Hello and thanks for looking at my listing.  This is a beautiful Restoration/Modification 40th Anniversary Toyota Land Cruiser - LOCKED with towing package.  All work has been completed by a professional mechanic and he has done a beautiful job.   I am confident he would be happy to discuss the work on this truck should you need to contact him.  I am also happy to take this by the local Toyota Dealership if you want to pay for them to look it over (at your cost).  This is a very clean Land Cruiser and unlike any other you will find out there today.  This rig is almost completely redone.  So far, I have invested around $30,000.00 turning her into my dream truck.  I will be very sad to see her go, but this is a 3rd vehicle and I need to redirect the cash into more family friendly directions (i.e.. kiddo's education).  So far, here is the list of work completed:

2009 LS3 V8 Engine with Variable Valve Timing Displacement on Demand (purchased with 43,410 miles on it and installed when the Land Cruiser had 225,100 miles on it)
Engine has a completely separate fuse panel
Cam upgrade to Cam # XER273HR 14 which should take it to around 490hp but I have not dyno tested those numbers
2009 6L80e Transmission (6 speed) came married to the engine (STILL AWD) w/Adaptor plate from Australia so no modifications necessary
New 285 75 R16 BF Goodrich Mud Terrain K2
refinished OEM Toyota Land Cruiser rims and center caps
Push button locker for locking while in 4WD High Range
2.5 inch Old Man Emu Suspension lift
Completely New paint all around with painted hood scoop
ARB bullbar painted to match bumperetts
New leather on front two seats
New leather on steering wheel
New wood grain trim
Dual heated front seats
Kenwood Stereo with Navigation and Satellite Radio (HLN9990)
Backup/reverse camera
Polk speakers
Polk 500 watt amp.
New wiring harness
Dual batteries
In dash cup holder
New OEM 40th Anniversary floor mats
Viper alarm system with remote start
8000 lb. Warn Winch
New roof rack with Whispbar cross bars
Flowmaster Hushpower Pro Exhaust with 3 Inch Piping (SHE SOUNDS AMAZING)
***I have had people stop me at gas stations traffic lights and from curbs/sidewalks to tell me how much they love this truck***

I am sure there are things I have left out, but bottom line is that this is an amazing vehicle.  There are only a couple things I still had remaining on my wish list for this rig.  The engine/transmission alone sell for around $9,000.00 used and not installed.

PLEASE know that I am not looking to "dump" this truck and have no intentions of giving it away.  I hope she goes to a great home that will appreciate her as much as I have enjoyed building her.

Also - I will not ship this truck unless all funds are cleared at the bank.  Certified funds from Post Office or Major Banking institution.

$500.00 deposit due at auction close

I will not pay for shipping on this truck but am happy to work with a shipping company you have arranged and paid for.

This truck will be listed locally for sale as well and I reserve the right to end the auction early.

Toyota retires robots in favor of humans to improve automaking process

Sat, 12 Apr 2014

Mitsuru Kawai is overseeing a return to the old ways at Toyota factories throughout Japan. Having spent 50 years at the Japanese automaker, Kawai remembers when manual skills were prized at the company and "experienced masters used to be called gods, and they could make anything." Company CEO Akio Toyoda personally chose Kawai to develop programs to teach workers metalcraft such as how to forge a crankshaft from scratch, and 100 workstations that formerly housed machines have been set aside for human training.
The idea is that when employees personally understand the fabrication of components, they will understand how to make better machines. Said Kawai, "To be the master of the machine, you have to have the knowledge and the skills to teach the machine." Lessons learned by the newly skilled workers have led to shorter production lines - in one case, 96percent shorter - improved parts production and less scrap.
Taking time to give workers the knowledge to solve problems instead of merely having them "feed parts into a machine and call somebody for help when it breaks down," Kawai's initiative is akin to that of Toyota's Operations Management Consulting Division, where new managers are given a length of time to finish a project but not given any help - they have to learn on their own. It's not a step back from Toyota's quest to build more than ten million cars a year; it's an effort to make sure that this time they don't sacrifice quality while making the effort. Said Kawai, "We need to become more solid and get back to basics."

Camatte concept puts the Toy back in Toyota [w/videos]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

It's been two years since Toyota first revealed its Camatte show car at the Tokyo Toy Show. Though sadly never destined for production, Toyota brought the concept back the following year as the Camatte 57s roadster, and is now returning to the same show with yet another take on the kid-friendly, configurable 1+2 with interchangeable body panels - this time with a slew of features that are fresh not only to the concept itself, but to the industry altogether.
This year the Camatte is being showcased in two forms: a bare chassis in the Tech Lab that lets kids see the inner workings of a modern automobile, and another in the Design Lab that lets kids draw their own motif for the concept that is then displayed on an LED hood.
The overall approach reminds us of the way Toyota's budget brand Daihatsu unveiled the Kopen roadster concept at the Tokyo Motor Show late last year, only even more kid-focused and decidedly more light-hearted than you might otherwise expect from one of the largest industrial giants in the world, and could only have been made for a toy exposition. In Japan. Which would explain the ridiculously upbeat videos below, where you'll also find the brief press release.

Hyundai Prius-fighting hybrid spied wearing new camo

Wed, Jul 22 2015

Hyundai's engineers certainly don't want the public to see its upcoming dedicated hybrid model in several of these new spy shots, but the company can't deny that the machine is on the way. These test cars were first spotted last summer as Prius-like five-door hatchbacks. However in these photos and the second set, it would seem that the model has morphed into a more sedan-like shape similar to the Chevy Volt. Unlike the last time we saw this car during arctic testing, the vehicle no longer is covered in plastic concealment. That obfuscation has been replaced with a very effective camo pattern on everything but the roof, and in several photos, workers are actively standing in the way of the spy shooters' lenses. Beyond the whole model's general shape, there are a few details to pick out, though. You can easily spot the outline of the brand's hexagonal grille up front. There appears to be a rather complicated air dam design there, too. In profile, the shape of the rear hatch creates an integrated spoiler at the back. While the camouflage makes it very hard to tell, we don't see a plug-in port on this example. According to our spies, this test car was being driven with a slew of other electrified models, including a BMW i3, Nissan Leaf, Volkswagen e-Golf, and Kia Soul EV. Given that group, perhaps the engineers were specifically benchmarking the electric performance for this outing. Earlier reports suggest that Hyundai's latest hybrid could debut in the second half of 2016. Power reportedly comes from a 1.6-liter four-cylinder with hybrid assistance and a lithium-ion battery. Plug-in and five-door hatchback versions are also rumored.
