1987 Toyota Land Cruiser Fj60 on 2040-cars
Creswell, Oregon, United States
This is not your standard 1987 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60. -The original suspension has been replaced with 3/4 ton Chevrolet suspension, with new shocks, lifting the body 26'' off the ground. 33' tires. -To compliment the new suspension the stock inline 6 cylinder has been replaced with a 1985 Chevrolet 6.2L diesel. The new power plant gives the Land Cruiser a lot more power and better fuel economy than the original engine. This Land Cruiser gets 20-25 mpg, and is a blast to drive. The engine recently has been through and tuned by the local diesel expert shop, 'Oregon Fuel Injection' (700$ service). -The roof rack was custom built for the vehicle. -The sound system consists of a Sony CD player, 6x9 speakers and two Pyle 10'' sub woofers. Lanzar 2000 watt amp. -The original jack and tool kit are still in the vehicle. -The trunk area has been bed lined and has additional tie downs added to the floor. -Super straight body, only two tiny dents on passenger fender. Body is rust and cancer free. This is a southern California car, only spent last 4 years in Oregon. The original manual and a 6.2l manual are included, along with a stack of receipts.
The bad: - The clear coat is wearing thin, could use new paint job. (we are a custom shop, and if a new paint job is desired, we can negotiate a price to have the cruiser painted before pick up) -The drivers seat fabric is torn, both front seats currently have seat covers to help protect them. -Carpet is old and a little worn. -Tinting on the windows is scratched in some areas This is a super sexy rig, that is practical and fun to drive. It is one of a kind and will turn heads wherever you go. Don't miss out on this rare find. Here is a video so you can hear it run and watch it drive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pojmJbEvU3I&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Toyota to ramp up Tacoma production in Mexico by 41%
Sun, 21 Sep 2014The Toyota Tacoma may be getting on in age, but that isn't stopping the Japanese manufacturer from ramping up production at the pickup's Baja California factory. The Mexican plant will soon be home to another 300 jobs as it increases total capacity by 41 percent. The increase is slated for April 2015.
The move is a curious one, considering the Tacoma's age and the fact that General Motors is preparing what, on the surface, appear to be two very competent challengers. The factory increase could be in preparation for the 2016 Taco (spy photos shown above), which is expected to represent a significant overhaul of the long-serving truck.
Toyota's decision to increase capacity could also be due to the factory building freeze implemented by President Akio Toyoda, according to Automotive News. Toyoda put a hold on new factories until 2016, asking executives to squeeze as much production as possible out of remaining factories before bringing any additional facilities online.

Eiji Toyoda dead at 100
Tue, 17 Sep 2013Toyota has had number of chiefs over its 76-year history, but none ever served as long as Eiji Toyoda. The younger cousin of the company's founder served as president of the automaker from 1967 to 1982 and as chairman of the Toyota Motor Corporation for another ten years following the unification of the manufacturing and sales divisions.
During his 25 years at the helm, Eiji Toyoda (pictured above in 1967) was credited with establishing the company's headquarters in Toyota City, spearheading the development of the Prius, expanding production overseas for the first time, launching the Lexus brand and turning Toyota from a minor player into one of the largest automakers in the world.
Even after his retirement in 1992, he remained an honorary chairman and close advisor to his successors, and chaired the company's museum. He died of heart failure, ending a 100-year life that started on September 12, 1913, before the company that bore his family's name (albeit slightly modified) had even started building automatic looms, let alone automobiles. We extend our condolences to the Toyoda family and our congratulations on an accomplished life.
