1977 FJ40 that runs great. Driven daily, mileage will go up slightly during this auction.

Bought in January as a project from a local farm. Since then I have replaced or repaired the following items to make it reliable. It has never left me stranded.

-Electronic ignition from Davis Unified Ignition (D.U.I)

-Starter (rebuilt unit with 1 yr warranty)

-Rebuilt wiper motor

-New tail lights

-New headlights

-New clutch master cylinder

-New clutch slave cylinder

-New brake master cylinder

-New brake calipers and pads

-New thermostat

-Recored radiator

-New hoses

-New rag joint (steering coupler, went with a rubber unit)

-New ignition switch

Lap belts added to replace seat belts.

Power steering added long ago.

Locker in rear axle.

Tub was removed from frame and frame was coated about 5 years ago. Rock solid frame. Body has surface rust underneath and some body work on the driver's side. Tub is not set up for ambulance doors, but top can accept ambulance doors. Hatch and tail gate are bolted in, but hinges for hatch are included (they are painted in the color of the FJ).

Paint is a 7/10, it's a Maaco paint job. I did not have the rust patched or hidden, I wanted the next owner to know what this FJ had in terms of rust. It's minor: front of hood and bottom of headlight bib. I do have the paint code available, as well as a small amount of the paint used to paint the FJ.

Spare parts included: supports for the side step on the driver's side, original headliner, some bolts and screws, and a few miscellaneous used parts like a starter, the original non power steering box, etc...

Inspections are welcome at any time. I have the Cruiser for sale locally and can end the auction at anytime. I absolutely love this thing but I lack the time to finish it completely. Clear Kentucky title in my name.

I will assist with shipping to the best of my abilities. International shipping is fine, I can recommend a number of great car shippers.

Quick disclaimer: sold as-is, where-is. Sale is final and flakes will be reported to Ebay.

This '59 Cadillac is now on display at Toyota's museum in Japan

Tue, Dec 20 2016

The Toyota Automobile Museum is different from a lot of other automaker collections in one very interesting way: It doesn't focus solely on Toyota's own automobiles. While the home team is certainly well represented, the love is spread to plenty of non-Toyota brands and vehicles that are significant to automotive history. And that permanent collection now includes the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible you see here. Yes, the '59 Caddy has the biggest tail fins ever, which makes it measurably significant. You still wouldn't expect to see it in a museum in Japan, though. After updates to the facility and its exhibits finish early next year, the 67-vehicle collection will also include such greats as a Renault 5 (known here as the Le Car), a '64 Ford Mustang, an Audi Quattro, a first-gen Honda Insight, and a Lotus Elite. Someone over there has good taste. You can visit the Toyota Automobile Museum the next time you're in Nagakute City, which is right outside Nagoya. We're booking our tickets now. RC car drift video brings Fast and Furious style in 1:10 scale

Mon, Apr 13 2015

Taking a cue from Lexus' 2015 Super Bowl ad Let's Play, Falken Tire is proving that RC cars can drift just as well, if not better, than their full-size counterparts. However, to make things four times as exciting, this clip eschews a single hopped-up model hanging its tail out in favor of a quartet of them sliding around together. Starring 1:10 RC versions of popular drift machines like the Nissan S15 Silvia, Mazda FD-chassis RX-7 and Initial D star Toyota Corolla AE86, these cars also get a suite of blinking LEDs to lend some extra color to all of the tire spinning. Plus, the use of well-positioned cameras and a scale model environment almost makes this group look like they're at work in the real world. Watch the Muppets go for ice cream in a Toyota

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

Do Muppets drive? We're not sure it's necessarily a good idea, but it's been known to happen. Fozzy called his hibernating uncle's Studebaker a bear's "natural habitat," and Doctor Teeth wouldn't get the Electric Mayhem very far without his band's psychedelically painted school bus. But how about Rolf in a 2014 Toyota Highlander?
That's what we got a glimpse of in the run-up to the Super Bowl, and the same combination (plus one Rizzo the Rat) that features in this adorably ordinary video below. Ordinary because it's just a couple of guys going out for an ice cream. Adorable because, well... they're Muppets. See what we mean in the surprisingly entertaining two-minute clip below.
