My 1994 FZJ80 is for sale. 160k miles. I'm the third owner. It has always been in Arizona and lightly used on dirt roads to facilitate my mountain biking hobby. I've had it for the past 10 years and have the service records back to when it was practically new. Also have the orginial window sticker. Paint has a few scratches and there is a dent from a tree stump I found in a campground on the PS lower door. The cloth interior is excellent condition. Has 3m window tinting, some corners of which are starting to peel up but easly to redo when ready.Third row seating. No stains rips or tears on any of the fabric/headliner. Always garaged, never smoked in. Zero rust. Mechanically all good, actually close to perfect. Lots of preventative maintenance done always with OEM Toyota parts. Everything works properly. Work done either by dealer or Toyota certified mechanic. Oil changed every 3k. Every hose, belt, and all fluids have been recently (about 10k miles ago) replaced OEM. Has electric Blue Sea sub panel to power extra cig outlets (cargo area to power my ARB refrigerator). All is pretty much stock. OME shocks but stock springs. Tires have sufficient tred but they are 7 years old and show signs of checkering on sidewalls. Common minor issues with these model of Landcruisers are all taken care of: Mirrors don't wabble, moon roof doesn't leak, PHH has been changed, Oil pan gaskets replaced. Front axles done at 85k. Antenna goes up and down. Has tow package. Does not have factory lockers. Has CDL switch installed and OEM fog light switch installed on dash and powered set up for future auxilary driving lights. Also has Slee wiring harness upgrade. Selling because I now use my Tacoma most of the time to haul my bike and the cruizer sits in the garage. This is a good one. Offered for sale locally so reserve the right to remove from listing if sold.Contact me for more details. If you don't have a good ebay rating I will reject your bid. Will work to facilitate shipping/delivery.

To answer a couple of questions that have been asked: There are no leaks. There are no mechanical problems whatsoever. Factory tool kit, jack and full size spare tire is included. It is wired for a 7-way trailer plug. The stereo was upgraded by the previous owner to a Sony deck with CD and the speakers were upgraded as well. I have the orginial radio if you want it. Email me if you want more pictures.

For the Buy It Now price I will include a pair of Slee Slidersteps.  These are good to protect the rocker panel area and double as a convenient step to get in and out and to access the roof rack.  To check them out go to: Sleeoffroad.com. (Slider for 93-94 Land Cruiser part number- SOF 1053, $915.00) I had these mounted but took them off with the intention of selling them seperately. I will include them if  the truck sells for the Buy it Now price.

Toyota finds 10% MPG improvement in hybrid PCU

Wed, May 21 2014

Keeping up its from-all-angles approach to efficiency, Toyota has found yet another way to eke out up to ten percent more precious MPGs in its hybrid vehicles, this time electronically. The automaker has announced the development of new silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductors for use in power control units, which it will begin testing on Japanese roads within the next year. The PCU using the silicon carbide compound offers less electrical resistance, which improves efficiency when passing current between the battery and electric motor. It also loses less power after shutting off, and can operate at a higher frequency. The net power loss of the new PCU is just one-tenth of the current silicone-only version (the latter accounting for 20 percent of total electrical power loss in today's hybrids). The result, so far, is a claimed five-percent improvement in fuel economy in test vehicles, with the potential of ten percent by the time the new SiC power semiconductor comes to market. Additionally, the carbide wafers allow for smaller a power module, coil and capacitor, thus allowing the entire PCU to be 80 percent smaller (see the side-by-side comparison in the accompanying photo, which you can click to enlarge). We've got a while to wait before we start to see the carbide technology to start making a real-world impact. Toyota aims to begin using the SiC units in 2020. By then, with improvements in the company's other key efficiency factors - engine technology and aerodynamics - cars like the Prius will likely see significant gains in fuel economy. Read more in the press release below. Toyota Develops 'Diamond-like' Computer Chips to Boost Hybrid Mileage May 20, 2014 Toyota City, Japan – Toyota is using one of the hardest materials in nature after diamonds to develop a semiconductor chip it hopes will improve the fuel efficiency of its hybrids, such as the Prius, by as much at 10 percent. The company and its partners announced today that they have developed a silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductor for use in automotive power control units. Toyota plans to begin test-driving vehicles with the technology on public roads in Japan within a year. The chips, made from carbide - one of the hardest materials in nature, theoretically have superior characteristics such as one-tenth the electrical power loss and 10 times the drive frequency. Toyota said the chips would also allow it to reduce the size of current automotive power control units by 80 percent.

