1984 Landcruiser Fj60. 350 V8 4 Speed, Tbi/fi, Ca Smog Legal on 2040-cars
Auburn, California, United States
1984 FJ60 in very good condition for it's age. I've owned it for 15 years now and the previous owner for 5. Neither of us are/were smokers. The mileage is 286,000 approx, and is likely the true number. After the original 6 cylinder gave up the ghost I did the 350 5.7 GMC conversion. That was around 193,000 miles.
The motor and ECU are out of an '87 GMC Suburban and it runs fine. It has worn down a bit but is still a fine runner. The valve guides are wearing and now and then a puff of blue smoke out the back when 1st starting. But it does not burn or leak oil. It was a great conversion! The I-6 was great off-road but would not get out of it's own way trying to merge onto the freeway. The 350 took care of that. Later I installed a rebuilt 4 speed from Spector Off Road, with a compound low, 1st gear. Got my torque back. :)
The truck was off-roaded some but was never a boonie crasher, or abused. The suspension is stock, with the shocks recently replaced, Monroe. I replaced the carpets a few years ago with Specter's gray loop kit. In the cargo area just behind the bench seat is a 3" slit. I had all the seats re-covered about 18 months ago; custom sewn. As wonderful as Toyota's fabrics were there was no way to keep that driver side seat panel from wearing out. I didn't want to but I'd replaced the driver side once ($250). A second replacement was not an option. :) Now, as you can see, HD boat vinyl. Problem solved. There are a few nicks in the window tint.
The body is rust free and straight. There are 2 or 3 minor "beer can" dents that are very hard to see, being white.... The truck has been regularly serviced for the last 20 years at least. 6 months ago the left front axle seal gave out so I had both sides taken apart, inspected and re-sealed. No mo drips. 18 months ago I had the air conditioning totally replaced and it blows nice and cold. There went another $2k..... but living in the Sacramento Valley makes me wish I'da done it years before. The adaptor kit for the 350 is a Marks, out of Australia. Tow hitch welded to chassis. Wired for 7 pin round or 4 pin flat trailers. Prodigy brake control, and wired for charging circuit.
The truck has been in an accident but I couldn't tell you when or where. It happened before the PO sold it to me. It was hit on (ran into?) with the left front fender. Nothing apparent to me, and the frame is straight. The transfer case is fine, and the drive line in general.
If you have any questions please ask. MIKE On May-28-14 at 21:36:58 PDT, seller added the following information: A watcher asked a question earlier today about the motor swap, and I thank him. It is pertinent. The motor swap was not a shade tree conversion. It was done by a local Pro Shop. I purchased the needed parts and the shop did the installation. The V8 and ECU came from the same truck, and was wired into place using a Painless Universal wiring harness. The ECU is located next to the left foot, behind the kick plate, in front of the A pillar. The Check Engine light is located above the left knee of the driver as well as the BDO (?) test socket. The Calif BAR issued a new bar code sticker for approval. Thank you. |

Toyota TRD Pro lineup coming next week
Thu, 30 Jan 2014A mysterious Toyota commercial recently popped up on YouTube teasing a new TRD Pro lineup for the Tundra, Tacoma and 4Runner, and now we're getting our first official word straight from the automaker on the matter. Courtesy of its Facebook page, Toyota is promising that the TRD Pro models will be introduced on February 6th, ready to "conquer the great outdoors."
This date just so happens to mark the first day of the always-truck-friendly Chicago Auto Show, so while Toyota isn't saying as much, we're almost certain the trucks will show up next week in the Windy City. It's not clear what sort of upgrades TRD Pro brings, but it definitely includes black wheels and a tweaked front end featuring a thick, single-bar grille and bold lettering in place of the stylized Toyota logo (shown above on the Tundra).
Scroll down to see the video, and head over to Toyota's Facebook page to see a teaser image of the 4Runner TRD Pro.
