Up for grabs is this 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 in very clean and very good driving condition.  As you can see, the tan paint is fresh and done very well, this is the correct color for this year, exterior has been completely repainted.  Mechanically, this Land Cruiser just received a full tune-up, oil change and brake inspection and new fuel filter.  The AC compressor was replaced and the system converted and charged, it now blows ice cold.  The tires are BRAND NEW (less than 200 miles) and are four matching BF Goodrich Rugged Terrains.  The exterior of the vehicle also sports a new grille, new headlight doors, and bumper end caps at all four corners.

The Land Cruiser comes with a functioning Sony aftermarket CD player, and all gauges, lights, and wipers are fully functioning.  This Land Cruiser also comes with a perfect CarFax, and has never been wrecked.  It is from California and has very little rust.  It is very easy to start, and I have had zero problems with the four speed manual transmission.  The interior is not perfect, the driver's seat has the typical tear (I can provide a photo or two of this), and the carpet has some discoloration.

I am a dealer in Nashville, TN, and my main focus is buying and restoring Land Cruisers, specifically FJ60's and FJ62's, please feel free to contact me at any time if you have ANY questions regarding this vehicle.  I will collect sales tax for Tennessee residents ONLY, and this vehicle will come with a clean and clear California title.  We do have a $199 doc fee on every transaction.  My cell phone is 615-300-6004 if you have any questions or concerns.

I can ship this vehicle easily, delivered to your door, and this can be done for a lot less than you may think (i.e. $700 to LA, $400 to Washington, DC, $600 to New York, etc).  I am happy to provide estimates-please provide your zip code.

I will try to accommodate any and all test drives, inspections, etc.  I will also provide the name and phone number of my mechanic (he did the tune-up and other work) to any SERIOUS buyer.

Payment is due within five (5) days of the end of the auction.  I will NOT release the vehicle or the title without all funds being collected first; title will be sent separately from the vehicle unless buyer pays with cash or cashier's check.  I accept cash, cashier's checks, personal checks, and all major credit cards and wire transfers (fee applies).  Please check with your spouse/partner/child/pet/whomever BEFORE bidding, I will fully prosecute all non-paying bidders.

This vehicle is being sold without reserve, but I do reserve the right to end the auction early.  I am open to offers, please contact me directly.

You can view 25+ more pictures of this FJ60 on rockstarmotorcars.com.  If you would like additional pictures, videos, or more information, please contact me directly.

I am open to trades, please contact me directly with what you have.

My cell phone number is 615-300-6004, please feel free to call or text with any and all questions.  Please do NOT ask about the gas mileage of a Land Cruiser-if this is a concern, get a Prius!

Toyota Recalling 1.67 Million Vehicles Worldwide

Wed, Oct 15 2014

UPDATE: Toyota is now announcing specifically which models are covered under its fuel pipe recall in the US. The company is repairing about 423,000 Lexus models that include the 2007-2010 LS, 2006-2011 GS, 2006-2011 IS, 2010 IS C and 2008-2010 IS-F. The automaker says that it isn't aware of any fires, crashes, injuries or fatalities caused by this problem. According to Toyota, the recall is because it's possible for the fuel delivery pipes and the fuel pressure sensor to form a bad seal with the gasket between them because of a protective coating protecting against corrosion on the pipes. It's possible for this to eventually cause a fuel leak, and obviously in a hot engine bay that's a potential fire risk. To fix the problem, dealers will replace the gasket and repair the gasket seating surface between the fuel delivery pipe and the fuel pressure sensor. The company will begin notifying owners soon. You can find the official press release, below. Toyota is issuing three separate recalls covering 1.67 million vehicles worldwide with most of those models in Japan. It looks like the campaigns' impact on the US may be smaller, though. According to Reuters, Toyota isn't aware of any accidents, injuries or fatalities affecting the models. Some yet-unnamed Lexus models might also be affected. The largest of the campaigns does not currently affect any US-market vehicles. About 802,000 units of the Toyota Crown Majesta, Crown, Noah and Voxy in Japan are being repaired to replace a seal that could leak in the brake master cylinder. Those already leaking get a new brake booster, as well, according to Reuters. The only recall currently believed to affect the US is due to a problem covering approximately 759,000 vehicles with 423,000 of them here. The repair is to fix a faulty fuel delivery pipe that could cause a fire if the fuel leaks out. Unfortunately, we don't know which models it covers. Autoblog spoke to Toyota spokesperson Mona Richard and was told the information was still "under embargo." When exactly that embargo will lift isn't yet known, but we're on the case. Finally, Toyota is recalling 190,000 Corolla Rumion and Auris models in Japan for a faulty evaporative emission control unit. Autoblog is in contact with Toyota, and we'll update this story as soon as we know more about its affect on the US market.