Toyota NA CEO says his excitement for hydrogen sedan is rising

Fri, Apr 4 2014

Toyota has an undeniable vested interest in seeing its hydrogen sedan succeed when it goes on sale in the US next year, so it's no surprise that the company's North American CEO, Jim Lentz, says that he's got more hope for the car now than ever before. And if we remember ways that others in the company, like Bob Carter, have loudly sung hydrogen's praises, we have to assume that positivity is running awful high in Torrance. In fact, Lentz said that the US side of the company is far more excited by the H2 car than colleagues in Japan. Speaking at The Wall Street Journal's ECO:nomics conference in Santa Barbara, CA this week, Lentz said: After we've seen the product, understand its range, its driving dynamics, its refueling, we're a lot more bullish than Japan - probably about fivefold more bullish. It's just a question of how many can be produced now. Well, we've driven this car, and we still feel that Toyota is placing a big bet on the technology. One important issue is cost, but Lentz would not say exactly how much the car costs to make or what it will be priced at. He did say, though, that the production cost has dropped by 95 percent from the $1 million price tag the car wore ten years ago. That hints at a production cost of around $50,000. Lentz also said he thinks it will take at least a decade for hydrogen vehicles to hit sales of 500,000 per year in the US. Speaking to Bloomberg, he said: Their acceptance could get off to a quicker start than the hybrids did. I think you're going to see a lot more marketing of the concept of fuel cell much sooner than you did for hybrids, because basically the whole industry is behind it.

Major automakers urge Trump not to freeze fuel economy targets

Mon, May 7 2018

WASHINGTON — Major automakers are telling the Trump administration they want to reach an agreement with California to avoid a legal battle over fuel efficiency standards, and they support continued increases in mileage standards through 2025. "We support standards that increase year over year that also are consistent with marketplace realities," Mitch Bainwol, chief executive of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, a trade group representing major automakers, will tell a U.S. House of Representatives panel on Tuesday, according to written testimony released on Monday. The Trump administration is weighing how to revise fuel economy standards through at least the 2025 model year, and one option is to propose freezing the standards through 2026, effectively allowing automakers to delay investments in technology to cut greenhouse gas emissions from burning petroleum. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not formally submitted its joint proposal with the Environmental Protection Agency to the White House Office of Management and Budget for review. Even so, last week, California and 16 other states sued to challenge the Trump administration's decision to revise U.S. vehicle rules. Auto industry executives have held meetings with the Trump administration for months and have urged the administration to try to reach a deal with California even as they support slowing the pace of reduction in carbon dioxide emissions that the Obama administration rules outlined. One automaker official said part of the message to President Donald Trump at a meeting on Friday will be to consider California like a foreign trade deal that needs to be renegotiated. Automakers want to urge him to get automakers a "better deal" — as opposed to potentially years of litigation between major states and federal regulators. On Friday, Trump is set to meet with the chief executives of General Motors, Ford, Fiat Chrysler and the top U.S. executives of at least five other major automakers, including Toyota, Volkswagen AG and Daimler AG, to talk about revisions to the vehicle rules. Senior EPA and Transportation Department officials will also attend. Environmental groups are eager to keep the rules in place, saying they will save consumers billions in fuel costs. A coalition of groups plans to stage a protest outside Ford's headquarters in Michigan.
