This FJ40 has had a very thorough refurbishing starting by removing the tub for cleaning and painting frame, repairing tub and cleaning up the interior. I will try my best to describe the FJ as completely as possible and list those things that have been done.   Many original OEM parts were used as well as new Chevy and aftermarket parts.

I spent a lot of time making this vehicle a great driver.  I do not use the term "frame off restoration" because this was not a nut and bolt redo. However great effort was taken to insure it was well done for a mechanically sound vehicle.  I drive this vehicle during the summer and fall months.  I did not drive it in the winter.  This vehicle has been garage kept many of the years in its life. I will list what has been done to the vehicle.  If you have any questions, please ask.

The engine was replaced with a 355 Chevy Vortec Small block. It starts easily, runs smooth.  The Small Block offers great torque and horsepower for this ride.  It is a 10:1 compression motor that runs on 87 octane.  At the same time the transmission was replaced with a Chevy TH400.  It was completely rebuilt and a Trans Go shift kit was installed.  (new torque converter too)  The transfer case and both differentials were gone though and brought back to spec along with the axle seals and bearings.  The drive train was aligned and mounted with Advanced Adapters hardware and cross members.  Custom drive shafts were made at a local machine shop.  Hubs and transfer case operate easily and have been gone through as well.

 New:

Engine/Trans
Front bumper with Tow bar option
Brakes

Brake master cylinder
Shackle reversal for added stability and drivability

New Saginaw steering gear retrofit

Anti-Wrap / Traction Bar installed to protect pinion in High torque situations
Shocks
Rear axle bearings and seals
New dual Flowmaster 40 series Edlebrock 650cfm carb with electric choke

Fuel tank (poly) and sending unit
Fuel lines and pump
Aftermarket gauges were installed with new billet aluminum cluster. Didn't trust the old gauges for new engine. Original cluster will be included in the sale.
Air Horns Installed original Toyota horns are still available.
Speedometer and odometer work correctly with factory gauge cluster.  Currently use GPS and Tachometer for speed.
JVC CD player and aftermarket speakers. 10” powered subwoofer installed under driver seat.

New Cooper ST 33x12.5x15 tires (full size spare included)

*May have missed a thing or two but I think I covered the main ones.
Please don’t hesitate to ask questions.  I will respond within 24hours.

Additional info:

The original odometer shows 115384 miles but has been replaced with an aftermarket gauge cluster.    Many of the common FJ modifications have been done.  For example; the new SBC, 4 core radiator, automatic transmission, shackle reversal, and power steering, anti-wrap bar. This Landcruiser is a great comfortable driver. Since the modifications and the engine replacement the vehicle has been driven less than 4500 miles.  Many of the trips have been within Michigan on warm summer days.

*Pre purchase inspection and local pickup can be arranged. Buyer has full responsibility for setting up shipping and all expenses. Other arrangements can be discussed. $300 non-refundable deposit due via PayPal within 24 hrs after auction ends. Balance due within 7 days of auction ending. Vehicle will not be released until all funds have been deposited and cleared by my bank.  Clear and clean Michigan Title is available. Please ask any questions you may have before bidding. FJ is for sale locally as well. Thanks for looking.

Toyota begins shipping Le Yaris to America

Fri, 17 May 2013

Our tiniest Toyota (Scion iQ notwithstanding) is about to get a little French flair. The Japanese automaker announced Thursday that its Toyota Motor Manufacturing France facility would begin building Yaris models destined for North America - specifically, the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada. This will mark the first time in history that Toyota has exported vehicles to North America from Europe.
Initially, Toyota will export roughly 25,000 Yaris models to North American markets from France each year. In order to handle this additional production, Toyota Motor Manufacturing France has invested 10 million euro into its French facility.
Despite being somewhat of a snooze-fest (it's a car!), the Yaris carries on in North America with a 106-horsepower 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, with prices starting at $14,370 for the three-door and $15,395 for the five-door, not including $795 for destination.

Weekly Recap: Racing legend Jim Hall explains Chevy's futuristic Chaparral concept

Sat, Nov 22 2014

"I said our cars are built to be winners." – Jim Hall Racing legend Jim Hall never thought he'd be a video game consultant, but when Chevrolet asked for his advice to create a futuristic Chaparral for the Vision Gran Turismo series, he was eager to help. He reviewed early sketches and suggested some changes that made it onto the concept, including the addition of a camera that's mounted onto a mast over the cabin to aid the driver. The Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept was revealed this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show and will be part of a downloadable update for PlayStation 3's Gran Turismo 6 in December. Theoretically, at least, it uses a laser-beam propulsion system and an air-powered generator to produce 900 horsepower in the video game. It's capable of sprinting to 60 miles per hour in 1.5 seconds en route to a top speed of 240 mph. Those gaudy performance specs – even in the virtual world – came at Hall's urging. "I said our cars are built to be winners," Hall told Autoblog on the floor of the Los Angeles show. The 79-year-old drove Lotus racecars in Formula One before launching the successful Chaparral Cars in the 1960s. Like his innovative Can-Am racers, the Vision Gran Turismo project has an eye toward the future. It also introduces the iconic Chaparral name to a new generation of fans, and hopefully, Hall says, gets them excited about engineering and design. "It emulates what we did in the '60s," he said. And what they did back then still resonates. Chaparral Racing and Chevy partnered more than 45 years ago for development work on the composite monocoque chassis, lightweight alloy powertrains, automatic gearboxes and active aerodynamics. "He [Hall] walked right back into this and was able to apply thinkings and learnings," said Clay Dean, General Motors executive director of advanced design. The Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept was created at GM's North Hollywood advanced design studio, and it will be on display at the show through November. How the demise of Lincoln's Town Car has kick-started a limo revolution

Sun, 30 Dec 2012

The deaths of the Ford Crown Victoria and the Lincoln Town Car have meant overhauls of three high-profile American fleets: police, taxi and livery car. Just as police fleets are more open to considering other options and a Nissan van is the new face of the NYC taxi, livery car companies are looking at replacements for the Town Car beyond The Blue Oval. Ford, via Lincoln, has made an MKT Town Car (pictured), but an article in the Detroit News claims "it has failed to win over most of the big limousine companies." The upstarts trying to move in include livery and limo editions of the Cadillac XTS, and livery specifications of the Toyota Avalon and Chrysler 300.
Each of those challengers, however, faces challenges. The Town Car was a workhorse, American, rear-wheel-drive sedan with plenty of rear legroom. Cadillac has been in the livery space before but with decontented models that were about selling the brand, not its luxury. It is taking the opposite approach with the XTS, pointing out that its livery edition is "contented in the upper half of the XTS range." Still, the CEO of Michigan's largest livery company says "it's quite a bit smaller than what we're used to," and he also prefers rear-wheel drive.
The Chrysler 300 is rear-wheel drive, and American, which matters to some companies, but Chrysler hasn't yet revealed the livery package for it. The livery Avalon marks Toyota's first time getting into that business in the US, a natural step after having done so well with taxi clients and with the Town Car out of the way. Still, the livery client is a different to taxi buyers, so the Avalon could face other soft-touch hurdles.
