1980 Toyota Land Cruiser Bj42 (3b Diesel) - Scarce Find - Super Clean on 2040-cars

Year:1980 Mileage:57000
Location:

Flagstaff, Arizona, United States

Flagstaff, Arizona, United States

This is a very rare condition 1980 Toyota BJ42 (3B Diesel) Land Cruiser with power steering and A/C.  Most of the Land Cruisers did not come with these options and they are very expensive to add.

- 4 speed transmission
- Power steering
- A/C
- Working snorkel that was recently professionally installed
- Great body and undercarriage. I did not see any visible rust when I drove it on the outside and underneath the vehicle.
- Newly reupholstered seats

With the power steering this would make a great every day driver and is perfect for offroad/long travel as well.  It was recently serviced and this great running diesel engine gets 25-30 MPG.  You can easily drive this day one anywhere that you desire without any issues.

I own this incredible BJ42 Land Cruiser and it is registered in my name, in the state of Florida.  I have the vehicle being kept at a local vintage Land Cruiser shop to be taken care of while it is being sold.  If you are local to Flagstaff, AZ and you wish to see the vehicle you can arrange with me to contact the shop owner to look at the vehicle.  If not, happy bidding!

On Jul-21-14 at 18:22:42 PDT, seller added the following information:

The vehicle VIN number cannot be entered into Ebays system, because:

  • The vehicle was manufactured prior to 1981
  • The vehicle does not have a 17-digit vehicle identification number.
  • The vehicle wasn't intended for the US market and was imported

The VIN stamped on the truck and Florida vehicle registration is as follows: BJ400641749

TMG's super Lexus LS Sports 650 gets track tested

Thu, 05 Sep 2013

The people at Toyota Motorsport GmbH have been responsible for the Japanese automaker's motorsports efforts since the 1970s, but since Toyota pulled out of Formula One after the 2009 season, the tuning shop has been developing a super sedan based on the Lexus LS called the Sports 650. Details on TMG's first road car have been scarce, but XCAR was recently invited to drive the 641-horsepower Lexus on track.
Here's what we know: the Sports 650 has enough power to sprint to 60 miles per hour in under four seconds, tops out at 199 mph, weighs over two tons and utilizes LFA brakes. Oh, and its twin-turbo V8 bellows like an AMG V8. That last part isn't surprising when considering TMG could become Toyota's in-house tuning arm - like AMG is to Mercedes-Benz. As for the bespoke body kit, fender flares and stacked exhaust pipes? They fit the car well and even remind us a bit of Lexus' other high-performance sedan, the IS F. Currently there are no plans for the Sports 650 to be made into a production car, but we doubt TMG is devoting this much effort developing the LS into a road-rocket for nothing.
Check out XCAR's video below to see the AMG-fighter wrung out on track, and then ponder what could be if TMG were let loose to fiddle with other cars in Lexus' lineup. Now that's something we could get used to!

Ford Fiesta ST in startling track battle against Toyota GT86

Wed, 26 Jun 2013

On the surface, there's very little that the Ford Fiesta ST and Toyota GT86 (or the Scion FR-S that is sold in the US, or the largely similar Subaru BRZ) share in common. One is a hatchback with power coming from a turbocharged engine routed to the front wheels. The other is a coupe with power coming from a naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine routed to the rear wheels.
Thing is, both of them are reasonably priced performance cars aimed at a similar segment of the automotive marketplace, so a comparison isn't out of the question. It is with all of this in mind that we direct you to the video below, in which the blokes from Evo pit the two manic little machines against one another on a race track. The result? Well, it can be summed up this way: Fast versus fun.
See how the track battle goes down in the video below.

Raising A White Flag To The Competition
We all benefit from highly competitive battles. In the automotive sector, few campaigns are so closely fought as the decades-long struggle for supremacy in the fullsize half-ton pickup truck segment. The Ford F-150 has dominated for ages, but Chevrolet, Ram and GMC have been closing the gap with freshly redesigned trucks that are rocking the industry.
Today's half-ton trucks are better than they've ever been, and we have fierce competition to thank for that.
