1999 Toyota Land Cruiser Locked And Ome Lifted on 2040-cars
Dallas, Texas, United States
You are bidding on a fantastic 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser that I have owned for the last 8 years. I just finished restoring my 1989 Toyota FJ62 and unfortunately I cannot keep both Land Cruisers. I have two kids in daycare and a two car garage and just can't afford or justify keeping one of my cruisers permanently out of the garage. I hate to see her go but I'm sure someone else will enjoy it more than I am these days. The truck is fully loaded on the interior with leather, sunroof, heated seats, heated mirrors, cruiser control, dual air bags and tinted windows. The cruiser does have third row seats so you have plenty of room for family and friends. I cleaned and conditioned the interior leather on a regular basis with Leatherique (great product even if you don't buy my cruiser). The leather does show some wear in places but check out the pictures to see how clean and well kept the interior is maintained. The carpet and carpet mats have not seen a single shoe print in 8 years due to front/rear Husky Liners. I believe you will agree the interior of the vehicle is in amazing shape. The truck has not been smoked in since I've owned it but there are two small burns in the carpet (one in the far rear cargo area and one near the front driver side carpet). Most people would not notice but just want to be up front about any possible issues with the truck. If I were keeping the truck I could certainly replace the radio since the stock CD/Tape player is finicky on whether or not it wants to play CDs (I know I'm showing my age due to the fact I even own CDs). I just replaced the stereo in my FJ62 and it's so much nicer with satellite, bluetooth, etc...can't believe I haven't replaced the stereo in this cruiser. While we are on the topic of the radio the automatic antenna doesn't automatically retract anymore but it just never bothered me enough to fix. The exterior of this cruiser is in excellent shape as you can see by the pictures. I had the truck fully detailed at least once a year to keep both the exterior and interior in top shape. The cruiser is factory equipped with center and rear locking differentials for added traction off-road (this truck did not see off-road but it did come in handy during a few Dallas ice storms). This cruiser is equipped with a an OME lift, Slee differential drop kit and OME shocks up front. The previous owner did not install the OME rear coils to keep the stance of the cruiser level. I am including the brand-new coils and OME shocks in case the new owner would like to install the rear coils and shocks. You can read about the full lift kit at Slee Off Road and also research on the IH8MUD forum if you would like additional information on Land Cruisers (Ebay no longer allows links in descriptions but you can find both Slee and the forum with a quick Google search). In addition to the lift the cruiser has 18x9 ATS wheels with 325/60R18 Nitto Terra Grappler tires. The set of tires has ~20k miles on them but you can see by the pictures there is plenty of tread left. Due to the size of the tires If you have the wheels cut all the way either direction and hit a bump there is slight rubbing. My first set of Terra Grapplers lasted almost 50k but keep in mind I only put 8k miles per year on the cruiser with no long trips or offroad driving (I know it's a shame I haven used the cruiser for it's intended off road purpose). In 2008 when the vehicle was parked a neighbor backed into the rear quarter panel. The damage was promptly fixed through Toyota of Plano and I've had no issues at all with the work. Please view all of the pictures and let me know if you have any questions. Other than replacing the oxygen sensors I have not had a single issue mechanically with this truck in 8 years. You will notice the truck is freshly detailed but I asked them not to clean anything in the engine compartment so you would see as-is condition. It's a little dusty in the engine compartment but no leaks or issues of any kind that I'm aware of. Below is a list of the major upgrades / maintenance performed on the truck:

Toyota R&D shows off free piston engine linear generator for future EVs
Thu, May 1 2014We often hear how an electric vehicle powertrain architecture allows vehicle designers much more freedom than a traditional ICE powertrain does. With differently shaped battery modules and small electric motors, there are lots of way to put the pieces together. With today's plug-in hybrid technology, engineers still need to put a decent-sized ICE somewhere, but new technology from Toyota could free up the gas-electric vehicle designers of the future. Presented at the recent SAE World Congress in Detroit, the idea from Toyota Central R&D Labs Inc. and involves what is called a Free Piston Engine Linear Generator (FPEG). Think of it as a sort of one-cylinder, two-stroke mini-engine that can work either as a generator (thank to magnets and a linear coil) or to directly drive a vehicle. The current prototype is a 10-kW unit that Toyota say would provide enough power to get a B- or C-segment electric vehicle up to highway speeds (75 miles per hour) when paired up to offer 20 kW. Pairing the FPEGs is also important to minimize vibrations. One system tested by Toyota had a 42 percent thermal efficiency, but the engineers are working to improve the overall efficiency even further. You can watch an animated video of the piston in action here (click on "Outline") and see the SAE papers here and here. More technical details are available at Green Car Congress. 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans live race report
Sat, Jun 13 2015Check back regularly for more race updates every few hours. No, you don't need to stay up for the entire 24 Hours of Le Mans, but if you want to catch any of the action, Autoblog friend Reilly Brennan has a handy guide. And to keep you up to speed on the latest race events, we'll be posting live from Le Mans with regular race reports.Hour 1: Five laps in, Audi breaks up the three Porsches at the front, with the #19 919 Hybrid, driven by Nico Hulkenburg, passed by all three R18s. Hulkenburg eventually took back fifth position only to fall back again after the first pit stop. Meanwhile, clutch trouble kept the #23 Nissan GTR-LM in the pits until 15 minutes into the race. The other two Nissans were forced to start at the back of the grid after failing to the meet the 110 percent qualifying speed regulation. At the end of the first hour, just 7.5 seconds separated the first six cars. Then the factory team #92 Porsche GTE car caught fire, with the the #13 Rebellion P1 car taking frontal damage in the ensuing carnage. With the safety car out, the field is once again bunched up.Hour 2: The slugfest between Audi and Porsche continues, with neither side backing off. Halfway through the second hour the #7 R18 passes both leading Porsches for the top position. After another round of pits stops Porsche regains the lead until lap 30, when the Audi overtake once again and quickly pulls out a three-second gap. Nico Hulkenburg passes the other two Audis to join his Porsche teammates. At the beginning of the third hour it's Audi #7, Porsche #17, #18, and #19, followed by Audi #8 and #9. 33 seconds separates this group, with Toyota a minute back from the front car.Hour 3: On track the action refuses to stop. Although it's early, Audi is looking strong with the overall lead in the #7. What's more is that the Audis run four stints per set of tires, while the Porsche cars have to change rubber every third stop. But after a quick refueling, the lead R18 gets a tire puncture and comes back in 3 laps later, allowing Porsche to take over the top two spots. Then as the hour closes out a yellow flag causes traffic to bunch up and the #8 Audi gets stuck with nowhere to slow down. Driver Loic Duval dives for the side of the road but hits the guard rail and careens across the track, damaging the front and rear bodywork. The rest of the car is still intact, though, and once in the pits Audi replaces the entire front and rear of that in only three minutes.
