We understand everybody has a budget but our saying is, you can be picky, or you can be cheap, but you cannot be both when it comes to vehicles. Currently located in southern Kansas City, Missouri 64012. Purchased from Clovis, California earlier this year. Still on California title, last title issued was in 2006. Previous owner was meticulous. Vehicle came with several spare parts, with 2 and 3 of a lot of items. Everything was in working order. Vehicle had original paint job, but was faded & older, but an excellent driver. Interior- It is still the same as when we got it and in extremely good shape. The inside of the tub is super clean, almost a time capsule inside. He did add a few toggle switches which work the interior dome lights and exterior led's he added. All 4 new seat covers & foam. New seat cover covers in camo to protect new seat covers. Includes matching camo shifter cover which may make the deal for you. Aftermarket Radio. New Dash Pad Factory roll bar. PO did add gun rack mounts and aluminum interior roof rack which holds included CB Radio which is all easily removable if desired. Exterior/Body It did have a few dings which we repaired and NO rust found just as PO owner stated. Very Rare on an FJ40. It looked like maybe somebody use to sit on top of the front fenders or use them as steps to service engine maybe, as that's where most of the dings were. Removed all parts possible for best possible quality of paint job. Doors, Windows, Lights, Mirrors, moldings, antenna, roof, all glass, ect, it came off to be painted in pieces or to gain access to paint properly. Came with new tail light lenses, front turn signals, hood latches, interior door handles, rear flare gaskets, cowl vent gaskets and several other little items. Most were decent & usable but just faded, or weather checked from age and sun. Old plastics don't age very well, things like the interior door handle bezels were starting to turn white, get brittle and crack. We removed the old pieces and used the new or best parts included. New or excellent condition front door panels. No patches in the floor. It appears original and very nice condition. It was under coated at one point, not sure if it was factory or somebody else did it way back. Most of it is still there but old, brittle & dry. Comes off easy. We would have under coated it and still can, but wanted to show what is really there instead of what could have been hidden with fresh under coat. Sprayed with high end DuPont Water Based Paint, Spies Hecker Clear, Spies Hecker Primer. We considered going with an original style enamel paint but it won't weather as well as a base coat with a polyurethane clear. Plus less maintenance so it seemed like a win/win. Painted everything that's Dune Beige on the outside, inside of all 4 doors, inside and out of lower metal roof with side windows, and stripped & refinished white fiberglass roof. Top still has original looking headliner in it, older but pretty good condition considering. Grill and a few other small pieces were painted black. Frame, bumpers & suspension was already freshly painted. White roof does looks a little weird in photo, it's wet from car wash. Glass is all good to very good condition. Windshield is brand new, I broke the old one taking it out, had a nasty chip that split. Comes with a soft top, never been put on. Comes with soft or half doors. You will see some body filler in photos. We metal finish every ding, dent and so on, but often skim coat each blemish to ensure no minor imperfections seen after refinished. 90% of what you see was sanded off before reprime. If it makes you feel better, shop customers receive a lifetime warranty on repairs and workmanship. Suspension- Previous Owner has been through the suspension and axles. Again, everything looks amazing, brand new, freshly painted axles housings, frame, steer components, you name it. New shackles, hardware, shocks and so on. In photos you can see they are nice but have some gray & white polishing compound which got wet and ran out of cracks & crevices, making it looks a little dirty. Photos don't it justice. Tires & Wheels- New Tires, 31x10.5x15 Cooper S/T's, Wheels look new, may have receipt, very new chrome condition. Drive Train- All Matching #'s Engine and T-Case both recently rebuild by previous owner, documentation included. Transmission shifts great, engine & compartment, accessories & wiring look brand new. New Smog Pump and emissions test passed in CA New Radiator New Battery New Exhaust System and more I'm sure Winch, if I remember correctly, it's a Chicago brand. We didn't have to purchase much to complete it, this is what we did get: New Sylvania H4 sealed beam head lights. New Front & Rear door weather strips New Land Cruiser Emblems for fenders Known Issues: Window rubber seals are older, maybe original but it good shape still. Not splitting or dry rotting. Good enough we could pop them out and reuse after paint. Nice in Appearance.(Not really an issue, just saying). Door windows roll down a little tough. I'm not sure if it needs new felt window guides or if they have been replaced and are still really tight, leaning towards originals. May have dry gears in regulator and just need lube. Haven't diagnosed yet. Does come with an extra window regulator or two, used condition. Reused weather strip between tub & hard top due to spare of the moment ordeal, would have rather replaced it. The left rear wheel flare does have a crack/tear in it,it's an inch or two long. Don't think it shows in any of the photos. Not sure how it got overlooked before paint. I'm sure if it's a deal breaker, we can work something out. Get it repaired or track down a new one. May get it remedied in the mean time. Wow, that was a more than intended but I'm trying to be thorough, and I'm sure I forgot something. I invite anyone seriously interested to come see the vehicle in person. You will appreciate it more, the pictures don't quite do it justice. 816-835-0423 or email mikesab@sbcglobal.net Photos: http://s1300.photobucket.com/user/mi...asj/slideshow/ Here's some photos above at Photobucket, Lot of cruiser pics. A couple of my 64 Impala to show some of our projects, she is also for sale, wrapping up some small last minute items currently. Also a couple random pic of my carbon fiber Porsche 993. In the slide show, there is a photo where you can see the windshield and wiper motor, cowl area. There is a black spot in the middle of the painted wiper motor, It is a Bug, not a paint chip. Doesn't have 50 miles on it since refinished. |