New Forza 6 car pack will let you race the Pontiac Aztek
Fri, Jan 29 2016Just in time for this weekend's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, the new Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 on the Xbox One lets you slip into the driver's seat of last year's winner. If you want to take something much weirder for a spin, the collection also includes a 2005 Pontiac Aztek. The download is available now for $6.99. The Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona was in a four-car battle early in last year's race, but it eventually was victorious. Forza Motorsport 6 also challenges drivers who download the car to a new Rivals event around Daytona, and the fastest people could win Alpinestars prizes. If you're nostalgic for a classic Daytona racecar, this pack includes Mercury #15 Whistler Radar Cougar XR-7. The V8-powered beast won the IMSA GTO class in the 24-hour event in 1990. It should be fun around the game's longer road courses like Road Atlanta. This collection also has an eclectic mix of vehicles that aren't racecars. The controversial Aztek and the equally-controversial 1996 Subaru SVX take their places beside a lineup that offers drivers three eras of performance cars – a 1967 Sunbeam Tiger, 1974 Toyota Corolla SR5, and 1992 Alfa Romeo Milano Quadrifoglio Verde. The video below shows all of them in action. Race to the Finish Line with the Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 By Xbox Wire Staff posted on January 27, 2016 at 8:00 am With the racing season set to kick into full gear during this weekend's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona race, Forza fans now have a chance to get their own taste of endurance racing glory with the Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6, available on Thursday, Jan. 28. Leading off the pack of seven cars is last year's 24 Hours of Daytona winner, the 2015 Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona Prototype. The prototype will be fielded in this weekend's race, which begins at 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 30 and can be viewed live on Fox Sports 1 in the U.S. The Alpinestars Car Pack features six additional cars, each with a unique pedigree all its own. From the 1990 Mercury #15 Whistler Radar Cougar XR-7 – also a competitor in Daytona 24 Hour events of years past – to the inimitable 2005 Pontiac Aztek (famous more for its fictional owner than its performance), this pack has something for every kind of car fan. Forza Motorsport 6 is the only game where players can drive last year's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona winner on the recently remodeled Daytona International Speedway.
Consumer Reports no longer recommends Honda Civic
Mon, Oct 24 2016Consumer Reports annual Car Reliability Survey is out, and yes, there are some big surprises. First and foremost? The venerable publication no longer recommends the Honda Civic. In fact, aside from the walking-dead CR-Z and limited-release Clarity fuel-cell car, the Civic is the only Honda to miss out on CR's prestigious nod. At the opposite end there's a surprise as well – Toyota and Lexus remain the most reliable brands on the market, but Buick cracked the top three. That's up from seventh last year, and the first time for an American brand to stand on the Consumer Reports podium. Mazda's entire lineup earned Recommended checks as well. Consumer Reports dinged the Civic for its "infuriating" touch-screen radio, lack of driver lumbar adjustability, the limited selection of cars on dealer lots fitted with Honda's popular Sensing system, and the company's decision to offer LaneWatch instead of a full-tilt blind-spot monitoring system. Its score? A lowly 58. The Civic isn't the only surprise drop from CR's Recommended ranks. The Audi A3, Ford F-150, Subaru WRX/STI, and Volkswagen Jetta, GTI, and Passat all lost the Consumer Reports' checkmark. On the flipside, a number of popular vehicles graduated to the Recommended ranks, including the BMW X5, Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, and Cruze, Hyundai Santa Fe, Porsche Macan, and Tesla Model S. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the hilariously recall-prone Ford Escape getting a Recommended check – considering the popularity of Ford's small crossover, this is likely a coup for the brand, as it puts the Escape on a level playing field with the Recommended Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Nissan Rogue. While Ford is probably happy to see CR promote the Escape, the list wasn't as kind for every brand. For example, of the entire Fiat Chrysler Automobiles catalog, the ancient Chrysler 300 was the only car to score a check – there wasn't a single Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, or Ram on the list. That hurts. FCA isn't alone at the low end, either. GMC, Jaguar Land Rover, Mini, and Mitsubishi don't have a vehicle on CR's list between them, while brands like Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Nissan, Lincoln, Infiniti, and Cadillac only have a few models each. You can check out Consumer Reports entire reliability roundup, even without a subscription, here.
