1976 Toyota Fj40 Land Cruiser on 2040-cars
Spearfish, South Dakota, United States
Great original, uncut 1976 FJ 40. Original owner from Idaho, did absolutely no mods to the Cruiser except had a sunroof installed profesionally the same year he bought it. Sunroof does NOT leak at all! Original headliner still looks perfect. Eventually sold to a couple who ranch in Wyoming. They kept the Cruiser original except for adding fender flares WITHOUT cutting the fenders. Fenders are uncut and original. They also installed diamond plate. I have removed the fender flares and diamond plate in the interest of full disclosure. There is some rust in the rear bottom corners and rear sill, though not nearly as bad as some I have seen. Easily repairable. This Cruiser has way less than the normal rust. I injured my knee last fall and have been rehab all winter so haven't done anything to it other than put new tires on it. Still has the caked Wyoming dirt on drivers side floor. So in the pics you are seeing dirt, NOT rust! Now it has to go because at age 56 my knee is not healing as it should and I just can't work on vehicles anymore. I drove it 370 miles from Wyoming to my home in South Dakota. The floor boards front and back are all solid. Some surface rust on rear bed I have pictured, but NOT cancerous rust thru. The drivers side floorboards still have the sound batting that was commonly installed in the 1970's. Mechanically runs great! Transmission shifts smoothly, four wheel drive works great, engine starts and runs awesome. No cracked or broken glass. As I said, I drove it from Wyomng 370 miles with no problems. I purchased the following NEW parts that will go with the vehicle: A. 2 1/2 inch ProComp suspension lift springs B. 4 New ProComp Shocks C. New Black Shock Boots D. New U Bolts E. New Bushings F. New SkyJacker Steering Stabilizer. G. New Dash Pad New parts total over $1100 plus $800 for the New 33 x 10.50 x 15 BFG All Terrain KO's Shipping is your responsibility, but I am happy to assist your shipper by being available whenever needed. Vehicle is for sale in other venues so I reserve the right to end the auction early if vehicle is no longer available for sale. This is an auction, and as such I will NOT disclose the reserve, so please don't ask. The reserve is very reasonable. Bidders with ZERO OR NEGATIVE feedback must call me before they bid, or I will cancel your bid and block you from further bidding. Do not bid unless you have your financing in order. Your bid is a binding contract, and I will go to great lengths to recover damages from non-paying bidders. A $500 deposit must be received via paypal or wire transfer within 48 mours of auctions end. Toyota says you might have the 40-millionth Corolla ever built
Sat, 07 Sep 2013The guy who bought the 50-millionth Toyota in the US got a free Camry and RAV4, but whoever in the world bought the 40-millionth Corolla in August gets a hearty "thank you" from the Japanese automaker. On sale since 1966, the Corolla is the best-selling nameplate in the world by a goodly margin (more than the Volkswagen Beetle and Ford Model T combined). So while you'd think that vehicle number 40 million would be sitting in a museum somewhere, Toyota can't even say in which country this milestone Corolla was sold, let alone to which customer.
One reason that Toyota is unsure where this Corolla was sold is the fact that the Corolla name itself is more than just the compact sedan sold in the US. On our shores alone, sales of the Matrix are lumped in with the Corolla, but around the world, numerous vehicles wear the Corolla name or share its platform. Scroll down for Toyota's press release, and it has also put together a website celebrating 47 years and 40 million sales for the Corolla... and counting.

Toyota says no one wants a Toyota electric car
Tue, Oct 28 2014It's no secret that Toyota doesn't really have a heart in pushing pure electric vehicles. The very limited Scion iQ EV project was killed before it went very far and the RAV4 EV project with Tesla was always only meant to produce just 2,600 units, but it didn't even get that far. In short, by all public appearances, Toyota just doesn't see the value of a pure EV. "No one is coming to our door asking us to build a new electric car." – Toyota's Craig Scott Toyota's public reasoning for the lack of a Prius C EV, for example, has often been that customers don't want to compromise on range and that hydrogen is a better bet. Company executives like Bob Carter say so over and over again. A new comment by Craig Scott, Toyota's national manager of advanced technologies, says that the Japanese automaker, give a slightly different spin on things. "Toyota actually favors fuel cells over other zero-emission vehicles, like pure battery electric vehicles," he told the Los Angeles Times. "We would like to be still selling cars when there's no more gas. And no one is coming to our door asking us to build a new electric car." This, understandably, has riled up a lot of EV supporters, many of whom have called on all automakers to sell more electric vehicles. After all, if Nissan can sell around 3,000 EVs a month in the US, couldn't Toyota do something similar? Are there thousands of people coming to the door asking for the fuel cell sedan that Toyota will start selling in the US next year? That answer is unclear, but it certainly doesn't look like Toyota is backing off its H2 bet any time soon.
