Hi,I am selling my 1979 Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) Diesel Toyota Landcruiser BJ41,this is similar to the European/Australian BJ40 and the US FJ40 model. This Cruiser even has the super rare factory OEM Nippon Denso A/C installed vs the dealer installed a/c systems like in the US FJ40's.On top of that it has a PTO winch installed also.It is a very solid driver with lots of work done in the last few months and many thousands of dollars spend on parts. The original 2B motor had dropped a valve so I replaced it with the  diesel B engine from my 1981 BJ43 with only 80 k miles on it (The 43 is getting a complete 70 series diesel transplant :-)).While I had the motor out I installed all new gasket and seals and  a complete Asco/Aisin clutch because this is very labor intense if needed later on.There is also a new set of BFG tires on it and a mild 2" lift kit.The A/C needs to be checked though since it's not really blowing cold air now,it might need some new gas or a tune up.This Cruiser will make someone a very nice and solid driver, all mechanical parts have been gone trough, brakes have been checked and they are all in excellent condition. Here is a short list off parts replaced in the last few months.

New Parts

-All seals and gaskets on engine

-Complete Aisin /asco clutch with pressure plate and pilot bairing

-windshield

-left front fender (ccot)

-Paint

-windshield

suspension bushing

-4 BFG 31/10.5X15 tires

-2 Batterys (24 Volt)

-And there is probably lots more that I am trying to forget I payed for ;-)

Like I said this will make someone a nice solid driver as it is mechanical 100%,it has new paint and lots of new parts,a/c needs to be checked but it is the super rare oem one,the headliner is rough and I recommend replacing it (I glued it back on where it came loose)The previous owner did some weird metal repairs wich led me to replace a fender, driver side door and one of the rear doors before I painted it ( biggest reason being at one point the outside was painted maroon :( ) As you can see it still has the factory mats and seatbelts and things like that wich are very hard to find if your Cruiser comes without, that being said I am not trying to fool you that this is one of the 80K plus Cruiser that you see at the auction but just a cool classic old Cruiser ready to make someone happy. It has a clean South Dakota title and it can be seen and inspected by you or a third party at my home in Texas just North of Dallas.I am also listing this for sale localy so I remain the right to remove the listing before it ends.500$ deposit required within 12hours after the listing ends and I can assist you loading it but please research your own shipping options if you can not pick it up yourself,I will not waste your time so please do not waste mine.

PLEASE SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY,BUYERS WITH LESS THEN 5 FEEDBACK PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING.

It is still a 35 year old suv so it is sold as is where is ,feel free to contact me with any questions and you are welcome to inspect it or have it inspected by a third party before the auction ends.

PS It is also for sale localy so I remain the right to end the listing early if sold local.

Thanks for watching and happy bidding

Joe

Toyota settles first wrongful death suit related to unintended acceleration

Mon, 21 Jan 2013

Toyota's sales seem to have rebounded from the unintended acceleration issues from 2009 and 2010, but the automaker is far from done dealing with this situation. Following a settlement worth up to $1.4 billion for economic loss to affected vehicle owners, Toyota has settled rather than going to trial in a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from an accident in Utah in 2010 that left two passengers dead. This isn't the first case in which Toyota has settled, but it was the first among a consolidated group of cases being held in Santa Ana, CA.
According to The Detroit News, this case was scheduled to take place next month, and it was for a November 2010 incident in which Paul Van Alfen and Charlene James Lloyd were killed in a Camry when, based on findings by the Utah Highway Patrol, the accelerator got stuck causing the car to speed out of control and hit a wall; the terms of the settlement were not announced.
The article says that while Toyota will settle on some cases, it doesn't plan on settling on all of them as it still wants to be able to "defend [its] product at trial." This will probably be the case in suits claiming that software for the drive-by-wire accelerator was the cause of an accident in a Toyota or Lexus vehicle. The question of whether or not the electronic accelerator played any role in this problem has been a hot-button topic since the beginning. Toyota has issued recalls in the past to attempt to prevent unintended acceleration caused by trapped floor mats and faulty accelerator pedals, but it also says driver error was to blame in some instances.

NHTSA opens safety investigations into Toyota, GM and Honda crossovers

Fri, 08 Jun 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is evidently keeping itself very busy these days, as the federal agency has just announced it is launching or renewing investigations into Toyota, Honda and General Motors crossovers.
2006-2008 model year Toyota RAV4 crossovers are under review for allegations of rear tie-rod rust which can result in failure. NHTSA also said it is probing some 35 complaints about 2005 Honda Pilot models with inappropriate activation of the vehicles' stability control system. The alleged malfunction can cause the vehicles to slow down or stop in bad unsafe situations. At the moment, NHTSA is reviewing a petition regarding the Pilot issue, a move that will determine whether it needs to open a full-blown investigation.
In addition, Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia three-row crossovers built in 2007-2009 are getting looked at for "loss of low beam headlamp" function. One complainant said the wiring in his Outlook overheated and melted. NHTSA says it has received 415 complaints about the problem and a GM spokesman confirmed that the automaker already started a "Customer Satisfaction Program" in December to address the issue.

US Congress lets $8,000 hydrogen vehicle tax credit expire

Mon, Dec 22 2014

When Toyota introduced the 2016 Mirai last month in preparation for a launch late next year, it said that the hydrogen car will have a $57,500 MSRP and that there will be a federal tax credit available worth up to $8,000. The problem, as we noted at the time, is that that federal credit was set to expire at the end of 2014. The technical language of the current rule says that someone who buys a fuel cell vehicle, "may claim a credit for the certified amount for a fuel cell vehicle if it is placed in service by the taxpayer after Dec. 31, 2005, and is purchased on or before Dec. 31, 2014." With the 113th Congress now finished up for the year and legislators headed home for the holidays, we know one thing for certain: the federal tax credit for hydrogen vehicles was not updated and will end as we're all singing Auld Lang Syne next week. All of this isn't to say that Mirai buyers won't be able to take $8,000 off the price of the car 12 months from now. For proof of that, we only need to look at other alternative fuel tax incentives and realize that this Congress simply isn't moving fast enough to deal with things that are expiring right now. One of the last things that the 113th Congress did in December was to take up the tax credits that expired at the end of 2013 and renew some of them. Jay Friedland, Plug In America's senior policy advisor, told AutoblogGreen that PIA and other likeminded organizations worked with Congress to extended the electronic vehicle charging station (technically: EVSE) tax credit that was part of the Alternative Refueling Tax Credit in IRS Section 30(C) through the end of 2014. "Individuals can deduct 30 percent of the cost of purchasing and installing an EVSE up to $1,000; businesses, 30 percent up to $30,000," he said. "This tax credit is applied to any system placed into service by 12/31/14 and is retroactive to the beginning of the year. So go out and buy your favorite EV driver an EVSE for the holidays," he said. An electric motorcycle credit was killed at the last minute as Congress was getting ready to leave, but H.R. 5771 did extend the Alternative Fuels Excise Tax Credits for liquefied hydrogen and other alternative fuels. These sorts of tax credit battles happen all year long. In July, Blumenthal introduced the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Infrastructure Act of 2014, which never got out of the Finance Committee. Back to the hydrogen vehicle situation.
