1980 FJ-40. With A/C. The date of construction is May 1980. This was a Texas truck formerly owned by a charter
member of Lone Star Land Cruisers and the former owner of the Zebranator (1975 FJ-40). If you have wanted the real
LandCruiser, this is your truck. Here is a description of its many features.
Body:
I purchased this beauty in 2008. Since that time, I have continued to improve on the previous owner’s work. She
was garaged for long periods while I was stationed overseas.
I added:
~ New radiator, battery~ BF Goodrich Mud Terrain 33x10.50 – 15s~ Excellent and comfortable bucket seats.
From the previous owner in 2008:
This was a frame on restoration ~ The first step was to remove all fixtures in the interior, repair and replace any
defective metal, rust with new metal. New parts when available from Toyota were used as well as body parts from
Cool Cruisers of Texas. The hood was brand new. The quarter panels were new, the fenders were new, the passenger
floor pan was new, the front bib and clip were also new.
~ The interior was painted with POR-15 (Paint Over Rust) to prevent and protect the body from future corrosion.
Next they covered the interior with Rhino Lining to give the interior more protection as well as that cool look
that Rhino Lining gives a trail truck.
~ They then painted the underbody of the truck with POR-15. ~ The entire exterior was sanded down and repainted red
~ All badges on the truck were replaced with OEM badges; all lenses on the lights were replaced; Hella H-4 halogen
headlights were added as well as Hella halogen fog lights. Both the front and rear jump seats were replaced
(Specter Off Road)
~ The roll cage, the heater, and the rear jump seats were sand blasted and powder coated.
~ A “Hell For Stout” front bumper from Cool Cruisers of Texas replaced the front bumper. It is ready for a
winch if desired. There are two tow rings on the bumper
~ A rear trailer hitch for towing is on the rear bumper.
~ OEM rubber door seals (weather-stripping) for the roof, the front doors, and ambulance doors
~ Off Road style OEM side mirrors were added plus I have the original side mirrors.
~ One Pakistani rear half tail gate and hardware. You can replace the ambulance doors with this drop down tail
gate. The Pakistani model is a copy of the rare old style Toyota rear FJ-40 tailgate.
~ Two Specter Off Road fiber glass half doors - Take the top off, add the half doors and the tailgate and you will
have that look only available with a FJ-40.
~ Roof head liner has a small but easily repaired tear.
~ Dash screw knobs, gear shift boots, sun visors, hood hooks and pads, windshield squirter ~ OEM windshield wiper
motor
~ OEM seatbelt receiver, seatbelts for rear jump seats. ~ Simpson 4 point off road seatbelts ~ Fire extinguisher ~
OEM Bottle Jack with OEM tire tools, all were sandblasted and powder coated in black. ~ Sand Blasted and powder
coated roll cage, replaced rubber head protectors on roll cage.
Engine and Transmission:
~This Cruiser has a fire breathing 2-F engine (that was rebuilt 17,000 miles ago). The compression is perfect; this
motor is stout.
~ Man A Fre Headers ~ Weber 38-38 carb with special Weber air cleaner ~ A rare H-55F 5 speed transmission with a
split transfer case. This transmission with a lower first gear and an overdrive gear was never sold in the USA. It
was purchased it from Man A Fre who rebuilt it and imported it from Australia.
~ Toyota Power Steering, with pump. Bracket made by CCOT. ~ A 4.11 rear end
~ Lock Rite rear locker
~ HEI distributor with a Toyota gear. The HEI really boosted the horsepower; and performance of the motor versus
the stock Toyota distributor. You are ready for fuel injection should you choose to go that route in the future. We
replaced all plug wires and plugs and the truck was recently tuned for peak performance.
~ OEM Master Cylinder, Clutch Master Cylinder and slave cylinder ~ New OEM fuel pump and fuel filter
~ FJ-60 High Output alternator that has been rewound by Specter Off Road for increased amps and voltage
~ OEM water pump ~ OEM horn ~ U-joints Tires and Misc.
~ Old Man Emu springs, shocks, and steering stabilizers – 2 to 3 inches of lift
~ Greasable shackels
~ Fender Flares are from Specter Off Road ~ Tuffy Center Console ~ New locks and keys for front and rear doors. ~
Bikini top with rails.

2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb, Practice Day 3
Thu, 27 Jun 2013The third practice day of the 91st Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is done. While the other classes got running time on the middle and top sections of the course, qualifying times were set on the bottom section of the course for the Open, Open Wheel, Electric, Exhibition and Vintage classes.
Everyone managed to keep it on the black stuff today, Greg Tracy setting the fastest time ahead of Hiroshi Masuoka, both men driving the Mitsubishi MiEV Evolution II four-wheel-drive prototype. Not even half a second behind Masuoka came Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima in his Monster Sport E-Runner, who has taken about 18 seconds off his time since the first practice day. Rod Millen was the fourth fastest on the day in his Toyota TMG EV POO2.
Topping the Open Wheel class was Clint Vahsholtz, followed by Donner Billingsley, Andy Figueroa and Rodney O'Maley. The only driver in that class not to be given a time today was Dan Novembre. Kenshiro Gushi took the Exhibition class today as his Lexus IS F CCS-R made it up the mountain in 4:27.248, followed by Sage Marie in the Honda CR-Z at 5:19.591. Simon Pagenaud and his Honda Odyssey weren't classified.
Toyota, Kaley Cuoco grant wishes in Super Bowl XLVII ad
Mon, 28 Jan 2013For viewers who plan on watching the Super Bowl only for the commercials, here's one for you to enjoy ahead of time. As we saw in the teaser video that Toyota released last week, will be making the transition from Big Bang to The Big Game as a wish-granting genie in a commercial for the 2013 Toyota RAV4.
Though not as entertaining as the actual teaser for this commercial, it still garnered a couple chuckles from the Autoblog crew. We won't spoil it for you, but a word of advice: if Cuoco ever shows up in your driveway granting you wishes, we'd suggest you be very clear what you want... and enunciate.
If you want to see the commercial before this Sunday's game, we have the video (and an accompanying press release) posted after the jump.
2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata battles Toyota GT86 on track
Mon, Oct 5 2015It's got two doors and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine up front, driving the rear wheels. It's made in Japan, and as far as bang-for-your-buck goes, it's a downright bargain. So which are we talking about, the Mazda MX-5 Miata, or the Toyobaru coupe known alternately as the Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S, or Toyota GT-86? The answer is "yes," and it just goes to show, roofs notwithstanding, how close these two vehicles really are to one another. Which one is your favorite may come down to a matter of personal taste, but for its latest video, Auto Express set out to find out which laps faster around the track. On paper at least, the Toyota's 200 horsepower will trump the Mazda's 155 any day of the week, and twice on Sunday. Then again, the Miata does weigh a good 400 pounds less, even with the 2.0-liter engine and despite its convertible bodystyle – but is that enough to make up the difference? You're going to have to just watch the video for yourself to find out. All we'll tell you is that the match is pretty darn close – what you might call a photo finish, if they were actually racing each other at the same time as opposed to each racing the clock separately. So watch the video above and voice your support for your favorite little Japanese sports car in the Comments section. Related Video:
