Phoenix, Arizona, United States

I am selling my 1990 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62 for no reserve here on eBay.

This is a really nice 2 owner Land Cruiser that started life in California and then lived here in Arizona.  It is rust free and 100% original and has a clean CarFax attached after the photos.

I am fairly new to the Land Cruiser community and I also have a 1995 FZJ80 with 189,000 miles than is my daily driver.  I found this awesome FJ62 in Prescott and had to have it.  I love it but I only have room for one
Cruiser in my life so I am offering my 62 here as I like my 80 series a bit better.

This FJ62 might have the cleanest and most original interior you've seen in a long time.  The back seat and cargo area were rarely used.  There is only one small blemish to the drivers side seat bolster.  Other than that the interior is nearly perfect and nothing else
to mention.  No funny smells either, smells like a Land Cruiser.  Everything works from the power accessories (even the antenna) to the A/C, lights, etc.  If something went wrong it was addressed.

The exterior is 100% original and wears the original paint as far as I can tell with some fading on the roof and a few blemishes here and there, but much better than average for a 24 year old vehicle.  The front bumper has a small dent and is missing the right side end cap.  It's been well cared for with a lot service records to show its care.  It's runs, drives, shifts and brakes like a proper FJ62 with no issues.  Shifts into both 4wd high and low very smoothly.
Original chrome wheels in great shape with 31x10.50 BFG All Terrains with over 50% life left.

I have added many photos but if you have any questions please message me or feel free to give me a call.  Jay at 480-44zero-0213 to talk about the cruiser.

This is a NO RESERVE auction and it will sell to the highest bidder.
Please take seriously and be prepared to pay a $500.00 deposit via PayPal immediately when the auction ends.  Balance to be paid via cash, wire transfer or bank transfer within 5 days of auction end.

No warranty express, written or implied as this is an as it where is sale.  I have the clear title in hand.  The cruiser is sitting in my garage in Phoenix, AZ and will will not be driven until new owner picks it up.  I can pick you up at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport or assist with your transport.

Good Luck!
Jay

MotorWeek proves '90s were awesome with Supra, Stealth, RX-7, Corvette, 968, 300ZX comparo

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

Oh, the heady days of 1993, back when the Clinton Presidency was just getting underway, and it seemed like every hot new rock band was coming out of Seattle. Sports cars in the US had finally shaken off the shackles that slowed them during the '70s and '80s, and you could buy any number of legitimately quick vehicles again. MotorWeek recently went digging into its archives to find this six-model test from 1993 showing off some of the best semi-affordable performance coupes that money could buy at the time, and it's priceless.
Featuring the 1994 model year Toyota Supra in twin-turbo guise and MY 1993 versions of the Porsche 968, Nissan 300ZX TT, Mazda RX-7, Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo and Chevrolet Corvette LT-1, MotorWeek definitely covered all of the bases. One thing that might surprise younger readers is these cars' performance. The video only provides 0-60 acceleration times, but several of these vehicles would still be considered pretty potent today - over 20 years since going on sale. The Supra is especially impressive, hitting 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds. Even today, that's nothing to sneeze at.
Given their performance potential and still-attractive looks, it's amazing that some of these coupes are old enough to drink now. The progress of interior design and safety equipment in the intervening years is pretty shocking, though. In most of these models, having two airbags is touted as a big deal. Scroll down to watch a Throwback Thursday blast from the past about some of the '90s best sports cars.

Ford Fiesta ST in startling track battle against Toyota GT86

Wed, 26 Jun 2013

On the surface, there's very little that the Ford Fiesta ST and Toyota GT86 (or the Scion FR-S that is sold in the US, or the largely similar Subaru BRZ) share in common. One is a hatchback with power coming from a turbocharged engine routed to the front wheels. The other is a coupe with power coming from a naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine routed to the rear wheels.
Thing is, both of them are reasonably priced performance cars aimed at a similar segment of the automotive marketplace, so a comparison isn't out of the question. It is with all of this in mind that we direct you to the video below, in which the blokes from Evo pit the two manic little machines against one another on a race track. The result? Well, it can be summed up this way: Fast versus fun.
See how the track battle goes down in the video below.

Toyota turning landfill gas into hybrid vehicles, indirectly

Fri, Mar 28 2014

Chamillionaire certainly wasn't referring to the Toyota Avalon or Camry when he rapped about "ridin' dirty" but maybe he'll change his tune soon. That's because some of the future energy sources for the Kentucky factory that makes those two models will come from gas created from the breakdown of solid waste. So the power behind some of the production at Toyota's largest North American factory will indeed be funky. Toyota is working with Waste Services of the Bluegrass to build a network of wells at a nearby landfill in order to collect the gases. Construction of the system starts next month and will be finished by early next year. The upshot is that the system will produce one megawatt of electricity per hour, which is the equivalent to the power used by 800 houses. Last spring, Toyota said it would start producing the Lexus ES at the Kentucky plant after getting almost a $150 million offer from the state. That's because that model is expected to add 50,000 vehicles to the existing production numbers at the plant. And those production numbers are already large, as Toyota makes both the standard and hybrid versions of both the Camry and Avalon there. Mind you, Toyota's not the first to go this route for factory-energy production. In 2011, General Motors' Orion Assembly Plant started getting about 40 percent of its energy for production of models such as the Chevy Sonic and Buick Verano from methane captured from a landfill nearby. The General estimated at the time that the process would cut the company's energy costs by about $1.1 million a year. Check out Toyota's press release about the Kentucky plant and its future landfill gas below. Landfill Gas to Build Cars and a Greener Community Partnership between Toyota and local landfill turns garbage into good March 24, 2014 GEORGETOWN, Ky. (MARCH, 24 2014) – Can a car company be a vehicle for change? Toyota thinks so. The Kentucky plant that manufactures some of the greenest cars on the road, including two hybrid models, will soon be powered in part by green electricity. Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. has teamed up with Waste Services of the Bluegrass to generate power from local landfill waste, marking the region's first business to business landfill gas to energy initiative. Toyota estimates the locally-generated landfill gas will supply enough power each year for the production of 10,000 vehicles. How it Works As solid waste naturally breaks down in a landfill, it creates gas.
