1977 Toyota Land Cruiser Fj40 Landcruiser Trades Financing Original Trade-in on 2040-cars
Nashville, Tennessee, United States
Up for grabs is this rare 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. This FJ is in excellent mechanical shape, and I just had it fully tuned-up, to include all new fluids, new spark plugs, wires, etc, and also a new fuel filter. At the same time, I had a compression test performed-all cylinders were within 5psi of 150 psi, this 2F motor is very strong. The Land Cruiser starts up very easily, and I have been using this as a daily driver on both city streets and the highway with no problems. I rarely have to use the choke, it starts that easily! Brakes are tight are work very well. The four speed transmission shifts easily, the clutch is strong, and while older, it does have plenty of "pep" to keep up with traffic.
Interior is also in good shape, as all of the gauges are fully functional, the wipers work, and so do the turn signals! The radio is present, it may not be original, and it is not functional at present. The seats are in brand-new shape, and have clearly been recovered. The heater is present for both the front and the rear, and appears to be complete (although I have not tested it). Rear jump seats are included with the vehicle. Obviously, the exterior has some rust as shown on the body and rear of the cab. However, it is not nearly as bad as some of the Land Cruisers I have had, and everything is easily fixable. Tires have plenty of tread, spare is covered by a modern FJ Cruiser wheel cover; original wheels and hub caps appear to be in good condition. Since these photos have been taken, I replaced the brake light covers with new pieces. I know that it does not have ambulance doors presently, but this could be easily remedied. The front bumper is new, as is the grille guard. I will include rear bumperettes with the sale. Please feel free to ask any questions BEFORE the end of the auction, my cell phone is 615-300-6004. I am a licensed dealer located in Nashville, TN; my main focus is Toyota Land Cruisers and other vintage SUV's/4x4's, and this is a great example of an FJ that can be purchased for an affordable price and driven as-is and/or restored. In addition to the purchase price, there is a $199 doc fee, .03% Nashville city tax, and a $25 fee to send the title to you via FedEx. I can assist with financing for this FJ, please contact me directly for details. I will take trades on a case-by-case basis, please contact me directly to discuss. I can also assist with delivery of this FJ to you anywhere in the United States or internationally (buyer to pay all shipping fees), please provide your zip code for the most accurate quote. Again, please ask any and all questions before the end of the auction. Please confirm with your spouse/partner/child/pet/religious leader that you are serious about purchasing this vehicle BEFORE bidding AND that you have the sufficient funds in place to pay for this FJ40. Again, I am available to answer questions on 615-300-6004 or via eBay. We accept the following forms of payment: Cash, Cashier's Check, Wire Transfer (small fee applies), and Credit/Debit Cards (3% swipe fee applies). I will release the title only after all of the outstanding balance has been collected; if paying by check, title will be sent separately after seven (7) business days. The FJ will be sold with a thirty day temporary tag. I will send the title to the buyer via FedEx. This is a great driving truck with a ton of potential that is ready for immediate duty as a daily driver. The reserve is set VERY low for an FJ40, please do not contact me to disclose the reserve price. This vehicle is also listed for sale on Rockstar Motorcars. Thanks! |

Jay Leno gets behind the curtain on the design of the Toyota FT-1 concept
Mon, 07 Apr 2014Hinting at the future of Toyota performance vehicles, the FT-1 concept was one of the stars of the Detroit Auto Show this year. It even nabbed fourth place in our Editors' Choice list. While he's a few months behind the car's official reveal, Jay Leno managed to get the only existing concept of the sports coupe wheeled into his garage to take a closer look, and he's pretty impressed.
Leno speaks with Alex Shen and William Chergosky, the exterior and interior chief designers of the FT-1 respectively, to get a better idea of the inspirations behind the concept. Jay heaps high praise on it for mixing Italian and Japanese design and says he likes the look even more than the Lexus LFA. The coupe isn't a product of either country, though. It was penned at Toyota's CALTY Design Research center in Newport Beach, CA.
The designers go into the entire history of the FT-1, and Shen even admits that Toyota design lacks an emotional factor at the moment. It's a fascinating interview behind some of the little touches you might miss at first glance. Unfortunately, the model doesn't have the green light for production yet and may never get made. In any case, scroll down to watch Leno swoon over the coupe.
Toyota and Mercedes begin the Super Bowl ad teases with dads and hares
Tue, Jan 20 2015Advertising Age says pregame buzz is where Super Bowl advertisers really build momentum for their Big Game commercials, so let the teasing continue. We've seen the 30-second spot for the Lexus NX, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota are next out of the tunnel with campaigns that focus on a fable and fathers, respectively. The Mercedes tease gets former NFL wide receiver Jerry Rice lining up a talking-heads debate with eight-year-old Andrew Hunter about whether Hunter's hare could beat a tortoise in a race, but it's a disaster before it even begins. In what will be a continuing storyline, a social media component lets people side with #TeamTortoise or #TeamHare, with "a Big Race viewing party" going to a lucky winner. Mercedes also promises there'll be a hero at the end, which we imagine will something in the Three-Pointed-Star family as opposed to the Testudinae or Leporidae families. Toyota's all about the biological family, rolling out a series of tweets and Vine videos showing off ex-NFL'ers and their kids to hype the "One Bold Choice Leads to Another" campaign for the Camry. The profiled paterfamiliae will be examples of those "who have contributed to their families' lives in bold ways." A 60-second spot during the pre-game will feature Paralympic athlete Amy Purdy, then those stand-up dads will get their own 60 seconds during the second quarter. The social media tag for this one is #OneBoldChoice. You can watch Mercedes' opening salvo above, and check out a Toyota tweet with ex-quarterback Kurt Warner below. Toyota asking NHTSA for fuel cell car safety exemption regarding electric shocks
Mon, 30 Jun 2014Toyota is requesting an exemption from federal safety regulations that govern electric cars as it prepares to launch a small-scale hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle fleet.
The Japanese automaker is targeting Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 305, which covers the packaging of high-voltage parts in electric cars. According to Uncle Sam, these systems need to be isolated so that passengers and first responders aren't electrocuted in the event of a crash. That seems pretty smart, but it's become a problem for Toyota's upcoming production fuel cell vehicle, as the mechanism that prevents electric shocks in low-speed crashes will apparently simply keep Toyota's car from even functioning.
Instead of the federally approved system, Bloomberg reports that Toyota plans to insulate the high-voltage wires and cables in the car, along with shielding electrical components like the fuel cells, electric motor and batteries with (presumably non-conductive) metal barriers.
