I've perused the various other FJ40 Land Cruisers for sale here, and this one is honest. No diamond plate covering rust, no fresh paint over filler over rust, no missing body seams or spot welds, no crappy modifications, no major parts (hard tops, etc.) missing, actually runs, drives, and stops reliably... This may not be the flashiest (40 year old paint rarely is), but it's HONEST. I regret to inform you that there IS some rust, and there is some filler over said rust (sorry, previous owner did it), but it's out in the open and I point it all out in the first video below. I also have given you my absolute best attempt at a virtual test drive with the hope that a video is worth a thousand photos and a photo is worth a thousand words, so you've got about an HOUR of many many thousands of words worth of information to show absolutely everything you could possibly want to know about this truck to feel comfortable buying it. This is not the first car I've sold on eBay (the second actually), and the buyer of the first car was very very pleased and we still talk from time to time. Please bid with confidence, and don't hesitate to ask questions or for additional photos or videos.

History (to the best of my ability and knowledge)
Originally sold in Englewood, CO (Denver suburb)
Original owner worked for the Denver Post Office driving trucks and put ~124,000 miles on it He drove it to and from work
appears to have done some light off roading
put what I believe was a jerry can holder on the passenger side fender over the rear wheel (four holes)
had front seats recovered with very high quality seat covers (I thought they were factory from another vehicle for quite a while and even went so far as to locate another set of original seats)
Second owner was a diesel mechanic living in Lakewood, CO (another Denver suburb) for a mining company.
He immediately took it off the road and put a total of about 5 miles on it over approximately 7 years
While in his possession he:
took it apart
rebuilt both axles end to end
replaced or rebuilt the radiator (brass core)
put filler over the rust
repainted part of the emissions cover
put a chrome Harley horn cover over the drivers side horn
replaced the battery tray with a quality home made diamond plate job
I purchased it (and live in the mountains about 30 minutes west of Denver), got it on the road and made it my daily driver after moving up here.
While in my possession over the past <5,000 miles I put it all back together and:
sprayed some primer over the PO's filler job
adjusted all of the doors and tire hanger
new battery
new tires (Cooper Discoverer M/S studded)
Pertronix ignition points, coil, and spark plug wires (original wiring unmodified and original points, condenser, and coil retained)
rebuilt carburetor
adjusted valves
replaced valve cover gasket
replaced lift gate handle
installed new three point retractable seat belts in front (using factory holes)
installed new Toyota two point seat belts on jump seats
had gas tank boiled, patched, and lined
finely tuned the carburetor with a wideband tuner at ~6,000' (stock sea level jets are in the jet holders on the carb)
replaced all fluids
adjusted brakes
new fuel pump
new gear reduction starter
replaced drivers front suspension bushings (I decided to order greaseable shackle instead of reusing originals mid-job, and never got back around to it)
Installed new SOR floor mats
lubricated and adjusted all controls
replaced ignition key barrel, had gas door lock rekeyed to match, had keys cut for doors
replaced ignition switch
cleaned OE washer motor
cleaned OE turn signal relay
new OEM bumperettes from Toyota
replaced tire swingout bumper with more effective piece
replaced emissions fuel tank return check valve (NLA) with directional fuel filter (not perfect, but it's working pretty well)
Parts missing:
OE hubcaps (available new from Toyota)
"Land Cruiser" scripts over front fenders
"TOYOTA" script from rear corner
"4 Wheel Drive" script from rear corner
OE jack, handle, tire iron, and tool kit
passenger side jump seat retainer strap
Extra parts included:
OE wheels
an extra set of front seats
brand new SOR headliner in a box
a few extra oil filters
a box of miscellaneous hardware, small parts, original parts that were replaced
and a giant stack of receipts and documentation
Compression cylinders 1-6 (original spec is 155 lbs at sea level, ~127 lbs at 6,000'): 116, 116, 109, 105, 106, 116
Emissions results (only noted where there were limits)
HC PPM Idle: 42/1000 2500 RPM: 16/1000
CO% Idle: 1.33/3.00 2500 RPM: .12/3.00
The top genuinely appears to have never been off: see videos linked above for details on this (and much more).
Buyer may arrange auto transport, fly in and drive it home (I'm fully confident it will get you home). Additionally, if you'll pay for the gas, a return flight, any necessary hotels, and you're willing to work with my schedule, I'll even deliver it personally anywhere in the contiguous US.
This truck has not been subjected to a V8 conversion. There's nothing wrong with V8s, and they can be done well, but I've seen a V8 conversion that was so bad the frame flexed if you turned the steering wheel while parked.
This truck has its original paint. That means you won't find out a year down the road that some unscrupulous seller polished a turd. Always beware fresh paint on an old car...
I'm selling simply because we need the money (I could go into the sob story as to why, but you probably don't need or want to know) badly enough to sell my truck and trade down to something less awesome.
I've tried to be as detailed and forthcoming as possible in the videos. I've bought enough old cars to know how easy it is to miss something or to conveniently have some wrinkled body work or rust just off camera. This truck is as honest as they come from an area that gets very little precipitation and doesn't use road salt. If there are any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate. If I failed to capture some detail on video that you'd like to see, ask and I'll do what I can to provide all photographic or videographic information possible. Thanks for reading/watching, and happy bidding!

