1997 Toyota Landcruser. 40th Anniversary Edition. I am the original owner. My kids all grew up in this car. This car has 254,000 original miles. I have recently done the following: New Michelin LTX tires all the way around, new brakes, oil change, new front shocks, new motor mounts ( all 3 ), new windshield, new front leather, new paint (see details on Facebook...Bufffalo Body Works), Powder coated brush guard. Dash is perfect. No cracks. The vehicle runs perfect. Does 90mph on the highway smooth and steady. Tight turning radius. Perfectly balanced. Does not eat tires or brakes. We get 45K out of the Michelin LTX every time. Alignment is perfect. Front wheel bearings need to be replaced at some point. A/C is original and blows ice cold. Has auto setting which is very nice. This car is all original. I have never replaced the alternator, a/c compressor, or water pump. The transmission has never been opened and is all original. Never replaced or fixed. Shifts perfectly. Overdrive button perfect for downshifting coming off the highway. I replaced the radiator about 3 years ago and the power steering reservoir last December. All work done at Toyota Dealership. Belts and hoses are good. Engine is quiet. Uses about a quart of oil every 1000 miles. Oil pressure gauge is not functioning, (sensor or relay issue) Seats are in fully extended position. Forward/backward front seat motors are fried on both sides, but recline/upright motors work normally. Lumbar support works normally. 3rd row seating included and fold up perfectly. All leather. No tears. Purchased as wood trim delete. Rear heater works fine. Sunroof is electric and works well. Front window motors are sluggish but function adequately. 3rd row windows are sliders, work well. Sound system is excellent. I installed an amplified subwoofer which is nice but can be easily removed. Otherwise, stereo is stock. Full rich sound. CD player works perfectly. All books and keys included. I purchased this Landcruiser in Gainesville, Florida from Gatorland Toyota in 1996/97 for approximately $60K. I am reluctant to sell it, but I have too many cars and this is a good one for anybody who knows the heritage and reliability of these vehicles. They are truly amazing considering how over engineered they are and how little they use tires or brakes. Too numerous qualities to go on about. This car is a part of my family and every bit as reliable. This car has never been in an accident. No collision history whatsoever. Price reduced. Asking $12,500. Car is located just outside of Orlando. Prospective buyers welcome to see and drive vehicle prior to purchase. Can also take vehicle to Courtesy Toyota here in Winter Park for inspection and to review service records. Call me with questions. 407-443-0333.

2015 24 Hours of Le Mans live race report
Sat, Jun 13 2015Check back regularly for more race updates every few hours. No, you don't need to stay up for the entire 24 Hours of Le Mans, but if you want to catch any of the action, Autoblog friend Reilly Brennan has a handy guide. And to keep you up to speed on the latest race events, we'll be posting live from Le Mans with regular race reports.Hour 1: Five laps in, Audi breaks up the three Porsches at the front, with the #19 919 Hybrid, driven by Nico Hulkenburg, passed by all three R18s. Hulkenburg eventually took back fifth position only to fall back again after the first pit stop. Meanwhile, clutch trouble kept the #23 Nissan GTR-LM in the pits until 15 minutes into the race. The other two Nissans were forced to start at the back of the grid after failing to the meet the 110 percent qualifying speed regulation. At the end of the first hour, just 7.5 seconds separated the first six cars. Then the factory team #92 Porsche GTE car caught fire, with the the #13 Rebellion P1 car taking frontal damage in the ensuing carnage. With the safety car out, the field is once again bunched up.Hour 2: The slugfest between Audi and Porsche continues, with neither side backing off. Halfway through the second hour the #7 R18 passes both leading Porsches for the top position. After another round of pits stops Porsche regains the lead until lap 30, when the Audi overtake once again and quickly pulls out a three-second gap. Nico Hulkenburg passes the other two Audis to join his Porsche teammates. At the beginning of the third hour it's Audi #7, Porsche #17, #18, and #19, followed by Audi #8 and #9. 33 seconds separates this group, with Toyota a minute back from the front car.Hour 3: On track the action refuses to stop. Although it's early, Audi is looking strong with the overall lead in the #7. What's more is that the Audis run four stints per set of tires, while the Porsche cars have to change rubber every third stop. But after a quick refueling, the lead R18 gets a tire puncture and comes back in 3 laps later, allowing Porsche to take over the top two spots. Then as the hour closes out a yellow flag causes traffic to bunch up and the #8 Audi gets stuck with nowhere to slow down. Driver Loic Duval dives for the side of the road but hits the guard rail and careens across the track, damaging the front and rear bodywork. The rest of the car is still intact, though, and once in the pits Audi replaces the entire front and rear of that in only three minutes.
