1976 Toyota Land Cruiser Fj40 Survivor Ca Find 4wd All Original At No Reserve on 2040-cars
Lakewood, California, United States
3 DAY AUCTION @ NO RESERVE - SOLD TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER! A Rare Southern California Find, A 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 that remains in Survivor condition. All Original & never has been modified (stock/uncut). Factory 4.2L 6 cylinder, 4 speed manual transmission, Front Disc Brakes & the 2 speed 4WD transfer case is original. Has 95,166 actual miles. Was found sitting in the 2 Owner's driveway in Los Angeles. He purchased it in 1997 from the original owner (A WW2 Veteran) who lived in San Bernardino County. It remains in the same condition as it did in the original owners hands as of today. Nothing has been changed, even the rifle rack the first owner added is still in place. Appears to be the original paint, factory Toyota Offered decal, wheel paint & glass. A excellent example of a California Find, very solid thru out. Has its common surface rust from being original but the undercarriage is solid & most important original. The interior is 100% bone stock. All original upholstery, rubber mats, knobs, roll bars & rear heater (not connected). The owner mention to us that the original owner told us that he added the SkyPort sunroof from Toyota, as a dealer option. Driver seat cushion has some wear but not serious. The headliner was sagging, so we removed most of it. All the glass is in beautiful shape for its age. The Toyota is running & driving. Starts right, shifts & brakes just fine. All the lights work, transfer case as well as the gauges. Has a old set of tires but they still work for driving locally. Cool options include Interior rifle rack, tailgate spare/cans holder & towing hitch. ~ Terms & Agreement ~ I have set my auction at 3 Days With No Reserve, meaning it will sell to the highest bidder. Toyota creates GT86 concept inspired by Initial D
Wed, Jun 29 2016Everyone has a favorite movie or TV car of their youths. The love of these cars can ignite a lifelong passion for automobiles. Some lust for the sharp, stainless steel DeLorean DMC-12 from Back to the Future or the decked-out Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger. For anime and manga fans, it's the panda-colored Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno from the Initial D manga and anime series. Toyota, recognizing the significance of the that car, meticulously reimagined it for a modern audience, basing it on the UK market GT86. The GT86, sold in the United States as the Scion FR-S and soon to be rebadged as the Toyota 86, is considered by some to be the spiritual successor to the rear-wheel-drive AE86 Corolla from the 1980s. Both are reasonably affordable, lightweight cars with a propensity for oversteer. The original AE86 from Initial D was a highly modified but realistic drift machine. The amazing feats of that tofu delivery car as it raced everything from Mazda RX-7s to a Honda S2000 turned the little Toyota into a cult icon. That AE86 itself was inspired by the personal vehicle of Japanese racing driver Keiichi Tsuchiya. Tsuchiya served as both an inspiration and supervisor for Initial D. Many of the modifications on the Initial D car, like the TRD carbon-fiber hood and Fujitsubo exhaust, car were exactly the same as Tsuchiya's real-life vehicle. Toyota is no stranger to crafting modern incarnations of classic vehicles. Last year the company created a Back to the Future Tacoma. Toyota's Initial D concept car uses the same parts wherever possible. Like the original, it has a carbon-fiber hood, Fujitsubo exhaust, and black Watanabe F8 wheels. The suspension, lights, and body have all been modified. Even small details like the engine cover and door handles were modified to recall the fictional car. The end result is a fantastic creation that pays great homage to the original. Toyota went as far as hiring UK manga artist Sonia Leong to design a series of backdrops that place the car in the same action shots as the original series. While this one-off vehicle is just a concept, most of the parts are available to purchase for fans who may be inspired to create their own version. Toyota's concept will be on display at various motoring shows across the UK this summer. Related video: Featured Gallery Toyota Initial D GT86 TV/Movies Scion Toyota Coupe toyota gt86 toyota 86
Watch a Camry driver in full road rage
Mon, 29 Apr 2013There are vehicles that, fair or not, will forever be associated with jerky drivers. But as this very recent footage from an in-car camera shows, even the most mundane of sedans can be piloted by an ass.
In this video, the driver of one very beige Toyota Camry is driving like a person choked with rage. Though we don't see which (if any) actions by our camera car might have lead up to the tirade, we do see the Camry driver swerving from lane to lane, in multiple attempts to get in front of and brake check the couple in the recording.
According to the text associated with the YouTube video, the offending incident took place last week, on a section of I-880 near Fremont, CA. The uploader has gone so far as to include the date, time and license plate number of the Camry driver, in hopes, we guess, that some kind of legal action can be taken against him. Take a closer look for yourself in the video below.
Toyota GT86 turbo, convertible, sedan variants back on the table
Fri, 02 May 2014Okay Toyota, make up your mind. Figure it out. Quit playing games with our heart. Either build a bunch of variations of the excellent GT86 (also known as the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ) or don't. At this point, we're just tired of the back and forth. After no shortage of denials, an Australian website is claiming that Toyota is reconsidering convertible, four-door, turbocharged and all-wheel-drive hybrid variants of the GT86. Kindly pass all the salt.
It's not that we don't want to believe the Aussies; we do. But when the story lists the same "sources in Japan" as a lot of the other denials and confirmations about GT86/BRZ/FR-S variants, well, there's a certain sense of the "Boy That Cried Wolf," here. Ignoring all that, then, what does Motoring.com.au claim to know?
Sources claim the GT86 Convertible will arrive in October 2014, while the turbocharged and hybrid sedans are slated for 2016.
