Full frame off restoration that is not finished yet. This was an AZ truck. Re-built 3FE Conversion, Front Discs, 4 Speed Transmission with re-built 3 speed Transfer Case. All Mechanical was done by a Toyota Master Mechanic.

Pros: full frame off resto, freeborn red, rino lined black inside, hell for stout leveler spring lift, gauges, knobs, steering wheel, windshield wiper, seats all restored, New OCD black soft top, new real steel bows painted black, later model rollbar installed, front disc brakes from a 60 refurbished and installed, rebuilt( by man a fre ) 3fe with all new sensors injectors etc with about 4000 miles on since rebuild, all new tie rod ends installed, 4 speed transmission with re-built 3 speed transfer case installed, harness wiring all inspected rewrapped and repaired before installing, all new light fixtures and all work, new agm battery, 5 new imported 16' split rims with new Hercules bias ply's installed, 3 hard doors that need work but little rust, Long rear seats that need resoration, curisreparts 3fe conversion harness all installed with relays, original 3fe engine harness all installed, in the process of installing charcoal canister on frame, 4 speed transfer linkage is being cleaned up and restored, new clutch, re-built brake booster, new fuel tank, new oem front bumper, new windshield and new stainless bolts throughout.

Cons: PO did use some bondo on the rear quarters but no sign of rust under the bondo - I think they just wanted to make it all nice and smooth. The few holes that I drilled to install the rear barn doors yielded no rust. Barn doors are lined up about a 1/4 inch off - I have tried to fix but can't- I think again that the PO installed a new rear seal too high which affected the barn doors and also the spare tire latch. Some scratches that occurred during install of parts.

It needs brake master, clutch master and slave, clutch fork and bearing installed brake lines and fuel lines, fuel pump and pre-pump filter, lines for fuel separator and fuel return installed on the fuel tank, drive lines shorted and lengthened and radiator and fan shroud installed to get running. It's real close to being running and a great rig.

Clear New Mexico Title. I started the restoration while I lived in NM.

Toyota settles first wrongful death suit related to unintended acceleration

Mon, 21 Jan 2013

Toyota's sales seem to have rebounded from the unintended acceleration issues from 2009 and 2010, but the automaker is far from done dealing with this situation. Following a settlement worth up to $1.4 billion for economic loss to affected vehicle owners, Toyota has settled rather than going to trial in a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from an accident in Utah in 2010 that left two passengers dead. This isn't the first case in which Toyota has settled, but it was the first among a consolidated group of cases being held in Santa Ana, CA.
According to The Detroit News, this case was scheduled to take place next month, and it was for a November 2010 incident in which Paul Van Alfen and Charlene James Lloyd were killed in a Camry when, based on findings by the Utah Highway Patrol, the accelerator got stuck causing the car to speed out of control and hit a wall; the terms of the settlement were not announced.
The article says that while Toyota will settle on some cases, it doesn't plan on settling on all of them as it still wants to be able to "defend [its] product at trial." This will probably be the case in suits claiming that software for the drive-by-wire accelerator was the cause of an accident in a Toyota or Lexus vehicle. The question of whether or not the electronic accelerator played any role in this problem has been a hot-button topic since the beginning. Toyota has issued recalls in the past to attempt to prevent unintended acceleration caused by trapped floor mats and faulty accelerator pedals, but it also says driver error was to blame in some instances.

4th-gen Toyota Prius production delayed by 6 months

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

If you were holding off buying a new car in anticipation of the fourth-generation Toyota Prius arriving in 2015, your wait might be a little longer. Company insiders are claiming that production of the bestselling hybrid is being pushed back from spring to possibly as late as December 2015. Toyota is reportedly still making alterations to make sure everything is just right before it unleashes the all-important, efficient hatch on a waiting public.
According to unnamed sources speaking to Automotive News Europe, the main reasons for the delay aren't completely known. It's believed the engineers are still working on making the hybrid powertrain more efficient and improving the new Toyota Global Architecture modular platform. The insiders claim that the final production prototype of the Prius is still under development, and it might be November before it's finalized. From there, it usually takes around 12 months to tool up and for the first car to roll off the assembly line. It would be another year after that before the plug-in variant starts assembly. The national manager of Toyota Product Communications, Michael Kroll, told AutoblogGreen, "As you might expect, we can't comment on future product plans."
Despite the delay, some potential details have already emerged about the new hybrid. A company spokesperson recently told Autoblog via email that Toyota is engineering the next-gen Prius to have smaller, more power-dense electric motors and greater thermal efficiency. The new modular platform is also rumored reduce weight, and the changes could lead to a targeted 10 percent improvement in fuel economy.

Recharge Wrap-up: New and old Audis get greener, as does US electricity

Thu, Aug 21 2014

Audi has made environmental improvements to the its TT while boosting performance. The new TT sees an 11-percent reduction in emissions, and up to 14 percent more power. Audi says that each TT will save around 5.5 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions over its lifecycle. Additionally, the TT's manufacturing process has been cleaned up a bit, reducing emissions by about nine percent. Read more in the press release, below, or see Audi's lifecycle assessment here. Speaking of greening up Audis, Al Swackhammer of Washington converted his 1960 Audi DKW 1000S to run on electric power. Swackhammer first fell in love with the Audi Ur-Quattro, became an enthusiast of Audi and Volkswagen cars, and has owned nothing else ever since. With his DKW, he combined his passion for the classic car with his responsibility to the environment. "I am pleased that I did this project," says the happy owner, "and I enjoy driving it very dearly." Meet the man and his beloved electric Audi DKW in the video below. Toyota has chosen a sustainable design firm, Corgan, as the lead architect for its new North American headquarters. The new campus will be built in Plano, TX, and will be the workplace of about 4,000 Toyota employees. Corgan, who has already done 47 LEED certified projects, is already designing a temporary office for the site while it finishes the project. Toyota expects to begin working from the site in late 2016 or early 2017. Learn more in the press release below. In July, all new electrical generating capacity in the US came from renewable sources. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Office of Energy Projects' newest "Energy Infrastructure Update" report says new electric generation put into service last month came from wind (379 megawatts), solar (21 megawatts) and hydro (5 megawatts). So far this year, 53 percent of new energy generation capacity has come from various renewable sources, and none from coal or nuclear. Currently, renewable energy accounts for 16.3 percent of the US electric generation capacity, providing about 14 percent of actual electricity.