Junkyard Gem: 2004 Pontiac Vibe GT
Fri, Jun 26 2020The New United Motor Manufacturing plant in Fremont, California, built Toyota-derived machinery — badged as Toyotas, Chevrolets, Geos, and Pontiacs— from 1984 through 2010, and some of the very last vehicles that left the assembly line were Pontiac Vibes. The Vibe, sibling to the Toyota Matrix, mostly served as a ho-hum transportation appliance and/or fleet car, but a factory-hot-rod GT version could be purchased. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those rare GTs, complete with the nearly unheard-of six-speed manual transmission, found in a self-service yard in northeastern Colorado. The regular Vibe had 123 or 130 horsepower, depending on the number of driven wheels, but the Vibe GT got the same 1.8-liter 2ZZ engine that went into the Celica GT-S. 180 horsepower, which was enough to make the 2,800-pound Vibe GT keep up with the 3,108-pound/215-horse Chrysler PT Cruiser Turbo that year. Sadly, no race series pitting Vibe GTs against PT Cruiser Turbos and Chevy HHR SSs on road courses ever materializedÂ… but it's not too late. The Vibe GT has something you couldn't get in a PT Cruiser or Chevy HHR, though: a six-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. In fact, the six-speed was the only transmission offered in the early Vibe GTs (an automatic became an option later on). You'll find plenty of three-pedal econoboxes from this era, because they were significantly cheaper than their slushbox-equipped counterparts, but the Vibe GT had plenty of competition from sportier-looking cars with manual transmissions in 2004. Not many were sold. This car is covered with nasty dents from golf-ball-sized hail (all too common in High Plains Colorado), so it may have been an insurance total that nobody wanted at auction. Sold in Wyoming, will be crushed in an adjacent state. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Fuel for the soul. Toyota had right-hand-drive Matrixes brought over to Japan from Canada, but a NUMMI-built version of the Vibe could be purchased there for a few years as well. This was the Voltz, and its advertising seems notably frantic even by the standards of Japanese car commercials.
Toyota confirms all-wheel drive V8 hybrid for TS040 LMP1 car in 2014
Sun, 02 Feb 2014The 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship is gearing up to be one of the most exciting seasons of endurance racing in recent memory. All of the factory-entered LMP1 class cars are using hybrid powertrains, and Porsche is returning to the top class of the sport after a 16-year absence. Don't count out Toyota, though. The team has just revealed the first official details about its 2014 TS040 LMP1 car, and it has a big surprise - all-wheel drive.
The TS040 will follow Audi's lead and will use a combination motor and generator to power the front wheels. The system will generate power under braking and will use it up when accelerating to give a boost in traction over last year's rear-wheel-drive Toyota TS030. Toyota will stick with a gasoline-fueled, naturally aspirated 3.4-liter V8 to feed the rear wheels and will take on Audi's diesel, turbocharged 3.7-liter V6 and Porsche's gasoline-fueled, turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder.
Sadly, there are no real pictures of the TS040 yet. Toyota is holding off on unveiling the car until the end of March at the WEC test at the Paul Ricard circuit, and the racing season doesn't begin until April 20 with the 6 Hours of Silverstone. You can read the whole press release about the TS040 below.
