1981 Toyota Land Cruiser Fj43 Soft Top on 2040-cars
Clearwater Beach, Florida, United States
Volcan 4x4, LLC registered in Florida presents our 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43 Soft Top. We named her Rosalina for her shiny Freeborn Red paint same code as the data plate under the hood.
This is a highly desirable and highly restored truck. If you want an FJ43 this is your truck. This truck stops traffic in Colombia. Imagine what it will do in your neighborhood. This truck was recently highly restored by the previous owner and is shiny outside and underneath. No rust. Volcan 4x4 then spent over a month going through the truck with our specialists down in Colombia. All work was overseen by Land Cruiser enthusiast, US Citizen and owner of Volcan 4x4, Charles Guy. We performed the following: 1. 4 new Tokico shocks plus steering stabilizer 2. 5 restored and repainted 16 inch Toyota rims 3. 5 new South American brand unique traditional Mud Terrain 7.50 x 16 tires. These tires are great. 4. All new 4 drum brakes including drums, cylinders, brake lines, shoes. Truck stops straight and strongly coming down an 8000 foot mountain in the rain. 5. New oil, oil filter and air filter 6. New Pioneer head unit with ipod control and charger and remote and unique removable speaker box 7, Brand new exhaust 8. Recent alignment Can not confirm if this was a frame off restoration but all the bolts are new under the truck and the body paint under the truck along with the chassis is very very clean. Please note the stainless steel bolts. Some of the door and window gaskets are aftermarket but overall the truck looks very sharp. The new interior is a custom fabric used in Colombian restorations for its durability. This contrasting black interior has a denim feel and new car smell. It stays cool to the touch and looks perfectly durable for a trip to the beach. The custom top is high quality with high quality hardware and looks as new. Mechanically the truck starts up immediately with no choke. It feels very strong. Can not confirm if it was rebuilt. We test drove this truck upon completion one hour up from an elevation of 5000 feet on up to 8000 feet and it never overheated or lost power. The trip back down the mountain was in the rain and the brakes felt strong and secure. Please review videos of this test drive on Volcan 4x4 channel on youtube. Volcan 4x4 previously restored and imported a 1983 FJ40 into Tampa, Florida and sold it recently at Mecum Auctions in Kissimmee. We are now importing this FJ43 along with a classic Nissan Patrol. The trucks should arrive April. A $10,000 refundable deposit to Volcan 4x4, LLC will secure this truck at the agreed price. The buyer can fly to Tampa to review it. The FJ43's have enjoyed a great following on the auction circuit with prices in the $40,000 to $80,000 range. At $40,000 this truck is priced well within the market given its condition. Truck will be tagged in Florida or arrangements can be made with the Buyer's state. Remember these trucks did not have USA emissions equipment but most states have a model year waiver such as Florida does. Buyer is responsible for registering in their state. Volcan 4x4 is specializing in importing high quality, unique 4x4's to the US classic 4x4 community. Why buy an FJ40 when you can have this unique soft top FJ43 for $40,000? There are more photos on Facebook.com/volcan4x4 and youtube volcan4x4 channel. VIN will be same as the chassis number per Florida title. FJ43101104. Mileage unknown. |

Hydrogen stations that don't work putting a dent in H2 lifestyle
Fri, Jul 24 2015Hydrogen is the most plentiful element in the universe, but it's not abundant enough for some hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle drivers. Southern California lessees of models such as the Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell SUV are taking to Facebook to voice their complaints about out-of-order fuel cell stations, Green Car Reports says. In many cases, the lack of hydrogen supply has made the cars effectively undriveable. For Tucson Fuel Cell owners, the hydrogen is supposed to be free and unlimited, but Hyundai doesn't manage the stations. One Orange County lessee of a Tucson fuel-cell vehicle hasn't driven the car for over a month because the trio of nearby stations are out of commission. Additionally, some of the stations that do work can only provide about a half-tank worth of hydrogen, once again putting a crimp the driving range of the hydrogen car. California is home to 10 of the dozen public hydrogen refueling stations in the country (there's one each in Connecticut and South Carolina), according to US Department of Energy figures. These sorts of challenges can't help Hyundai's hydrogen efforts. Last month, it was reported that Hyundai has sold fewer than 300 fuel cell vehicles worldwide during the past three years, including about 70 through the first five months of this year. The South Korea-based automaker has said it wants to sell 1,000 fuel-cell vehicles globally by the end of 2015. Fuel-cell drivers and advocates alike are hoping that Toyota will change the game when its Mirai hydrogen vehicles start hitting California roads later this year. Toyota confirmed in May that Mirai US sales would start in October in eight California dealerships. The Northeast is on tap for 2016. Related Video:
Toyota's production fuel cell car to cost between $50-100k
Fri, 03 May 2013
While the cost of building a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle continues to go down over time, reports over the last few years have steadily maintained that the first Toyota hydrogen-powered vehicles for customers should ring up for around $50,000. Company officials cited this figure way back in 2010, and have reiterated it in subsequent years.
So, while a recent Automotive News report about the cost of Toyota's 2015 Hydrogen car doesn't offer up any new figures, it does offer an interesting pricing wrinkle. According to the report, the "cost factor" for the hydrogen vehicles will be in the $50k ballpark, meaning the retail price could be anywhere from there, up to as much as around $100,000.
2014 Toyota 4Runner Limited
Thu, 08 May 2014What would you say if we told you that outside of Jeep and Land Rover, the best brand for those who want to go off road is Toyota? Sounds remarkable, eh? But the truth is, Toyota's history of providing vehicles for the rougher bits of our blue marble dates back to 1950, barely a decade after Willys built the first Jeeps and only a few years after Land Rover made its big debut with the iconic Series I.
In fact, Toyota's start in off-roaders was with a small contract for providing the US Army with vehicles, during the Korean War. From that, the BJ was spawned. This Jeep-like vehicle evolved into the 20 Series and then into the iconic 40 Series Land Cruiser in the 1960s.
So yes, Toyota knows its way around the trails. While the Land Cruiser, deservedly, gets all the attention thanks to its impressive longevity, we're partial to the 4Runner, which is a far more affordable entry that serves as Toyota's challenger to the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
