1988 Toyota Land Cruiser Base Sport Utility 4-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Pueblo, Colorado, United States
Rust repair is completed on the passenger rear quarter panel but has yet to be painted, rust repair was done professionally and the local LAND CRUISER forum will vouch for my quality of work, it has 204000 miles on it and runs very good. Man-a-fre exhaust with catalytic converter is installed and functioning. I imagine it will meet emissions just fine since everything is intact and working but I have no emissions testing where I live so I cannot garuntee it will pass your local emissions. Edit: just looked up records on carfax and it passed emissions in Denver, Co just over a year ago so Its safe to say its emission ready. Oil leaks are typical of this age, nothing excessive but dont expect a new car when you come look at it since its 25 years old. 4wd works fine although since I put it into 4wd to check the light on the dash has yet to go off. 4wd did disengage though so Im sure its just a switch that stuck. It has been well taken care of as far as I can tell. It does have rust on the passenger front fender and rear tailgate, but I have all the needed replacement pieces that are bolt on to make this thing a rust free perfect project. Book value according to NADA is around $9000 after you swap the 2 bolt on pieces and paint it so with a reserve less than half that this is a heck of a deal.
I have no intention of misleading anyone so if you have any questions please ask and I will be as honest and upfront as possible. I will also offer a sale garuntee that will allow you to come look at it and if anything I described doesnt add up I will give back your deposit minus whatever listing fee I have from ebay. |

Toyota to ramp up Tacoma production in Mexico by 41%
Sun, 21 Sep 2014The Toyota Tacoma may be getting on in age, but that isn't stopping the Japanese manufacturer from ramping up production at the pickup's Baja California factory. The Mexican plant will soon be home to another 300 jobs as it increases total capacity by 41 percent. The increase is slated for April 2015.
The move is a curious one, considering the Tacoma's age and the fact that General Motors is preparing what, on the surface, appear to be two very competent challengers. The factory increase could be in preparation for the 2016 Taco (spy photos shown above), which is expected to represent a significant overhaul of the long-serving truck.
Toyota's decision to increase capacity could also be due to the factory building freeze implemented by President Akio Toyoda, according to Automotive News. Toyoda put a hold on new factories until 2016, asking executives to squeeze as much production as possible out of remaining factories before bringing any additional facilities online.
2015 Toyota Camry ushers in 'sweeping redesign' [w/poll]
Wed, 16 Apr 2014With a dozen years atop the nation's best-selling car charts, you might think that there wouldn't be a lot of incentive for Toyota to rework its Camry, particularly so early in the life of the current model. But despite its unassailable sales totals, the midsize sedan has come in for substantial criticism for its milquetoast dynamics, piecemeal interiors and bland design.
As part of CEO Akio Toyoda's mantra to build more exciting cars, the 2015 Camry has arrived with a fresh new look and content that goes far beyond the Japanese automaker's typically slight mid-cycle redesigns. Featuring some 2,000 new parts, the 2015 Camry casts a 1.8-inch longer shadow and stretches across a widened track (0.4 inches). And it won't be just the widened track that should help deliver a more dynamic performance - Toyota is citing a stiffer chassis thanks to additional spot welds along with a rejiggered suspension, retuned electric power steering and a new two-stage brake booster for improved braking feel.
A new XSE trim promises the sportiest performance yet, including model-specific shock absorbers and springs, stiffer bushings, unique stability control programming and 18-inch wheels to go along with a unique front end treatment featuring mesh grille inserts and a revised fascia.
Toyota working on cars that hover above the roadway
Wed, 11 Jun 2014Toyota is one of the largest automakers in the world, but it's not content simply building and selling conventional cars - it's been at the forefront of numerous advancements in ground transportation. It is widely credited with advancing the cause of hybrid propulsion, and alongside Audi and Google, is among the first automakers seriously testing self-driving cars. We could go on, but the news here is that Toyota is reportedly developing vehicles that hover above the road surface instead of rolling along it.
The news comes from Hiroyoshi Yoshiki, one of Toyota's tech gurus, who revealed at Bloomberg's Next Big Thing summer in San Francisco that the company is working on hovering cars - ones that travel just above the road surface, but don't actually fly in three-dimension space.
According to The Verge, a spin-off of our own sister-site Engadget, Yoshiki refused to elaborate on what the project entails and how far along it is. He was speaking along acting NHTSA chief David Friedman, who lauded such advancements as a "great taste of innovations to come," but stressed the significance of more concrete improvements to conventional automobiles - like inter-car communications to keep vehicles from colliding on the highway - as more relevant to today's industry.