Toyota to kill Scion brand [w/video]

Wed, Feb 3 2016

Toyota Motor Co. said Wednesday it will kill its youth-oriented Scion brand, ending a 13-year experiment that attracted new customers but ultimately drained resources from the parent company. The FR-S sports car, iA sedan, and iM five-door hatchback will be re-badged as Toyotas starting in August for the 2017 model year, and the tC coupe will end production then. The C-HR displayed at the Los Angeles Auto Show will become a Toyota vehicle when it launches. Scion's 22 dedicated team members will be given opportunities to join Toyota. Toyota says it made the decision in response to customers' needs, noting it finds younger buyers want practicality in addition to the individualistic styling and features that Scion offered. Meanwhile, Toyota's own vehicles have gotten sportier, which the company says appeals to younger buyers. Scion claimed some successes, pointing to its average customer age of 36 years old, with 70 percent of its buyers new to Toyota. Scion sold more than a million vehicles since it launched. Its best year was 2006, when it sold 173,034 vehicles. Sales declined steadily in 2007-08 and then crashed in 2009 during the recession to 57,961 units, before bottoming out in 2010 with only 45,678 sales. "This isn't a step backward for Scion; it's a leap forward for Toyota. Scion has allowed us to fast track ideas that would have been challenging to test through the Toyota network," said Jim Lentz, founding vice president of Scion and now CEO, Toyota Motor North America. "I was there when we established Scion and our goal was to make Toyota and our dealers stronger by learning how to better attract and engage young customers. I'm very proud because that's exactly what we have accomplished." While Scion never recovered from its drastic sales decline, it served as a test bed for marketing and dealer tactics that helped its parent company. Scion tried out no-haggle pricing, a streamlined option plan (some cars had only two choices: color and transmission) and a pre-paid maintenance plan. "We appreciate our 1,004 Scion dealers and the support they've given the brand," said Bob Carter, Toyota senior vice president of automotive operations. "We believe our dealers have gained valuable insights and have received a strong return on their investment.

Toyota, Ford and Honda again top Consumer Reports Car-Brand Perception Survey

Fri, 01 Feb 2013

Consumer Reports has released its annual Car-Brand Perception Survey, and the list looks awfully familiar. The top six brands are identical to last year's results, with Toyota, Ford and Honda continuing to occupy the podium. All told, Toyota walked away with 133 points, putting it 15 ahead of second-place Ford. Honda jumped 26 points this year, narrowing Ford's lead to just four points in total.
Consumer Reports polls buyers from across the country on how they see multiple brands in seven categories, including quality, safety, value, performance, design/style, technology/innovation and environmentally friendly/green. Researchers then combine the findings to come up with the total brand score.
While value and performance remain important to buyers, CR found quality and safety are still on top when it comes to significance. Scion and Mitsubishi found themselves at the bottom of the pack with the worst score of all, tied at just six points. Ram, Fiat and Mini filled out the lowest five with scores of seven, eight and 10 points, respectively. You can read the full press release below for more information, or head over to the Consumer Reports site.