Toyota Recalling Millions Of Cars Over Multiple Concerns
Wed, Apr 9 2014Toyota Motor Corp. is recalling nearly 1.8 million vehicles in the U.S. for various safety problems, including air bags that may fail to deploy. The Japanese automaker announced the U.S. recall Wednesday as part of a broader recall of 6.39 million vehicles - and 27 Toyota models - globally. In the U.S., the recall includes: - 1.3 million vehicles with faulty electrical connections that could cause the air bags to deactivate. Included are the 2009-2010 Corolla, 2009-2010 Matrix, 2008-2010 Highlander, 2009-2010 Tacoma, 2006-2008 RAV4, 2006-2010 Yaris and 2009-2010 Pontiac Vibe. If the air bags deactivate, they could fail to deploy after a crash. - 472,500 small cars with defective springs in the front seat rails, which could prevent the seats from locking in place. Included are the 2006-2010 Yaris hatchback, 2007-2010 Yaris sedan and the 2008-2010 Scion XD. Toyota said it is currently working on remedies for the problems. Dealers will replace the defective parts for free when replacement parts are available. The Pontiac Vibe, which is made by General Motors Co., is included in the recall because Toyota designed and engineered it for GM when the two companies shared a factory in California. GM says 40,500 Vibes will be recalled, and says GM dealers will make repairs when Toyota sends them the parts. The air bag issue is unrelated to a separate GM recall of 2.6 million vehicles for an ignition switch defect that can also deactivate the air bags. The Vibe isn't included in that recall. Toyota said no injuries or crashes have been reported related to the recalls. By region, the recall affects 2.3 million vehicles in North America, 1.09 million vehicles in Japan and 810,000 vehicles in Europe. Other regions affected by the recall include Africa, South America and the Middle East. The recall is one of Toyota's largest since 2009 and 2010, when the company issued a series of recalls totaling more than 10 million vehicles for various problems including faulty brakes, sticky gas pedals and ill-fitting floor mats. Toyota is under pressure to announce recalls quickly after a U.S. government investigation found it hid information about past defects. Last month, the company agreed to pay $1.2 billion to settle that investigation. It also paid fines totaling $66 million to the U.S. government for delays in reporting unintended acceleration problems.
Toyota GT86 gets TRD treatment in UK
Fri, 08 Feb 2013As dearly as we love the Toyota GT86 / Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ franchise, we readily admit we wouldn't look sideways at a model with a bit more firepower. And while that's not quite on the table yet, Toyota has been busy amping up the visual firepower of its rear-drive coupe with a whole host of TRD parts. To this point, that's been a largely à la carte affair, but the automaker's UK outpost has just announced a special-edition model that allows our British friends to pick up the whole shooting match all in one go.
The Toyota GT86 TRD will only be available in black and white, and just 250 examples are to be built. As you can see from the excellent gallery above, the catalog of look-faster bits include a more aggressive front air dam, side skirts, rear bumper fascia, spoiler and unique 18-inch forged alloys. Additional flourishes include a TRD shift lever and branded radiator cap. The sole concession to actual performance? A "fast-response quad exhaust" that might only improve things audibly - 0-62 mph is apparently unchanged at 7.7 seconds, and the top end is still 140 mph for the manual transmission model. (The auto gets by with 8.4 seconds and 130 mph).
Pricing? Glad you asked. £31,495 for GT 86 TRD manual, £32,995 for the automatic - that's nearly $50,000 US for the tripedalist and just over for the automatic. (Those are heady prices, but bear in mind that UK MSRPs and taxes are generally significantly higher than their US counterparts). If the standard GT86 is more your speed, it still rings up at a more affordable £24,995 - roughly $39,500 - leaving plenty of budget for actual performance parts. No word yet on North American availability of a special TRD model, but we've got a call in...
Recharge Wrap-up: Toyota HQ goes solar, CARB fights methane
Tue, Jun 7 2016Opel denies allegations about illegal emissions software as the German transport ministry begins its review. Opel has turned documents over to German authorities, and promises to hold a "constructive dialogue" while answering any lingering questions, says the automaker. Opel says that "the allegations reflect a wrong understanding of how diesel engines work." As German magazine Der Spiegel renewed questions about a cheat device similar to those used by Volkswagen, Opel reiterates, "We do not have any software that recognizes whether a vehicle is undergoing an exhaust emissions test." French industrial gases company Air Liquide manufactures liquid hydrogen, while Korean automaker Hyundai has already deployed its Tucson Fuel Cell crossover in select markets around the world. The two companies have signed a deal to cooperate on hydrogen technology. President Park visited an Air Liquide research center during a trip to Europe, where she said that a partnership between Hyundai and Air Liquide can help their countries stay ahead in the fuel cell vehicle market. Read more from Green Car Congress. CARB is proposing new rules for oil and gas facilities that would reduce methane emissions by more than 50 percent. The system, treatment, operation, and device standards would apply to onshore and offshore oil and gas production, storage, processing, and transmission facilities, covering procedures for leak detection and repair, equipment replacement, record keeping, and data reporting. "Methane emissions from the oil and gas industry contribute to California's [greenhouse gas] emissions and cost-effective reduction opportunities already exist and are available for use in the sector," CARB says. "In addition, reducing methane emissions from this sector will help slow the rate of climate change in the near-term and have an immediate beneficial impact on climate change." A hearing is scheduled for July 21 to discuss the proposal. Read more from SNL. Toyota's new Plano, Texas campus will get 25 percent of its energy from the sun. As Toyota plans to move into its new North American headquarters next year, it is building a 7.75-megawatt solar system to provide renewable energy for its operations. The solar arrays will be built atop three parking structures by the end of 2017.
