint job shows a bit more contrast. Certain features stand out a bit more, especially the black strip that wraps around the grille and down the sides of the hood to the mirrors. This is the production version of the car's exterior, which will go on sale in California next summer. Toyota also had its Driver Awareness Research Vehicle, DARV 1.5, on display in Aspen. DARV 1.5 uses technology to decrease driver distraction and measure driver behavior to provide a safe driving score. See more of both cars in our image gallery. Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry (also know as FoxConn Technology Group) says it is planning to build electric cars that will cost just $15,000, according to The China Post. The world's largest electronics maker, which assembles mobile devices for Apple, promises that the cars will be highly connected. "When integrated with cloud computing, the Internet, smart traffic and smart cities in the future, people will be able to drive more easily and reduce car accidents more efficiently," says Hon Hai chairman Terry Gou. At a shareholder's meeting, Gou didn't comment on production timing or other details about the cars, nor would he answer questions about possible cooperation with Tesla Motors. Hon Hai made headlines in recent years after a series of employee suicides, which led the company to raise worker wages and install anti-suicide netting on its buildings. EV advocates in Illinois took a 500-mile road trip to help temper range anxiety in potential buyers, says the Chicago Tribune. The demonstration, organized by the Illinois Green Economy Network, meant to show people that they can use electric vehicles to drive long distances without getting stranded with a dead battery. The drive began near Carbondale and traveled to 11 different community colleges with charging stations before terminating in Grayslake. Illinois has about 5,000 registered electric vehicles, and 450 public and private charging stations. General Motors is building three acres of new solar arrays to produce an expected 400,000 kilowatt-hours of renewable energy per year. The new arrays at GM's Swartz Creek processing center and Flint engine plant will be completed this fall, contributing to the company's 38 megawatts of solar power from facilities around the world.

Report: Daihatsu leaving European market

Sun, 16 Jan 2011

More than any other, two carmaking giants sit at the top of the industry: Toyota and General Motors. But while GM sells under a (shrinking but still) expansive range of brands, the Toyota Motor Corporation sells most of its vehicles under its own name. That doesn't mean that Toyota, however, doesn't have its own portfolio of subsidiaries. Here in the United States we have the youth-oriented Scion division, while Lexus handles its upscale offerings, and overseas there's Daihatsu.
The budget brand offers a range of small cars under its own name; most are hatchbacks, but there's also the Copen roadster and even a rebadged Camry called the Altis. You may have come across some of their offerings while traveling overseas, particularly in Europe, but that last part is about to come to an end, according to reports.
Word from across the pond is that Toyota plans to withdraw Daihatsu from the European market altogether. The move would reportedly take effect in 2013, and if it comes to pass, would follow similar withdrawals from the North American (1992) and Australian (2006) markets. Thanks for the tip, William!