There's an automotive axiom that claims it's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow. If that's the case, then pushing a Toyota Sports 800 around must be one of the most exhilarating experiences behind the wheel in the world. With just 800cc of displacement from a two-cylinder boxer engine, the focus is on finesse over outright speed. Still, it's a fantastic page in Toyota's performance history, and Petrolicious takes a ride with a man who owns a meticulously restored 1967 example in its latest video.
The Sports 800 used the classic cost-saving strategy in the auto industry of taking parts from a standard model in the lineup and modifying it into a sports car. In this case that meant borrowing the engine from the plebian Toyota Publica, beefing it up for more power and clothing the whole thing a in beautifully shaped, wind-tunnel-honed body.
The look of these lithe, targa roadsters is the exact opposite of the rather dull styling sometimes associated with Toyota today. Everywhere you look there are louvers, vents or curves to draw the eye. Check out the latest Petrolicious video for a detailed look at the history of this rare model that's largely unknown on this side of the Pacific.

DETROIT — Toyota and General Motors are telling the owners of about 61,000 older Corolla, RAV4, Matrix/ Pontiac Vibe models to stop driving them because their Takata airbag inflators are at risk of exploding and hurling shrapnel. The urgent warning Monday covers: Certain Corolla compact cars and Matrix hatchbacks from the 2003 and 2004 model years. RAV4 small SUVs from 2004 and 2005. Also covered are about 11,000 Pontiac Vibes from 2003 and 2004, which are essentially the same as the Matrix and were made at the same California factory. Most of the vehicles are in the U.S. “If the airbag deploys, a part inside is more likely to explode and shoot sharp metal fragments, which could cause serious injury or death to the driver or passengers,” Toyota said in a statement. Owners can go to nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter their 17-digit vehicle identification number to see if their cars are affected. If you're not the original owner of the vehicle, the manufacturer's recall letter might not reach you, so be sure to do the VIN check. The recalled RAV4s have Takata driver's airbags while the Corolla and Matrix models have them on the passenger side. The Corolla and Matrix also are under a separate recall because their airbags can be deployed without a crash, the company said. Both companies said owners should contact a local dealer instead of driving the cars in for repairs. Dealers will provide options such as mobile repair, towing the car to a dealer, or vehicle pickup and delivery. Takata used volatile ammonium nitrate to create a small explosion to inflate airbags in a crash. But the chemical propellant can deteriorate over time when exposed to high temperatures and humidity. It can explode with too much force, blowing apart a metal canister and spewing shrapnel. At least 26 people have been killed in the U.S. by Takata inflators since May 2009, and at least 30 have died worldwide including people in Malaysia and Australia. In addition, about 400 people have been injured. The exploding airbags sent Takata of Japan into bankruptcy. The potential for a dangerous malfunction led to the largest series of auto recalls in U.S. history. About 100 million inflators were recalled worldwide. Recalls Pontiac Toyota Takata airbag recall

The Toyota Avalon may not have the sportiest image on the market. Heck, it doesn't even have the sportiest image in the Toyota lineup. But the Japanese automaker is out to fix that perception, at least a little bit, with the launch of the new Touring Sport Edition.
Announced together with some minor updates to the entire Avalon line - consisting primarily of enhanced safety and infotainment systems - the Avalon XLE Touring Sport Edition celebrates the 20th anniversary of Toyota's large sedan line. Setting this special edition apart are a black paintjob, HID headlights, LED daytime running lights, 18-inch alloys (similar in design to those on the Scion FR-S) and an interior decked out with perforated leather with dark blue trim... plus, of course, the requisite special badges inside and out.
Only 2,500 units will be offered with a $37,170 sticker price that puts it near (if not quite at) the top of the Avalon range that's capped by the $41,700 Avalon Hybrid Limited. Pricing has increased on most models by around two percent, and you can scope out all the details of the updates to the full range in the press releases below.
