Up for sale is my 1978 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser with the original engine paired with an fj60 transmission allowing for better road driving while still being able to go anywhere in four wheel drive. The truck runs great and is in very good mechanical shape. Everything is tight, transmission shifts smoothly and 4x4 works as it should. Has brand new tires on it with a spare mounted on the rear to match. Diamond plate was added to the truck a few years ago prior to my ownership, this was done for looks but over the years there has been some rust accumulate in a few places under it as it holds moisture and I have included pictures of the bad spots under it. The front fenders are solid and have been rhino lined, this was also done for looks and preserved the fenders. There has been some rust on the truck over the years and there are a few small patches but nothing major, the frame has no rust. This truck is in great shape but is not a show truck, I didn't want a truck that I would be scared to drive. Truck is for sale locally as well so I reserve the right to end the auction if a buyer comes along. 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb, Practice Day 3
Thu, 27 Jun 2013The third practice day of the 91st Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is done. While the other classes got running time on the middle and top sections of the course, qualifying times were set on the bottom section of the course for the Open, Open Wheel, Electric, Exhibition and Vintage classes.
Everyone managed to keep it on the black stuff today, Greg Tracy setting the fastest time ahead of Hiroshi Masuoka, both men driving the Mitsubishi MiEV Evolution II four-wheel-drive prototype. Not even half a second behind Masuoka came Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima in his Monster Sport E-Runner, who has taken about 18 seconds off his time since the first practice day. Rod Millen was the fourth fastest on the day in his Toyota TMG EV POO2.
Topping the Open Wheel class was Clint Vahsholtz, followed by Donner Billingsley, Andy Figueroa and Rodney O'Maley. The only driver in that class not to be given a time today was Dan Novembre. Kenshiro Gushi took the Exhibition class today as his Lexus IS F CCS-R made it up the mountain in 4:27.248, followed by Sage Marie in the Honda CR-Z at 5:19.591. Simon Pagenaud and his Honda Odyssey weren't classified.
Unifor may establish local union for Toyota's Canadian plants
Thu, 17 Jul 2014Union tactics apparently translate across borders, as Canada's Unifor may take inspiration from the United Auto Workers' recent move at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN, and establish a local for the Toyota factories in Cambridge and Woodstock.
Unifor last attempted to organize the workers at the two factories, which are responsible for production of the Toyota Corolla (above), RAV4 and Lexus RX back in April, but that vote was eventually delayed. According to that report, 3,000 of the two plants' 7,500 employees signed union cards, but that apparently wasn't enough for Unifor to force a vote.
Because of this, the union is looking at the local approach, like what the UAW is attempting with VW.
2014 Toyota Corolla priced from $16,800*
Tue, 27 Aug 2013We'll be publishing our First Drive of the 2014 Toyota Corolla later today, but right now, we can reveal that the eleventh-generation compact will be priced from $16,800 when it hits dealerships this fall (*not including a $810 destination charge).
Four trim levels will be offered, and that sub-$17,000 price point reflects the base L grade with a six-speed manual transmission. Adding the four-speed automatic (yep) brings that price up to $17,400, which gets you the usual features standard on this class of car, including Bluetooth connectivity, eight airbags and - a first for this price point - LED headlamps.
From there, the LE trim ($18,300) adds a backup camera, cruise control, keyless entry, Entune audio (including a 6.1-inch touchscreen) and a brand-new continuously variable transmission replacing the four-speed auto. There's even an Eco version of the LE trim that uses a different engine tune to provide fuel economy of up to 42 miles per gallon on the highway.
