Gorgeous 1986 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60! This vehicle was restored 4 years ago with the intent to keep it for life! This Land Cruiser has amazing silver metallic paint that turns heads everywhere I go, tinted windows, genuine leather upgrade on all seats, two layers of Dynomat Sound Deadener, reupholstered roof and doors. It comes with an Old Man Emu lift, 36" Toyo M/T tires 40% tread left, premium wheels with matching 5th rim. It also has a custom front and rear bumper, along with a custom tow hitch. There is a Panasonic CD player installed 3 years ago as well.

Toyota Land Cruisers have legendary reliability. It has the original super-reliable, Toyota 2F I6 engine, with 214k miles on it.  A Weber two-barrel carburetor and cold-air intake give it added power.   Windshield, battery, ignition coil, and distributor were recently replaced. A/C and heat both work amazing. This truck is being used as a daily driver with no issues. The rig comes free of rust out of Texas and Arizona.  Currently the only issue is the rear hatch lift supports are having trouble keeping the back up, they will need to be replaced soon (est. $30 at AutoZone), some TLC, and a small paint blemish near the fuel filler cap.

Located in Washington state with a clear title. Sold "as is" with no expressed or implied warranties. Zero feedback bidders MUST contact me prior to bidding. Payment via certified check only drawn on a major bank, cashier's check/money order, or cash on pickup, no PayPal or personal checks, sorry!  I am happy to drop the Land Cruiser off at a depot in the Tacoma/Auburn area, or meet a transport truck. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions. I hate to see it go, I do not want to have it sitting during an upcoming deployment.

Toyota Auris gets new Touring Sports variant

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

Toyota showed off the Touring Sports version of the Auris next to the newly introduced Auris Hybrid at last year's Paris Motor Show, but didn't say much about it. Six months later, just ahead of the Geneva Motor Show, the company is crowing about that wagon going on sale with the Hybrid Synergy Drive, creating the Auris Touring Sports Hybrid.
The hauling version of the exceptionally popular Auris hatchback doesn't just add a hybrid wagon to the compact segment, Toyota says it offers class-leading load capacity of 1,658 liters with the Easy-Flat one-touch rear seats down. With the rear seats up, it offers 530 liters. The little big gulp is possible because the hybrid batteries have been placed under the rear seats instead of being in the luggage area.
It looks the same as the hatchback save for the fact that it's 285 millimeters (11.2 inches) longer behind the C pillar, has a redesigned tailgate and a lower load floor. Engines beyond the hybrid will match the rest of the lineup: 1.3-liter and 1.6-liter gasoline engines and a 1.4-liter D-4D diesel. There's a chance we'll see it in Geneva, if we don't there's a press release below to tell you all about it.

Recharge Wrap-up: Q50 Hybrid video, Iran's biodiesel weed

Mon, Aug 10 2015

A new video from Infiniti showcases the Q50 Hybrid's kinetic energy recovery technology, borrowed from Formula One. The video details what is going on inside both the Q50 Hybrid and the racecar when it gathers energy to store for later use, offering better performance than an internal combustion engine alone. In the Q50 Hybrid, that electric energy helps the car accelerate from 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. The video also serves to highlight the relationship between racing innovation and performance and efficiency improvements in production vehicles. See the video above. The 2015 Toyota Prius C has been named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The compact hybrid, updated for the 2015 model year, has been upgraded from a "poor" to "acceptable" rating in the small overlap crash test, placing it on the Top Safety Pick list. Beginning in the 2016 model year, cars will have to score a "good" rating on the test to make the list, which means further improvements will be necessary if Toyota wants the Prius C to maintain its safety status with the IIHS. John and Lisa Brichetto's Northington Energy LLC received a state loan to produce biodiesel in 2011, but the facility never started production and was later foreclosed upon. In addition to the $142,215 the Brichettos defrauded from Tennessee, the state also invested in utilities and roads, while the US Department of Agriculture also paid for site improvements. Read more from the Times Free Press. Researchers in Iran have developed a way to make biodiesel from a weed. Scientists at the Islamic Azad University have created two liters of biomass for biofuel from flixweed. Flixweed, also called herb-Sophia and tansy mustard, is a non-edible weed that grows in various climates with little to no effort. It was found to contain 22 percent oil and fatty acids, and the biomass contains oxygenated chemical components. "This issue is important because the atomic oxygen in the fuel of a car directly cuts exhaust and the dangerous carbon monoxide and cancerous particles suspended in air," says Mehdi Alami, a chemistry graduate working on the project. 2014 Toyota 4Runner Limited

Thu, 08 May 2014

What would you say if we told you that outside of Jeep and Land Rover, the best brand for those who want to go off road is Toyota? Sounds remarkable, eh? But the truth is, Toyota's history of providing vehicles for the rougher bits of our blue marble dates back to 1950, barely a decade after Willys built the first Jeeps and only a few years after Land Rover made its big debut with the iconic Series I.
In fact, Toyota's start in off-roaders was with a small contract for providing the US Army with vehicles, during the Korean War. From that, the BJ was spawned. This Jeep-like vehicle evolved into the 20 Series and then into the iconic 40 Series Land Cruiser in the 1960s.
So yes, Toyota knows its way around the trails. While the Land Cruiser, deservedly, gets all the attention thanks to its impressive longevity, we're partial to the 4Runner, which is a far more affordable entry that serves as Toyota's challenger to the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
