For sale is a 1997 FJ80 Toyota Land Cruiser with a clean title.  I purchased this Land Cruiser from my father about a year ago. I am selling this vehicle because I am getting married this month and need something a little more family friendly.

The Land Cruiser has 203,812 miles on it, but it runs very smooth.  It is equipped with an ARB Bumper.  The Land Cruiser has a center differential lock that activates when 4wd Low is engaged.  The tires on the vehicle are Michelin, size 285/75R16; they have roughly 10,000 miles on them and can be expected to produce around 70,000 more. Oil has always been changed regularly, it has recently been changed 500 miles ago. I have replaced all four of the brake calipers within the past three years.  The air filter is a K&N.  There is an after market Kenwood cd player installed in the vehicle, however I have the working factory cd player.  I also have the factory running boards although they are not on the vehicle at the moment.

The vehicle is in good condition aside from the following details: the driver's seat looks rough, there is damage to the driver's side front quarter panel, there is a golf ball sized dent on the bottom of the tail gate, there are two small dents on the front of the hood, there are two paint scratches on the rear bumper (one on each side), some small sections of the weather stripping are missing over the wheel wells, there is a scratch in the paint on the front bumper, the paint is chipped on the gold stripe on the rear passenger side door, both of the rear window motors need to be replaced, and the engine burns a minimal amount of oil.

The purchaser will be responsible for arranging shipping for the vehicle.  I will deliver the vehicle up to 200 miles for a fee of $0.75 per mile.  I will not finance the vehicle in any way.  A $500 deposit must be made via Paypal upon the close of the auction. Payment must be made in full at the time it will be picked up or prior to that time by cash or a cashier's check.

Feel free to call and ask any questions that you may have. My number is (252)945-6360, my name is Jesse.

Toyota to end Australian production by 2017

Mon, 10 Feb 2014

There is more bad news for the Australian auto industry today, as Toyota has just announced that it will follow General Motors and Ford in shuttering its manufacturing operations on the continent. Production and assembly will cease by the end of 2017, but Toyota will remain in Australia as a sales and distribution company.
"We did everything that we could to transform our business, but the reality is that there are too many factors beyond our control that make it unviable to build cars in Australia," said Toyota Australia President and CEO Max Yasuda.
In an official statement, Yasuda said that the closure would directly affect 2,500 manufacturing employees and an unknown number of corporate workers. However, a report in the Australian newspaper The Age suggests that the jobs of 24,000 workers at Australian auto suppliers could also be in jeopardy. Toyota currently builds its Camry, Camry Hybrid, Aurion sedans in Australia, along with four-cylinder engines, and it plans to begin importing the Camry and Aurion after production stops.

Automakers want to stop the EPA's fuel economy rules change, and why that's a shortsighted move

Tue, Dec 6 2016

With a Trump Administration looming, the EPA moved quickly after the election to propose finalizing future fuel economy rules last week. The auto industry doesn't like that (surprise), and has started making moves to stop the EPA. Ford CEO Mark Fields said he wanted to lobby Trump to lower the standards, and now the Auto Alliance, a manufacturer group, is saying it will join the fight against cleaner cars. The Alliance represents 12 automakers: BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, GM, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Toyota, VW, and Volvo. Gloria Bergquist, a spokesperson for the Alliance, told Automotive News that the "EPA's sudden and controversial move to propose auto regulations eight months early - even after Congress warned agencies about taking such steps while political appointees were packing their bags - calls out for congressional action to pause this rulemaking until a thoughtful policy review can occur." The EPA was going to consider public comments through April 2017, but then said it would move the deadline to the end of December. That means that it can finalize the rules before President Obama leaves office. The director of public affairs for the Consumer Federation of America, Jack Gillis, said on a conference call with reporters last week when the EPA originally announced its decision that it is unlikely that President Trump will be able to roll back these changes. Gillis also said on the same call that any attempt by the automakers to prevent these changes would be history repeating itself. "These are the same companies that fought airbags, and now promoting the fact that every car has multiple airbags," he said. "These are the same companies that fought the crash-test program, and now are promoting the crash-test ratings published by the government. So, it's clear that they're misperceiving the needs of the American consumer." There are more reasons the Allliance's pushback is flawed. Carol Lee Rawn, the transportation program director for Ceres, said on that call that the automotive industry is a global one, and many automakers are moving to global platforms to help them meet strict fuel economy rules around the world.

Next Lotus Elise to draw from its roots

Wed, Jul 27 2016

Recently-appointed Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales told Autocar that work on the new Lotus Elise, which is coming in 2020, is already underway, and thanks to growing sales, the automaker is set to make a profit for the first time in 20 years. Gales also dropped some details about the new sports cars' design philosophy and underpinnings. According to the report, the new Elise will utilize the same aluminum chassis technology found in the original Elise and won't bear any resemblance to the 2010 Elise concept. Instead, the upcoming vehicle will uphold its roots with a lightweight design that emphasizes driver involvement at an affordable price. The new Elise is rumored to weigh in at roughly 1,984 pounds, almost 384 pounds more than the original Elise. In order to meet US crash ratings, the Elise will most likely be wider, but have the same length as the current model. Power will probably come from a Toyota unit producing between 134 horsepower and 245 horsepower. The Elise is expected to come to the US where it will be offered with a manual and automatic transmission, which will both come from Toyota as well. Gales claims Lotus has more orders now than in any year in the last 10 years, with the US being one of the automaker's most important markets. Related Video:
