1981 Toyota Fj40 on 2040-cars
Prosper, Texas, United States
I am selling a beautiful 1981 Toyota FJ40 that is in great condition. It is all original with the 2F engine that runs great. It has 214k miles but 70k miles were riding behind a RV bus. The engine is very clean and it does not leak a bit of oil. The front and rear jump seats are in great condition. All electrical works and all gauges work, except for fuel gauge. I think it just needs a sending unit. There is no rust on this FJ, the previous owner just had it repainted using the original correct Toyota Freeborn Red. The paint job on the FJ is awesome and looks great. Pictures usually make things looking better then they are, not here, the FJ looks better in person. The top fiber glass top is in excellent condition and it also was sanded down and repainted. During the painting the whether stripping on the doors was taken off and so was the headliner, so those need to be replace. Cool Cruisers of Texas sells both of them for roughly $150 bucks. If I was going to keep FJ, it demands a better set of tires. The ones on have roughly 60-70% tread left. This FJ spent its life in AZ, so the underside is in great condition. With all the fjs I get, I am going to flush the system out and give it a good old fashion tune up. I am going to drain oil and replace with full synthetic oil and toyota Filter, Wics air filter, Wics gas filter, drain and replace radiator fluid, new spark plugs, new spark plug wires and many other small items.
This FJ is in great overall condition, but it is not a showroom condition. With a few small upgrades this FJ will continue to rise in value. Please let me know if you have any questions. Your are welcome to preview the FJ. The FJ is being sold as is and does not have any type of warranty. I do not need help selling this FJ, scammers will be reported and low ballers will not get a response. A $2,000 deposited is due within 24 hours after the auction and remaining balance is due within three days. Please make sure you have the funds if your going to bid. I do NOT accept paypal as there have been issues with it, so wire or cash preferred. I will help out with shipping, but buyer will pay the cost of shipping. I have a lady that has moved over 10 fjs for me over the years and she is very fare and honest. I will be happy to give you her name and number if you need a shipper. Thanks |

Toyota C-HR Concept is a high-riding hybrid hatch [w/video]
Thu, 02 Oct 2014Despite having the tendency to offer decidedly bland production cars, Toyota occasionally surprises us with interesting concept cars. Such is the case with the C-HR concept making its debut at the Paris Motor Show this week. It's a concept showing forward-thinking design that hints at "a type of crossover vehicle Toyota would like to bring to market," according to the automaker's release, and it rides on an all-new platform and uses a hybrid powertrain.
About that powertrain: Toyota isn't revealing anything, just saying that it will - brace yourselves - "deliver significantly improved fuel efficiency" (over what, exactly?) The car also uses a brand-new architecture, though it hasn't really revealed any major details about that aspect, either.
It's a high-riding, muscular thing, with a rakish hatchback shape. Should it reach production, Toyota says it would take the shape of a C-segment crossover. It'd be cool to see something like this hit the road someday, but for now, we won't hold our breath.
Aston CEO claims Cygnet cancelled because Toyota is dropping iQ in 2014
Sun, 27 Oct 2013While slow sales and a $50,000 price tag may have been contributing factors to the Aston Martin Cygnet being cancelled last month, Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez is pointing the finger at Toyota for the demise of this luxurious little city car. In a discussion with Autocar, Bez is quoted as saying that the ultimate reason the Cygnet was cut is because Toyota plans on dropping the iQ (on which the Cygnet is based) in 2014 - a claim denied by the Japanese automaker.
Interestingly, the article also cites another publication reporting that a Toyota importer in the Netherlands heard the same news as Bez, and it has already stopped importing the cars. If the European Toyota iQ is cancelled, that would likely spell the end of the slow-selling Scion iQ in the US, which has sold just 3,365 units through September (a drop of 51 percent year over year).
Regardless of why production of the Cygnet ended, Bez also says that a lack of support from Toyota on the project prevented it from being offered in the US or receiving a supercharged engine, which are two factors that likely would have made the car appealing to more buyers.
NHTSA investigating 561k Toyota Prius hybrids for possible steering shaft defect
Mon, 25 Feb 2013The Detroit News is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will investigate some 561,000 Toyota Prius models for potentially defective steering shafts. The affected hybrid models are from the 2004-2009 model years. The story indicates that NHTSA is weighing whether or not to grant a defect petition, which claims that Toyota incorrectly assembled the hatchback's steering linkage.
As of this writing, there is no recall. However, a recall based on the Prius steering shaft would be the third related to steering issues for the model since 2006. Seven years ago, Toyota recalled 170K Prius models for potential cracking of the intermediate shafts, and in November of 2012, the automaker recalled 670K units to replace the steering shaft extension assembly.
We'll be monitoring NHTSA's signals to see if this investigation turns into a full-fledged recall. For now, stay tuned.
