1976 Fj40 Land Cruiser Nut & Bolt Rotisserie Restoration on 2040-cars

Year:1976 Mileage:600

This 1976 FJ40 Land Cruiser has undergone a COMPLETE frame off rotisserie, nut and bolt restoration.  EVERY single part has been media blasted and either powder coated or epoxy primed and painted with a base coat clear coat paint system. All paint product exceeded the original 1976 standard and will out live both you and I.

I began this project fulfilling a dream of owning an FJ40 since I was a kid in High School. I always wanted a Cruiser but could never afford to make one the way it deserved to be restored. I searched high and low for the right vehicle, I flew thousands of miles and drove up and down the coast looking at old rusted out turds. Most people have a skewed idea of what a restoration is. What you'll typically find in most peoples eyes of a restored vehicle is rattle canned under carriage with maybe some new parts here and there and a nice paint job. To me that IS NOT restored but merely cleaned up and considered a daily driver. A restoration is the ENTIRE project broken down and re assembled to new.

I came across this barn find that needed a new home as the owner became to old to enjoy his FJ (literally in a barn beside an old school Farmall Cub)

Most people have a bullet list of all the new parts installed in their restored project. Frankly, If I made a list it would be PAGES long. What I did was replaced everything that was bad  with OEM Toyota part if available. If OEM parts were not available I would search for the BEST condition used part, restore it, and if those parts weren't around they were replaced with after market parts (VERY few used).  This is truly a work of art and demands someone to treat it as such. This Fj40 is a garage queen and never sees the rain (pavement princess).

Attached are a few photos to give you an idea of what measures were taken to restore this vehicle. In my opinion this Cruiser would give Sheryl Crow or Jay Lenos  Icon FJ40 a run for their money..

If you are truly interested in owning this Cruiser I would be happy to answer any and ALL questions over the phone. It's much easier to talk in person then write a novel on an Ebay posting.

I have over 500 photos documenting every step of this restoration and only able to post a few photos on Ebay. If there is a specific photo or question please don't hesitate to ask.

Ebay will not allow me to upload any more photos, send a request to my email for specific photos and I'll get them to you as soon as possible.  Thank You

Mazda CX-5 named Japan's Car of The Year, Subaru BR-Z wins "Special Award"

Mon, 03 Dec 2012

The Mazda CX-5 stamped its Kodo design and SkyActiv technology authority all over the Japan Car of the Year awards, taking the top prize ahead of the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT 86. It is Mazda's second victory in the last ten years, the 2005 MX-5 claiming the same trophy, and the fourth time the Hiroshima company has won.
The award is decided by 60 local "automotive experts and journalists," and open to any passenger car released in Japan from November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2012 that has sold more than 500 units. Each judge gets 25 votes, his or her top vote getting 10 points, the rest of the points being spread among the judge's choice for the next best four cars.
The second-place getters were the Toyobaru twins with 318 votes, the surprise being they didn't beat or get any closer to the crossover. The Subaru BRZ did claw some mojo back, earning the Special Award given to cars that have made "an exceptional impact." The BMW 3 Series was third overall and won the Import Car of the Year award with plenty of room between it and the second place Range Rover Evoque.

We dialed a random Swede, talked about not driving Volvos

Fri, Apr 8 2016

The Swedish Number is now a thing. It's a cool thing. You dial, a random Swede picks up, and you chat. Or, in my case, you dial and a random Brit living in Sweden for the past six year picks up and you chat. Since I was calling on behalf of Autoblog, when I got Martin from the small coastal town of Sundsvall, on the phone, we talked about cars, Volvos (natch), and cold-weather testing. Oh, and about plugging in his regular Toyota Prius. ABG: I was able to come to Sweden and test Volvos a month or so ago. Do you drive a Volvo? Martin: [laughs] No. I think Volvo is a fantastic car. It truly is an amazing car, but no. My girlfriend has a company car, so we drive a hybrid Toyota Prius. ABG: And how does that work in the cold winters? It obviously cuts down on the environmental problems. Martin: No problem at all. Because we have these cold winters, like you do get in the States as well, where we park our cars, we've got electricity posts where we can plug in the cars. Motor car engines have a heater, so you can have the heater going for some time before you get into the car. So it warms up the engine and there's a socket inside the car to warm up the inside of the car as well. It's very efficient. You just need to remember to set the timer when you climb out of the car and connect the cable. It obviously cuts down on the environmental problems as well because your car is already warm before you start them. ABG: I know that makes them overall more efficient, I just didn't know it could work with any car. It used to be you would keep the diesel engine blocks warm, but this works for pretty much any car in Sweden? Martin: Yes. Our temperatures here can vary. We do tend to get roundabout -18 to -25C [0 to -15F], where I live, sometimes. Normally, in the winter, we always plug the car in to make it more environmentally friendly, for starters, and then it's a nice warm car when you get in. The coldest I remember it getting here was -36 [-33F]. In the north of Sweden they've had, on record, -56 [-69F]. ABG: That's too cold. Martin: That is cold, yeah. Most countries, now, use the north of Sweden to test their cars because of the ice. Volvo S90 Prototype View 15 Photos ABG: That's actually why I came over there, to test out the new XC90s and S90s. Martin: Is that your job, then? ABG: I don't test the cars for the companies, but I test them for Autoblog. They'll invite us to test the vehicles so we can see for ourselves what the vehicles do in cold weather.

Toyota develops new pre-collision system with steering assist

Sun, 13 Oct 2013

A number of automakers are working on developing fully autonomous cars, but it looks like the groundwork for such technologies will likely show up first as semi-autonomous systems for both safety and convenience. Following recent announcements from Nissan and Ford in this area, Toyota has now released information for some of its advanced semi-autonomous technologies that could be offered in production cars over the next few years.
On the safety front, Toyota's new pre-collision system with pedestrian-avoidance steering assist is aimed at protecting the folks who aren't in the car. This system combines visual and audible alerts with automatic brake assist and automatic steering. If warnings don't get the driver to slow down, the brake assist kicks in if a collision is very likely, but if that is still not able to avoid the impending collision (and if there is enough room to do so), the car can automatically steer itself around the pedestrian. This sounds most beneficial for last-second dangers such as a person accidently stepping out into the road in front of a car. Toyota hopes to have this technology available to customers by 2015.
The Japanese automaker is also testing a suite of technologies called Automated Highway Driving Assist (AHDA). The key part of this is a new adaptive cruise control system that uses vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications rather than a radar-based system. This cooperative-adaptive cruise control allows vehicles to communicate their acceleration and deceleration data with other cars, which Toyota says this helps to improve fuel efficiency and traffic flow. Also a part of AHDA is the Lane Trace Control feature, which sounds like a next-gen lane keep assist. This system uses cameras, radar and a computer to keep the vehicle in a "smooth driving line" by being able to change steering angle, engine torque and braking force. Toyota says this technology could be in place by the "mid-2010s."
